That's gotta be at least somewhat true...tech was being improved so quickly, how exciting! Now we're dealing with the implications of an entire planet full of dumb, fickle human-beings all being able to instantly communicate with each other. Social-media alone has broken most of my faith in humanity, personally...haha.

vaporwave represents how thin is the line between our real memories and the ones that we think are real because our brain created to fill a blank, the feeling of nostalgia for something that we can't tell if it happened a long time ago.

@@sp00kyd4ddy6 vibes are an experience we actively consume, a flavor that we know can enjoy, but really only when that's whats happening to you. Just because you enjoyed an apple from the tree once or more before doesnt mean it's the flavor or nutrition that your body/soul needs right now. Know that you have tasted and enjoyed these experiences, but you cant force yourself to enjoy them the same way, the experience must happens unto itself. Most all of them will remain waiting to be remembered and sampled again, the real risk of losing them comes from actually forgetting after all the new experiences yet to come. But even if you forget, and never taste it again, the moments you had with it will always be true

It's 1996, I'm only 4 years old. My dad thought he could arm wrestle a truck from rolling out of the garage and accidentally severes 4 fingers off his left hand in front of me.. After surgically reattaching his fingers, the doctor suggested videos games as a form of physical rehab. My dad purchases a Sega Genesis, doctors orders and my life was transformed for the better forever. After a few months my dad fully recovered, he accredited it to the nonstop Kawasaki Superbike Challenge we played.

Well then it's up to you to throw that party... yes? Sure! I really believe that too many of us, myself included, leave too many things to other people to do. "Be the change you want to see in the world" I think Ghandi said this one. What a lovely idea! Who knows better than you? The very person whom the idea comes to has the exact and perfect vision for this and if not, just ask for it. A way will open up when you make yourself available. Don't trust me, but trust yourself and most importantly trust in God and in the process. But also know that this was meant for you to do because no one else would do it the way you would which is why you must do it. Now go and sin no longer.

Two years ago, I was in the worst state I could ever remember. I had broken my legs in a skiing accident and fell deeper into my depression as I was isolated in my room and had no friends to talk to. As I was rehabilitating I discovered this very album and it was not like anything I've ever seen before. It had given me hope for the future and convinced me to live another day. The reason this album will always be my favorite is because it resonated with that period of my life, its prelude, and its way of shaping me into who I am today. I will never forget this amazing album, especially Caligula. Thank you, Windows96, for saving my life.

it's the year 2019, and i had to sadly move away from my friends and family to an isolated town in the middle of nowhere, barely any contact with anywhere else in the world. and in this town i thought i would grow to hate, would be the birth of my favourite music genre of vaporwave. remembering i had to walk long hours from school to house, i remember listening to windows 96 and his album of one hundred mornings. i never knew that i would adore every day, listening to windows 96 as i studied, went on midnight walks and slept on lazy days... however, i soon had to move again back to my friends thankfully due to the pandemic, but the town i lived in for a short while will always be remembered as the birth of vaporwave for me. i almost wished i could turn back time and move back in that quiet town... witness the first time listening to windows 96 again...

I played it back then and still return to it once in a while. They just don't make games like that anymore. I played this album in the background while completing a few missions.

Well your right because Vaporwave is basically just based of of peoples remembrance or nostalgia of they'er shitty walkman players with wow in flutter, playing off of a worn tape of alternative/newwave from artist such as "depeche mode", "kajagoogoo", "tears for fears", and "the human league". The warping is known as wow and flutter and the muffled ness of the music is based off of the metal being rubbed off of a tape from old age or due to a dirty tape head. Over all vaporwave is quiet alright for background music such as "Mall Muzak"

Stella S. Yes it is a thing. Because it’s not like anything deemed as vapor wave is a part of the New Retro Wave collective. Vapor wave is a sub genre of synth-wave, like an offshoot is all. At least Vaporwave has a discernible time/vibe about it, that gives it its distinction. Now you wanna talk about BS that shouldn’t have their own categories, it’s Out Run and Darkwave! What makes a piece of music Out Run anyways? As far as I can tell, all you gotta do is take what would normally be classified as regular synth wave, slap some Blade Runner or futuristic Japanese artwork on as a thumbnail or cover art for an album, and boom - it’s somehow either of those for whatever reason (sarcasm). I see categorization as nothing more than a means of separating the nuances of what is otherwise very similar music, but why is this important? It’s important for fans and DJs (myself included back in the Chicago House scene 20 years ago) to help them explore new sounds for new sets. Most importantly, so vinyl records can be found easier in a record shop where almost all the plates are of one specific base genre. For instance, I mentioned Chicago House because there is a record shop in Chicago called Grammophone Records - all they sell are House records.. a whole store front just for House. So hopefully that gives you some practical perspective, if you didn’t know some or most of this already.

It was last year that I took my mom on our last road trip together, we drove from Vegas to Tuscon. I remember listening to this along the way, it holds a lot of nostalgia in that sense. My mom had stage 4 cancer and I didn't think much about it but in the beginning of the trip she started losing her balance and eventually some of her motor skills. I had to walk with her, it still makes me very sad to think about. I wish we could have gotten her help sooner, she had a brain hemorrhage and I'm sure the driving didn't help her situation. Though it brings me great pain to relive last year, I still love listening to this album, all of the songs are great.

And when I'm watching train cab videos (especially trips on overnight sleeper trains - 17 to 28 hours long, that is) i cue these music because the original train vlogs are without music and since it is done overnight it's accompanied by the noise of the train wheels and tracks. So the music helps to break the silence and bring up the travel vibes

If anyone's still listening to this guy now, I'd like to share why this album struck me tonight in a profound way - I may have been born in 2000 so technically I'm a Gen Z-er through and through but in reality I grew up poor with an older brother born just after the edge of being a millennial and so I lived at least half a decade behind behind my peers technologically until I hit puberty basically. I grew up watching a CRT TV with a PS1 and a VCR providing most of my entertainment until about 2005 and we used a windows 95 home computer until about 2008 and this gives me so much nostalgia thinking about how I thought the future would be back then, and while I've embraced every single technological change that has come my way since then, mine (and I'm sure many others') view of the future has changed drastically alongside the changing political climate. And while seamless access to any information is provided through the internet now and while I believe that this is hugely important, part of me would still trade in all the advantages I've gained through social and technological progression in order to get back that optimistic view of the future we all had playing around with our old 90's tech. Peace and love to you all enjoying this art

One of my good friends just bought me this on vinyl and I can't thank him enough, this is perhaps my favorite vaporwave album, if not, one of the top three. Craig, if you see this, thank you so much for blessing me with this holy album.

I'm amazed at how Windows 96 produces these crazy, nostalgic, sounds that sound so ORGANIC. Like in Visage, he uses these biological creatures so perfectly. Definitely something unique and signature for the Vaporwave genre.

What an amazing start to the album on Caligula. The slow yet gaining synths followed by a soothing orchestral bell, leading you into a world of nostalgia you never really thought existed.

I was 10 in 1996. I can say this feels like an alternate 1996, but believable. Links to more music like this are appreciated. Bonus: let's go for a tour on my train of thought during this album listen (not necessarily all 1996, but from the period): Beige computers with Windows 3.1 installed. Donkey Kong Country. Teal everything. Fruit By The Foot. Gushers. Pickup trucks still square. The Disney Afternoon. Legends Of The Hidden Temple. Spider-Man: The Animated Series (or Batman the Animated Series- rip Kevin Conroy). Double Dare. Just above $1 for a gallon of gasoline or a Happy Meal. There weren't security cameras around every corner. Toys 'Я Us and Kids 'Я Us. Kay-Bee Toys. Game Boy ("Play It Loud"). Trapper Keepers. Mario 64. My train of thought stops there for now, as the album comes to a close. Feel free to look up any of this stuff on the time machine that is KZfaq. In a while, crocodile. ✌️

There are many musicians from your 80s and 90s era that created music like this. Look up Software. Their albums digial dance, space design and many others. Their genre was called the Berlin School of electronic music. Many artists like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Jean-Michel Jarre were part of this movement. Hope you found these useful. Peace ✌️.

This album could definitely be Sega genesis/Sega arcade music. Edgy teen/adult game in the 90’s. Maybe even a pc platformer. It definately sounds like game music, not music from the radio. The name, “windows 96” is provably a reference to old pc gaming/software. When installing a game on MSDOS, you get to choose which sound card you are using from a list, or you could even use a synthesizer, and get drastically different sounds depending on which one. This album kind of sounds like if you plugged in the synthesizer instead of a sound card. Now the music in pc games only comes one way, but it used to depend on your equipment and you could get some pretty rad results
