You bring up some good points. I tint for a living up here in Wisconsin, we go through the same thing. Some people like to risk it and I do at least one a week. I usually recommend 50% and I have 50% on my cars as well.

I’m a HUGE advocate for window tint, as long it’s not stupid dark. I got my 2 front windows done at 18% to match the rear windows of my 2018 Silverado crew cab and 40% the whole wind shield. I think it’s the perfect set up. Looks great, and dark enough for all the privacy benefits but not enough to restrict visibility, day or night. Last time a cop messed with me was about ten years ago (knock on wood) when I was running 5% all the way around on my trailblazer I had at the time.

Got my shield done in 60% ceramic for the heat and a 5% brow, 20% over factory. It ALMOST doesn't look tinted because of the dark brow. Florida didn't really notice but I moved to Georgia and I'm getting looks now. Lol.

if your in NC, you can have a citation for window tint removed from your record, if you pull your tint off. not a dollar out of your pocket, and ticket dropped. just go to your towns sherrifs office and they will help you out

Great video. I have something similar not tint but exhaust. Municipalities in Ohio called mariemont small small (village) pulled me over many times when I crossed into their town. Super loud . Used to fly by cars and set off car alarms loved it.

I live above Cincinnati, Ohio in a small town and have never had problems with the tint on my fiesta or the equinox I just traded in, but I've done the full front windshield. I have an appointment this week to go get my windows done and I was gonna get something really light like an 80% just to help with the glare at nigt as I do a lot of computer work and after work at night can be hell with ppl's bright light's these day's. Trucks incredible. But needs boost auto mirrors, clear running lights on mirrors with switchbacks for signals, smoked or clear lenses on mirror front running lights. Colour match mirror caps or even chrome on your truck.

I had a brow over my windshield tint. I cut along the bottom of the brow to remove the rest of the windshield tint. But ended up having to take the brow off aswell. I would just say if you want a brow then just go back and get one if you’re not going to keep it fully tinted

@ lmfscrew Window tint laws are just a line drawn on the sand... Here in France it's legal for bulletproof vehicle or if you have a medical reason to have 30% tint on the windshield and front side windows.... Any % for the back half (legal too for any vehicle for the back half). In Texas, you can have any tint except for the windshield if you have a tint waiver... These laws don't make any sense.

My advice is to only run %20 on the front sides and %35 on the windshield. Don't put tint on the factory tinted rears, those come factory tinted at %20 Its looks dark enough especially with a dark interior

There's a much more serious potentiality here. If you get in an accident and someone is hurt or killed, and there is any way at all that they claim your illegally-tinted, dark windows may have contributed to the accident, you could find yourself facing some very serious charges. It isn't particularly likely, but a prosecutor and jury aren't going to sympathize with your desire for dark windows.

in my state, tint is a fix it ticket and its capped at $50 dollars. so I have my vehicle completely blacked out, even windshield cause it still be $50 bucks 😂

On Long Island you can't pass inspection with tint on your windshield and driver and passenger windows. Just ur back windows and rear window( pick ups and SUVs only) passenger cars are way more strict. They are very strict here with tint.

Id get it done, pay for it up for it up front, pick it up after hours maybe. Makes sense for cops to hide out by tint shops lol. But since you are tinting your own stuff now maybe you'll be good. But doing a windshield will be tough! Binge watching all your ole Duramax vids today lol!

I have a 19 f250 Powerstroke, squatted. I took it down to Myrtle beach about a month and a half ago. I was riding the strip one of the nights, and a state trooper pulled me over and gave me a warning ticket for my headlights being “too bright”. He said they were “altered”. All they are is LED bulbs and factory housings 🤦🏼‍♂️

Not sure if it is like this everywhere but I believe that window tint law only pertains to the state you live in. So if you’re ever out of state with the truck, no one can get you for that. Now the windshield might be a different question but I’m not 100% positive on that

not sure how much it cost you to get the whole windshield tinted but I got an 8" (really like 10") 5% brow on my truck for 35 bucks at a local shop. I live in mobile and when it comes to illegal mods to your vehicle, cops just don't care here. id keep the whole thing tinted if I were you but like I said, I pretty large brow for only $35 and yes it was at a reputable shop.

On my 2016 Camaro SS I have 5% all around & I had 35% on the windshield, had it for a couple months then I removed the windshield tint because I forgot to take off my sticker when it got tinted so it was behind the tint😂 I tried cutting around it but ruined the tint so I just pulled it off the windshield haha

I had a 4Runner with 20% over 20% (4% tint) on the front windows and 20% over the ~27% factory privacy glass (5% tint) on the rest. I did 45% windshield tint as well. It looked so good. I got pulled over one time in two years- young cop gave me a warning and let me go. I was riding in a bad part of the city and I think he was just checking out what I was doing, which was absolutely nothing. Wrecked the truck unfortunately. Now I only have 10% on the fronts, no windshield tint anymore- I think that really draws attention to it, but I see it EVERYWHERE in my city (major east coast metro). Bored county cops care. City cops have more important stuff to do. Your trucks look great man... screw the haters.

I have always had dark tint on my vehicles and I've been lucky that I've only received one ticket. I just feel it's a type of a ticket that they right only for revenue! I understand the safety side of it but why is it okay for the police cars(non K9) to have dark tint?? If the officer feels threatened he can always have you step out of your vehicle. It's ridiculous!! I feel that there are more "CRIMES" they could worry about!

I think you can trim the brow out without it hurting the glass (they use razor blades cutting the tint on the glass without scratching it) but you will have a hard time getting the glue off. It may not be too bad to get the glue off since the tint was done recently.

My town does not care, but the next town over they will ticket you. I try my best to avoid going through there. It’s all about the money. The cop cars are just as dark. I don’t they can pull you over for just tint though. Has to be for a reason then they can add the tint.

Tint your cars there, then drive home at night, park the vehicle for a few days in the sun, and drive something else while it cures. That's what I do.

In Taxafornia your back wheels wouldn't have made it out of the tint shop driveway and you would have gotten pulled over. Same deal, it's a violation in Taxafornia. Pay the fine and next week, get the same citation and pay it again. Courts got tired of people who know someone in law enforcement to sign the ticket off like you had them removed and pay I think a $15.00 total fee. Super wide tires I see that are popular nowadays that stick way out past the fenders. You're not going to run them in Southern Taxafornia, a huge violation. They want to see flares and mud flaps that cover anything that sticks out past the fenders. Then they made it where you had to physically take your vehicle in for whatever fix it violation you received to either a Los Angeles County Sheriffs station or California Highway Patrol office to have them come out and physically look at tinted windows removed or no front license plate re-installed, then sign the ticket off and go to court to show the vehicle was signed off by the local law enforcement officials.

There is many safety issues having that kind of tints. It’s not a state or city law it’s US Dot regulation. It’s true that some agencies don’t enforce the tint like a lot other laws, but they should in force it. Someone who I knew was runner over, tint was the accident factor. Be smart.

Most of us also have everything legal. It sucks to have law enforcement say what too dark is but it is what it is. AT THE END OF THE DAY legal tint isn't that bad.
