Based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Herman Wouk's epic novel, THE WINDS OF WAR captures the world changing events leading up to WWII and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 in this award-winning miniseries event presented on 6 discs.
Robert Mitchum stars as Victor 'Pug' Henry, a career naval officer who must carry out his duties during the turbulent developments in world affairs in the late 1930s. While Germany expands and proceeds to seize several border countries, Italy attempts to establish a Fascist Colonial Empire under Mussolini and Japan prepares for a major battle with China. Meanwhile Victor and his family become drawn into the centre of the conflict as they come to terms with international tension and deal with the concomitant drama, tragedy and heroism that lead to America's involvement in World War II.

Jan micheal vincent and Ben murphy SO handsome!! im a sucker for a navy guy so ben had the edge on jan in this show.

Ben Murphy was more Ben Afleck than Ben Afleck in Pearl Harbour in this series 😀 Complete with a young Sharon Stone playing his wife!

Ali MacGraw, the series weakest link, single handily reduced a potentially great series to just a good series with her over-acting. Every scene she was in was borderline nauseating. Its no wonder she was replaced in the sequel, War and Remembrance.

Still, I like this series. Shame they changed cast in series 2. Why don't they make a remake. That's my question. I'd say make a remake.

for me her character was very annoying - she made all the wrong decisions that were possible - each time they had chance to avoid problems she was popping with some ridiculous plan

nope, without her it would be far better series... although perhaps much shorter :)
