Ah the Wind Weapon! A proper specialized piece of adrenaline junky kit. I never got good enough or had the money for one, but it was a great design. Those were the days. B¬)

wordreet: WR I'm so with you. These were late 1980's if memory serves me right and I really wanted one but I think they were £500+ in UK money even then. So I "think" I had the skill then but certainly not the money. A certain Mr Naish has a similar soft wing style now being touted in the late 2010’s. Specifically 2019 some 30 years further on. I took up hang gliding in the 90's and realised that I had a body weight that was not conducive to slow manageable landings... I now drive powerboats, so much easier 🤓

Macgruder was ahead of his time. I hope he's prospered somehow.

definitely gona make one of these! these are focking awesomme!=D why dont you see them these days anymore? maybe the kitewing, but these are imo easier to handle and more comfortable to use! they should make a version where you can attach the wing back to the boom again to make it easier to gain some speed and use more surface m^2, they could make a mechanism that changes shape depending on the wing angle. (normal surfsail when putting it sideways and wing shape when wanting to fly the air!

Do you have a link? I can only see the inflatable Wind wings with no atachment at all with the board. And no test without a foil, whch makes me Wonder if Wind wings will be powerfull enough to sail on regular fins….

It's never going to catch on without a mast or harness. Having to do a flexed arm hang the whole time is just too tiring. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbKBeaqFrNWUeIk.html&feature=share

Actually there was a a guy about this time, around 89 or 90, in Hood River who was using stacked kites and water skis. That was the first time I ever saw any kind of kiting. It was pretty amazing, but if you crashed you swam. No such thing as relaunch. Someone here may know the guys name, I know some of the old timer gorge guys knew him.

Corey Roesler was his name. When I raced the Blowout in those years he was there shredding downwing on his waterskis. He took his show to Maui and the sport progressed from there.

@TheSkinzman you probably can't the company is defunct. You can probably attach a rod and joint to a kitewing and a sailboard and make your own.

funny, but this old design looks more fun to me (inexperienced to windsurfing) than actually windsurfing.
