A raw edit of the wipeouts I managed to film from the event. A few beatdowns & some bruised egos but no one seriously injured so that's a win! 😃👍

No sprained ankles, torn knee ligaments, I’m surprised. Foot straps had to be perfectly set.

I'm surprised no one got seriously injured. Some of these wipeouts look terrifying. After I got hit by the mast a few years ago, if I'm riding waves, I use a helmet. Big wave surfers are starting to use helmets, and they don't need to worry about masts, booms, or getting dragged by the straps. I'm not sure why these guys are not.

Excellent video, finally a video without annoying music, just the sound of the ocean. Really hard to watch these guys destroying equipment and hurting themselves, but the rides seems to make it worthy. And no wind at all, the sails just help to make the aerials!

Paul, that is great stuff. Reminds me of the 1000s of dollars in masts I lost in the mushy swell on the gulf coast of Florida (on a WAY smaller scale). Its all shore break, and if you go down, adios mast...of course its rarely ever 6 feet , and total chaos... The guy that gets helicoptered is by far my favorite wipeout, poor sob...

Even more respect for everyone that sailed there ...if you don't outrun it or eject out the back - you'll get eaten! and to think... Sol was just 13 years old and having a crack at it!!! The section between 4:18-5:10 was insane to watch live - so good to see it again. The horizontal cartwheel at 7:58 - OMG LOL ...and Baptiste's ride - how bloody good is that kid! Brilliant work Paul - well done, and we get to enjoy it in juicy 4K for years to come - thank you.

It’s a pretty big swell and shallow on the inside, so it seems wise to get off before the whole thing closes out. There is a point at which it’s all too steep to get off and then it’ll eat you.

Interesting watch. How well do the boards and sails washed up on beach survive? I see the guys just go and take another rig prepared earlier!

Well there wasn’t much of a beach at Cloudbreak, there’s just an inside reef that basically chews up gear. If you go down at Cloudbreak on a bigger day there’s a 50/50 chance the gear gets destroyed. It’s not very user friendly!

Most of the time the equipment is fine but at 10ft Cloudbreak it’s 50/50

As a perpetual beginner, I love that a unifying factor is that no matter how pro you are, wrestling to get the board flipped back over and the sail around the right way in the wash is just as hard and looks just as lame for them as it does for me

大昔、ホキーパで波の後ろに行くとうねりで完全にマストが見えなくなるようなthe.dayなコンディションのときに見学できたことがあります。今はジェットがありますが、そのときもマストが折れてやられちゃったやつがいて、もう1人アウトにいた強者が救助に行ったのに断って永遠と30分以上クロールをし続けてカレントで左側のビーチに流されて上がってきた強者が印象的でした。
