What many might not recognize is that most software companies, not just Microsoft, always collect your private data. It's stated in their terms of service or privacy policies.

That's why it is wise to use a good firewall to forbid them access to the internet. In Norton 360 the default is to assume you are incompetent so the default setting is to allow everything. You have to change it.

What a douchebag position to take. Literally anything could be written into those agreements. Really, intellectual property theft, transfer of identity rights, financial liability clauses, permission to spy on your or your family. EULA's are meaningless until litigated, they're written to be vague and encompassing and absolutely in benefit of whatever corporate initiative is popular at the time... They can say LITERALLY WHATEVER THEY WANT, it doesn't mean its legal or that one EULA is equivalent to another.

Good intentions does not excuse violation of privacy. Microsoft SHOULD still have to get permission from their customers before collecting this data (regardless of the reason, isn't this WHY Microsoft has an early access / beta release track). Microsoft also provides all your information and data to the US gov just like every tech company does. Low tech is the better tech, no tech is the best tech. - Former US Army Sgt
@aelaan12
@aelaan12 2 жыл бұрын
The issue with that statement is that the USofA is not the world, it is just a small part of the world and as such the statement is not correct. The information collected from a PC in New Zealand and say Norway is not to be shared outside their countries. The end-user may choose which data they are willing to share, by disabling certain services. But they also state that the operating system experiences might be hampered by the disabling of said services. Apple does exactly the same, though they do it in a "secure" way (biggest BS if ever) Linux also reports back, no matter what people say, as soon as you do an apt-get or a yum or whatever you do to keep your computer "secure" the data has already been collected. Just think of your computer as a huge billboard for advertisements. It would be interesting to see how many clock cycles are used, per operating system, to gather and distribute this information.

@@aelaan12 I was with Army Intelligence, then rangers, then JAG, I cannot openly state as to how I know the gov collects all data as it would be a crime. Yet i know they do, the United States Gov collects all data (even foreign users) that data then gets ran through multiple algorithms searching for key words, threats, targeted info, etc etc. Then is archived. The US Gov spies on all gov/countries (as both Snowden and Wikileaks has revealed). The world of digital information we now live in is controlled by gov. Take Amazon products for example, all amazon products (fire stick, fire tv, Alexa, etc) have mics they listen and record any and everything they hear, that data is shared with the CIA and NSA. I'm actually putting together a video which I will be posting illustrating Amazons spying. TV's come with mic and camera, they connect to the internet now and do the same. No tech company in the US can operate here without agreeing to share data with the Gov. We now have google and KZfaq banning the let's go Brandon music video, claiming it has misinformation about medical vs and so they banned it. When in reality its anti biden and anything anti biden is getting shut down under weird nonsense bans. Any country in the world that has the capability to monitor and control data, does it. I spent the better part of my life working for gov. The only reason I retired is I was not ok with where this gov was headed. If you just 10% of the stuff the gov had the military alone working on, you would shit yourself.

@@Drew1903SG You make a purchase, that card info gets stored, you have a IP address that info gets stored, your online activity (what sites you visit, how long your there, etc, etc.) Hets stored. All information the gov wants from a company, that company shares. 2 such examples of this, 1) Edward Snowden's leaks. 2) pandora's papers (all that banking info on the wealthy storing their money in offshore accounts to avoid taxes. The means of which were gained illegally, yet readily available to the public. Then you have the Ca terrorist who the gov paid 1 million to a hacker to get into an apple iphone. The gov employs hackers, spies, etc. Etc.

Windows 8.1 was the last Operating System from Microsoft. Windows 10, and onwards, are Surveillance Systems to collect data on the end users. Windows 10 began the microsoft spying, Windows 11 defaults users cameras to always on ... it's well past the ''creepy'' level, considering students often have PCs in their own rooms. By default, Windows 11 operates in direct violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

I'm not opposed to companies collecting data that can improve products, but it's how personal they make it. If they could anonymise the data and abide by some ethical standards, like academics do when conducting research, people probably wouldn't get so upset. There's no reason they can't understand trends by geographic location, age range and so forth without pinpointing it to specific individuals. That's the upsetting bit. Although, if my laptop ever gets stolen, I would be grateful for the exact GPS.
@mgj8649

They can understand trends by geographic location and age range. But knowing every detail about every individual person makes more money, and that's all they care about after all. They value money over privacy. If they find a way to make more money than they currently are by giving us more privacy, they'd do it in a heart beat. And they'd only be doing it for the money, not the privacy.

1st you must have Windows 10 Pro and virtualization must be enabled in the BIOS. Open Hyper-V Manager. Click Create and follow the prompts.. give the Virtual machine a Name, assign an amount of RAM to it, set the size for the virtual hard drive. Tell it to install from a Win11 ISO wherever you have that saved. You will need a license for it, same as a regular installation... Either have to buy one OR install a valid other OS & then upgrade to Win11.

There is NO "spying" in Windows 10, either... NOT by Microsoft in either Windows 10 OR Windows 11❗ Telling people otherwise is criminal.
@cdgncgn
@cdgncgn 2 жыл бұрын
@@Drew1903SG there is and you cant turn it off even if you like to, if youre not willing to stop updates and sending data, disable calculator, clock synchronization, keylogger. You have to disable many features that can pretty much break the system sometimes. Not updating, something you cant really opt out of ? You know, when youre not using the newest upgrade, espionage loses some value, since youre not testing their new thing for them with your hardware. For example, I set my time further 5 years into 2026, put out the internet cable, told the system to wait one month for the next update. Then I reverted to 2021 and now it says it will check for updates in 5 years instead of next month. Without using programs that disabled MS so-called security, their firewall holes through which they spy ? theres much less going out to that criminal enterprise. browsers spy on you as well. Those entitities do not respect your privacy, they really value it by selling all the date they can get away with. And on top of that, they dont pay you for your data that they are stealing from you. I have had 10 months no update so far and the system works fine. If they make you afraid of security threat, well, imagine them having your data stolen .... but it is already sold. Just like all the social media I know of.

Guys it looks like there is an option in local group policy editor that disables diagnostic data being sent to MS, looks like it will only work for windows 11 enterprise, Server, & Education editions tho, go to local group policy editor>administrative templates>windows components> Data collection & preview builds> Allow diagnostic Data> enable it then an option box will pop up select Diagnostic Data Off, then hit OK and restart your computer, Now when you go look in Settings>Privacy & Security> Diagnostics & Feedback, Under diagnostic data it should say "Your organization prevents sending diagnostic data to ms"

@2:40 "...when I clear it, it'll remove all of this information from Microsoft's servers" (referring to your internet and computer usage). Kevin, please validate your assertion. Please provide the source code for both the Windows 11 portion that sends the delete request to Microsoft's servers, and also show the source code of the servers, depicting that they honor your delete requests. Alternatively, please provide a link to an official Microsoft announcement where they clearly state that they will delete 100% of the data that you are requesting that they delete -- and hopefully such an announcement will be signed by a Microsoft executive, and not simply singed generically by Microsoft -- leaving the author anonymous. ----- @6:04 "If you turn this off, you'll continue to see ads. But they just won't be targeted to your interests" The above changes what ads are delivered to you. The above does not change Microsoft's data collection. For example, if you leave it off, and months later turn it on, then magically you will get ads targeted to your interests, because Microsoft has been collecting it all along. This is an example of Microsoft being deceptive. ----- @9:39 "Perhaps the most private browser -- you can use the Brave browser" That is a browser that offers better privacy. But for the most privacy, that would be TOR browser. ----- There was a time when reputable companies made their default settings as "opted out", and the customer had to affirmatively "opt in" (and the endless legal jargon for using Windows is not a reasonable excuse for opting in the world -- if it were, then Microsoft would not rely on 99.999999% of the world not reading the legal jargon for installing and using Windows). Everyone should be opt'ed out of every single data collection tool, by default. Everyone should have to actively turn on each data collection tool, as they deem appropriate. Microsoft knows that nearly no one would do this, so Microsoft sneaks it in via the back door, knowing that 99.999999% of the world neither reads the legal jargon, nor understands that legal jargon, nor has any concept of the level of data collection taking place. 99.9999999999% of Windows users do not watch these tech videos. They have no clue that this is taking place, and Microsoft knows this, and Microsoft takes advantage of this. How would you like it if your microwave oven spied on everything you do, within its range of listening and viewing? And you did not know that your microwave oven was doing this, because you did not read the manual's version of War and Peace. If Microsoft was collecting data on you, out in the open, then videos like this would not have "Spying" in the title. You would not want to live next door to a peeping Tom and his telescope. Well, Microsoft is a peeping Tom on an unprecedented level. Cheers!

I feel the same way. Call me paranoid (which is fine) but if *I* were Microsoft, as soon as someone chose to delete their data, I would move that data "off to the side" such that it wouldn't be accessible to them anymore but wouldn't necessarily be destroyed. I think of a physical garbage can. When I empty my garbage can, the garbage goes in the large can outside the house. Once the garbage truck picks it up, I have no clue where it goes even though I no longer have access to it. You make great points and I view this the same as you. *sigh*

What about having a VPN? I am in way knowledgeable in any of this, btw.
@NoEgg4u
@NoEgg4u 2 жыл бұрын
@@nana-mamalife2886 If you use Windows, there exists the possibility that Microsoft could be collecting data on what you do via your VPN service. It is Windows that is the foundation for running the VPN service. So Windows can capture everything that you do. If Windows is not capturing what you do via a VPN service, then you are transferring "trust" to the VPN service. They can see and log everything that you do when using their service. They might promote that they never save logs. You cannot verify whether or not that is true. A court order could force them to save logs, and that could included a gag order, prohibiting the VPN service from letting their customers know. Or, the VPN service could just lie about keeping logs. There is no way to know whether or not to trust them. The only safe (but never 100% safe) way to use the internet is via a free, open-source operating system, such as TAILS or Qubes. But doing so will be a frustrating experience, because many web sites will not accept connections via TOR (which those operating systems use) and countless web sites will not work with Java Script disabled (and you must disable it to ensure privacy and security). Also, using TOR is slow (and you have to use TOR if you want privacy). A VPN service is probably better than using Windows to directly connect to everything. And a VPN service will allow you to access information based in countries that would deny your requests from your current location. A VPN service is a viable option. But like everything else, their service and trustworthiness varies from on VPN vendor to the next VPN vendor.
