A bumpy crosswind landing onboard Qantas Boeing 747 'Queen of the Skies' in Melbourne. As this aircraft celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first flight, I feel that this footage really highlights how well designed this aircraft was!

Just love that wing flex! And even more remarkable knowing that each of those engines weighs about a ton, yet the wing just bounces merrily on its forward trajectory. Love these type of landing videos, Paul. Especially when it's on my most favourite aircraft and an excellent vantage point inside the aircraft. Cheers m8.

@@margaretroselle8610 Oh it is wonderful news. Please Google it. Europe's attempt to displace the 747 was based largely on pride, so it was a moral competition which of course America won since America can rightly claim the moral high ground in providing for Europe's wives and children for so many decades in the absence of willingness by European men to do their job. Paul - Great 👍 video, but was wondering about the ‘WILD’ landing until I saw the actual landing of this Quantas 747-488ER coming into Melbourne. Wow those pilots did a great job...from the inside of the plane ✈️ it sure looked scary with that wing shaking like crazy, if I had been the passenger in that seat I surely would have been scared out of my wits. (I guess YOU were the passenger, duh??). Thanks for sharing this.

HA! THE A-380 WOULD HAVE LANDED MUCH MORE SMOOTHLY THAN THIS. THE 747 WILL SOON BE A PAST RELIC AND THE A-380 WILL FOREVER BE THE KING OF THE AIR. EUROPE!!! EUROPE!!! EUROPE!!!

um... I do quite like the A380 although it appears that it will cease production while the 747-8 Freighter will continue for the time being. :)

@@drServitis Unfortunately Airbus just killed the 380 programme. Shame, really, but that is the reality of a wrong decision made when they decided to launch the 380 (one of my all-time favourite aircraft, as a passenger).

@@paulstewart2ndchannel Boeing 747 - first flight, 1969 and still going strong. A-380 - first flight 2005 to challenge the 747 and now being discontinued. Silly Europeans.

More interesting were the Kruegers folding away when reverse thrust was engaged and then redeploying once out of rev. 👍

Watch a "wild crosswind landing" video. They are wild, wings dipping under and over the horizon, passengers reacting to every bump for example. Its a nice video but i just dont agree that it was 'wild' thats all.

We'll have to agree to disagree. To me, the wings were dipping above and below the horizon. There was no noise from the passengers because the aircraft was mostly empty.
