Backloop is one of the most technical and most fun move out there in windsurfing.
Wether you are going for your first backloops or already land your backloops in this clip I will give you different key top tips for both the rotation and the landing of the move.
Tips that can help you land your first ones or get your backloops finally more consistent & controlled.
For the take-off part be sure the check my previous clip : • WINDSURFING TUTORIAL -...
Let me know in the comments below which tip helped you the most for your backloop.
Big thanks for the sailors who send in some of their footage for this clip to have better example footage.

Angle against wind is key. Always 45 degrees into the wind going up. Make drawings. Cudos for tipping about turning before the wave and moving rig forward against the water.

Best backloop video I've seen. Now I see 100% how I choke most of my attempts with the backhand back and plenty pressure. Now I have more steps and knowledge to go for. Thanks for this! Hope to buy you a beer in Cape Town one day.

Probably best to work your way up. First improve the take off, than position of the lower body , than looking well over you shoulder at the highest point & than moving the hand on the highest point. Best would also to aim to under rotate the backloop at first & take off on smaller ramps

Love this explanation - have landed one backie but struggling with consistency- either under or over rotating. One question - why the double sail pump on the way down? Have seen Brawzinho does this too. Also to manage rotation? Thanks a lot!
@dietervandereyken9271
@dietervandereyken9271 7 ай бұрын
great to hear you are loving the videos. Only on very strong days and when going very high we do the double pump, this is to depower the sail a bit and help to control the landing & stop the rotation. On the lighter wind days or smaller backloops you don't see it so often for example.

Great video! Often I get hooked in as I start to come down through the rotation, which is scary! How do I avoid this? Thanks!
@dietervandereyken9271
@dietervandereyken9271 Жыл бұрын
Hello Janine, maybe a strange question but how loose are the harness lines? It's a problem I so far haven't had with the harness lines I'm using but remember that in the past in Freestyle I had some harness lines that where very 'floppy' which made me hook in during tricks which wasn't to do anything with technique. Other option is that you actually already hook in during the take of and only notice on the way down, best would be to put on an action cam on a fly mount & see this way if this is the case. If you have a clip you can always forward it to me so I can check

Thanks for the video 🤙. What do you do to stop the rotation I often overrotate if I save it it is more of a flat landing or I evacuate if it is too much. Sometimes it is impossible for me to control the power in the sail going down. Cheers
@dietervandereyken9271
@dietervandereyken9271 Жыл бұрын
This can be a few things most common is to be carving while you are taking of giving you a momentum almost impossible to stop which is explained more into depth in my previous clip. The second is you look to early over you shoulder starting the rotation to early, so wait a bit longer and remember on the way down to keep you back hand sheeted in this will stall the rotation. Top tip 5 & 8 will come in handy here.

Wat ik vaak heb is dat de neus het water in gaat, maar dan heb ik een enorme katapult 😢
@dietervandereyken9271
@dietervandereyken9271 8 ай бұрын
@JuelZ925
@JuelZ925 8 ай бұрын
