come on windows if you see this PLEASE pin it so everybody understands what this video was about. there used to be an application called "Windows XP Mode" that you could install on Windows 7 machines to run Windows XP for installing applications (ex: Work applications in case they don't work on windows 7), just playing around with stuff, etc

For anyone who didn't get it, this is VirtualBox bundled with a program which creates a VM and installs the XP ISO on it. So it's a VM and not a compatibility layer.

@@Leonardo5681 But a Windows XP Mode installation also come with some applications that will break if you try to install another OS in the Windows XP Mode VM. Watch Adventures in Nostalgia's video about it.

this isn't an "xp mode", this is just a VM running in virtualbox.

Windows xp mode was a vm with integration functions, so "it's not an XP mode" even the name XP mode was wrong on 7

its a virtualbox vm window embedded in a program and virtualbox has a mode where via using a driver it can overlay the windows desktop and thats all

In case none of you guys know this I'm a Microsoft certified professional and certified in windows XP forward. Win vista-11 are all based on the XP or NT kernel the only difference is the implementation of advanced PowerShell.

I guess nobody in the comments realizes that Windows 7 shipped with a feature called XP mode that was essentially a VM with XP installed for programs that couldn’t run on 7. That’s all it was. Same as this, essentially.

Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 isn't just a virtual machine, but also comes with application integration which will break when installing another OS inside the VM that XP Mode came with. Watch Adventures in Nostalgia's video on upgrading to Windows Vista inside that VM and see.

Sorry but this isn't even a PORT of the official Windows XP Mode for Windows 7. You can watch Adventures in Nostalgia's video on upgrading the VM that XP Mode came with to Windows Vista and the applications with shortcuts inside the "Windows XP Mode Applications" folder won't launch.
