Watch the full-length film, WiNDUP, Unity's newest animated short. WiNDUP highlights the fragile nature of life, love, and what it means to never give up.
This film is created in real-time 3D in out-of-the-box Unity 2019.2. WiNDUP was created on standard computers by setting strict rules about poly-count and what features they could afford to use. Examples including using pixel displacement instead of tessellation shader; using joints animation instead of animation caches.

I've watched a video about someone who were in a coma for 3 years. She said that while in coma, she is dreaming things depend on what she hears and on her environment. When she hears her mom, her mom is in her dreams. When it is cold, she dreams she is sitting infront of a snowy mountain. I think this is how it felt like :)

My uncle José woke up from coma (after a heart attack) some years ago... I visited him every afternoon and talked about the other pacients, the doctors, my day at the University, my grandmother (his mum), about the pigeons in the window, the rain, the neighbors... and he told me , when he woke up, that he could hear all of it. It was clear that he had heard me. Talk to them.

My grandma suffered from cancer. For 5 years she fought like a lion, she was so brave and strong and funny and could deal with litterally anything. She always knew what to do, anways understood people to the core of their heart. The doctors said that they expect her to last a year or two, but she was so strong she succeeded to live for the next 5 years. At the end she was in a really bad condition and couldnt wake up, and was kind of sleeping deeply at the verge of death. Then my father, her son, sat next to her. He said "hey, mom, wake up" in a really soft voice and she actually woke up. Everyone was in shock to see it. My father and grandma talked for a long two hours, and she said she was tired of it, and that after long five years she gave up. Then she told him that she was tired and wanted to sleep for a bit. That was their last conversation. I love her so much. She was an amazing woman. May her rest in peace.

I am a father of 7 month old daughter... My wife's best friend lost her one month old daughter, my wife's goddaughter, a year ago... The first time we got to see her IRL was in her coffin... let's just say I was balling out for the whole duration of this movie, and that I hugged my daughter tightly for a looooong time after that, and I pray everyday to anything that could listen to never be put in this father's position...

What a beautiful short story. Even though it was short it sure had a big impact in conveying a message. My husband survived Vietnam then when Covid came he took so much care of himself so that he wouldn’t get but god had other plans for him. Needless to say he caught Covid and after a month his lungs had gotten damaged beyond repair and he got his angel’s wings. It’s going to be two years since his passing and I have missed him so much. I feel I can’t be without him.

Dear Sandra, Gods ways and plans are different from ours and we do not understand so many things. I believe that your life is difficult without your husband. You can find strength in God and his powerful word. If there is any hope in this complicated world, it is in God. I lost one of my sons in 2015, he was almost 2 years old and I found hope and help in Jesus Christ. May God bless you and help you.

I have watched this video twice and I still get the same feeling after watching it from the first. Love is really powerful and it can even make miracles happen. The girl is lucky to have a father like him. I missed my father who is now in heaven, I knew he was not the best father to be but he loved us and I think it is enough. He doesn't deserve the hate and suffering when he is still alive because he is just misunderstood by people who have different views in life. For me, all fathers are heroes on their own when they care for their children.

This film is so touching. The way the story interplay’s between real life and the girl’s mind is a beautiful way to tell the story. The broken wind up is a great way of representing the hopelessness you feel watching a loved one being so sick. The poignant story is moving, reminding me of my own experience watching a loved one die in hospital. The music is beautiful and the ending represents how in dark times, hope still exists.

For years I haven’t been able to cry…I would get really sad or really frustrated and wanted nothing more to cry all my emotions out but was never able to. I don’t know the reason but I had try many different ways and nothing ever worked. But now…after this video, I cried for the first time in almost 4 years. It wasn’t much nor was it for longer than a few seconds but I still cried real tears and I am forever grateful for that 😭. Thank you for such a beautiful, tear-jerking story 💕

This video is so simple but we could learn so much from it. When a person is in a coma it means that their spirit is out of their body and got lost somewhere. So someone closed to that person should talk to her/him so that the spirit could follow the voice and able to return to his/her body. In this short film the music maybe usually played by the little girl was used so her spirit could return to her body. Peace everyone.

@@cgbrkstudio4888 There is a free application called UnityHub that allows you to launch previous versions of the software so your older projects don't break when the application is updated! Also, the Unity Asset store has great prefab assets that make it so you have to build almost nothing from scratch if you don't want to.

@@tthoreson664 I had a school project and upgraded the project from 2019.3.13 lts to 2019.3.15 and guess what?! It broke... Seemingly unfixable errors from build scripts. All this using the UnityHub. Unity version management is actually garbage.

@@elfferich1212 I don't know what to tell you, except back-up projects and expect, in general, that the stability of most graphics programs will be shaky when integrating new updates. Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush, they all run in to these problems. I've been in studios that insist on still using Maya2014 so they don't have to contend with Creative Cloud and the bloated tools added on since 2016. If you were a student, then I'm sure you heard the anguished screams of your fellow classmates when something crashed or corrupted and they lost hours of work on any number of programs. It is, I'm afraid, par for the course. Back up and protect anything you want saved before updating major software mid-project. This is not a "Unity" problem, it is an "all software" problem.
