A shame that McCartney hasn't included songs from London Town and BTTE in his setlists since 1979. Two of my favorite Wings albums.
@duffbaker95547 ай бұрын
Apparently, McCartney doesn't rate BTTE very highly-in fact, it's the only Wings album that hasn't received a boxset release, which is a shame because it is a great album. It's definitely in my top three fave McCartney/Wings albums.

You have some very historical footage here Joe. Did they do the complete album ?. Macca doesn't seem to play these songs these days, he certianly didn't play any of these at his Copenhagen concert a few months back. A bit more vocal practice and these guys could easily go on tour !. I havn't played the original ''Getting Coser'' for a few years now & hearing this has impressed on me just how good & catchy the song really is, same with Open Tonight, that's a lovely little song almost like a lullaby. Spin It On was cool to see & hear too. Again & Again & Again was another song almost lost in the mists of time, great to hear that too. Old Siam is a kick ass rocker that pumps along nicely, these guys probably sing it better than Macca could now days. Steve Holly was in top form too. Great to also hear the two Rockestra songs. The Eggmen....what a killer band !. take a spare battery (or two) next time mate . lol

Getting Closer sounds great live. Too bad Paul did not write a better lyric, the salamander line killed this track when it was released, the critics pounced on that lyric. Some songs go over better live, examples are THE NIGHT BEFORE, EIGHT DAYS A WEEK and now we discover that GETTING CLOSER sounds great in a concert setlist. Juber hit the lottery - he married the daughter of mega millionaire TV producer Sherwood Schwartz - cha ching - The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island etc. So Juber leads a peaceful calm life with zero financial stress.

They may play well as another wrote, but they don't sing very good and the parts are not well blended. I have played in bands over the USA for decades and I wouldn't pay a penny to watch these guys. There comes a time when musicians need to quit trying to grab that last speck of spotlight and flame and retire from the stage. Yes, keep playing and singing in your home and with friends, but not something such as this. What is amazing is that the musicians we all know never seem to understand that when they age, male or female, they lose that high vocal register and can no longer reach those notes of their youth. This is when they should tune down a half-step on their guitars, change the key to one that is lower or capo up in order to sing at a lower octave. There are others that currently sound bad. John Sebastian, Peter and Gordon. Joey Molland of Badfinger and even Paul McCartney come to mind. McCartney is fine in the studio but when you perform live it takes a lot more vocally. His band is now singing more to cover for him. Even Mick Jagger has females to hit the high notes for him. For a great example of two that should have retired follow this link (can skip to 40 seconds on the video): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otplmrFl2sjbaHk.html . I would rather hear a cover band of youthful musicians singing this song in a nice smooth, tightly woven melody as opposed to paying to hear this performance. Sometimes...original is not the better of choices.
