Wing Foiling Progression: Session 10 to 40 🌊
In this video, I share my journey from session 10 to 40 in wing foiling. If you've mastered stable flying and are ready to take the next step, this video is for you. Or if you're just interested to know an example of progression up to session 40 of course. 😄
I have used only Gong gear, thus all specific gear references are Gong only.

Thank you so much for commenting. I never did track any of my sessions while windsurfing. But while considering foiling, I came across a few KZfaq channels where people seem to track everything quite consistently. Now that I do it, I think it’s a very nice tool. I also note down wind direction and strength at the different spots, including my subjective experience in the conditions. And a sidenote. I can just feed in the entire session journal to ChatGPT and make it generate all the descriptive statistics and export a CSV file I can import into Excel. Pretty easy.

Great video and very hepful 👍 I'm currently on Curve XL and I find it quite good for my bodyweight of 95 kg. Now I'm considering to change to a H curve XL or even L ??? I'm at the beginning stage to learning jibes. May I ask what is your weight ? All the best Alfred

Hi, thanks for reaching out. I am very glad you found the video helpful. I found the transition fra Curve XL to Curve H L easy. A lot of lift is gained from the slightly higher AR. My weight however is 84 kg (at the moment), thus at Curve H XL could be better suited for you. It also depends on if it is a "all purpose" front wing, or light/high wind setup?

Thanks for this incredible analysis. I started on a Lance 5.8 and currently on X-Over XL, looking to upgrade at least the foil as I feel it's stopping my progresses with the jibe (too slow when turnin). For the board have you seen the new mint? Or are you considering only inflatables?

I was actually thinking about buying the new Mint board. But then a good offer came in on a used Fanatic Sky Wing Team ed. 85 L for sale (less than half the price of a new Mint). So I jumped at it. Now I've had three sessions on a hard board, and I have to say that I think everything is easier on every aspect compared to the inflatable boards. It feels calmer and more stable in flight, touchdown is not a problem unlike the inflatables, and I can take off in less wind because it's easier to gradually push out of the water. I still think the inflatables have their place, and for me, it's a big advantage to be able to have it all in the boot of the car (and kids in the back seat).

@@simon-surf If I'm going to get inflatables it's going to be for a specific low wind board. The new Hipe diamond looks interesting

I am considering dropping foil size to a more intermediate kit, will this slow my progression or help it? I also SUP foil and struggle to keep the foil under water! I can't 0:02 yet jibe either when winging thanks
