Yesterday was a special day - Harco-Jan Folkerts birthday! No better way to celebrate it than with friends on the water! Especially when it's a surprise and you don't expect it. We managed to gather the wingfoil enthusiast of El Medano and had great fun going downwind all together. Have a look at the video and feel the freedom and joy of this new sport! Still don't know what the fuzz is of winging. It's slower than normal windsurfing and the position of the body seems awkward. Also no trapeze, so you can't do this for hours. I would not swap my surfing equipment for this.

The only advantage is you can get going in much lighter winds. I don't kite surf so a wing foil would be good to play in the light winds. Although I have a feeling the novelty would wear off quite quickly.

It is another sport.Completely different feelings from windsurf ones,it seems to fly, foil is super soft and needs a ridiculous power to be ride,so an incredible low amount of strength is needed.You aren't fast but staying on the foil take the most of you efforts,it is not quiet and easy as it seems.I made windsufing for 30 years,and currently do,and I also do wing.Well for more than 25 knots and huge shorebreaks beaches or 2/3 meters of waves windsurfing is better,no way.In other conditions winging is unbelivebly fun,give it a try.
