Harness is a no brainer for me, for all the reasons you give Tucker!

Well done Tucker. I would like to add, a real windsurf harness line is actually nicer than the Fone line because it doesn’t slap you in the face when pumping hard, like the Fone line. Just be sure to use the type of windsurf lines that can be opened completely and installed on the handles. Severn and Duotone make those type.

Thanks for your thoughts DW. I find the normal windsurf ones are a little heavy for my liking. Haven't had that slap in the face issue yet ;) -Tucker

Great stuff - thank you Tucker. I am a kiter/former windsurfer, learning to foil. I am 5'6" so finding myself holding my 5.5m wing high above my head a lot - especially in heavy wind. Just spent 2 hours on the water and my arms are beat. Loving the idea of this harness - but wondering what happens when just a bit overpowered and needing to hold the wing up high? Are there conditions when to avoid using a harness/line? Thanks!

Great question Lorenzo! You'll want to ride your harness line a bit longer.. about arms length so you can move the wing up high when you need to. I also tend to spread my attachment points a bit wider so I can slide my hook along the line to adjust power more easily. Different from a windsurf harness line where the attachment points are close together. -Tucker

Is this a good harness to use with a kitewing in winter on skis or skates?
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, works great for that as well. You might want a longer harness line in winter to make sure you can hold the wing higher into the air since you won't be on foil. -Tucker

That KT drifter S look soooo good. Will you do a review on the boards? I like to get the 4'4" for kite n tow. What are your thoughts?
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
All the drifter models are Magic! Keith is a seriously skilled shaper/designer. There's a reason major pro riders chose him to make their boards. The 4'4 is a great size for kite and tow. Although you might also consider the Drifter W 4'0 or 4'4. Just a little narrower so you can really lean into those turns. www.mackiteboarding.com/kt-2021-drifter-w-wake-foil-board/

I weigh 92 kg and we have relatively light winds 10-15 knots. What volume board, size foil and area foil?

Hi Tucker, do you think a Seat Harness will be too low for the Wing? Just curious, coz I know with Kite Foiling, the Seat Harnesses made a big comeback.
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
I've not tried one but I don't see why not. You'll probably want a longer harness line though. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding i was going through the rest of your video but one problem with the seat harness could be the inability to turn it around and lay on the tummy if having to paddle because of wind dying, or any other mishap with the Wing. Thoughts?
@mikemiller774
@mikemiller774 Жыл бұрын
@@raghuram2815 That might be the case. With dedicated wing harnesses often you can slide hook from one side to another on belt, and some have a hook that can be placed flat.

Hi I see your board is 85L I’m looking at going from my 110L naish to a 95L but just wondering how heavy you are in kg ? I’m 80kg was wondering if I could go 85L my ability level is similar to yours. Any info would be great.👍
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'd go smaller than 95L if you are looking for a noticeable change. Especially if you are keeping the 110L for lighter winds. The 85L is my "lightwind" board, I generally ride 70L in 20+ knots. -Tucker

MACkiteboarding thanks keeping the 110L but I’m in the waves and down winders wanting smaller board when I ask crew in the retail shop and tell them where I’m at ability wise and boards are getting smaller they just tell you what they are reading about weight, litres and board specs and I then ask them if they wing foil they say no I kite surf so ya kinda got to put the puzzle of specs together of where your at so that’s why I picked ya brain about what your riding. Not many crew in Oz doing it slow moving but it will take off at some point. Thanks again Matt 👍

Hey great idea, what if you could make the wing a lil bigger and have it float s lil higher, maybe even put a bridle on it.
@MACkiteboarding

Hahahaha^. You are not the first to say it. Harness lines are undoubtabley going to be popular. Just expands your ride time and reduces fatigue. Same thing as when the chickenloop was invented in kiteboarding. I'd challenge you to learn to wing foil and see what you think. Windsurfers said similar things about kiteboarding, surfers said the same about windsurfing. Heck, Paipo riders probably said the same about surfing when it came about. Just another way to get on the water and have fun. It's pretty exceptional how winging has drawn riders from every other water boardsport like no other sport has done before. I do all of the above and honestly winging is my favorite at the moment for the majority of conditions. Just makes mediocre days a lot more fun than the other options. Still hard to beat a kite in those sub 12 knot days though ;) -Tucker

@Ryan Goloversic I don't doubt his kiting skills. I just find winging quite a funny concept. It's even funnier to see a harness being used to 'relieve' stress on arms/shoulders.

@@coolhari2000 For sure not for everyone. I enjoy the healthy discussion...Two things nobody can deny. #1, Winging is the easiest and most affordable form of foil sailing. Also, the most accessible from a riding location standpoint #2 it offers far more freedom in waves. For me, it's the perfect combination of kite and surf foiling. I'd encourage you to try it if you ever have the chance. I've heard all the poo-pooing from kiters, surfers, windsurfers from beginner to pro level. Most are hooked for life after they learn. Like foiling, it's worth the effort. -Tucker
