All the European cards have an "EE" in the corner so they are easy to sort out. This applies to bird cards, bonus cards, and even the round end tiles.

It would be really cool. But AFAIK, I haven't seen any SM game series getting multiple stand alone boxes.

Be nice to see a Toucan. And I'm sure someone could figure out an interesting ability to put on cards with an ostrich or a dodo.

Can you explain topographically accurate? Clear cut forests could be the grasslands--sadly.

@@LeeKenshin7 I just can't help but notice that it seems like he really likes both this and Tapestry, but has repeatedly said that he'd like people to value the games we already have rather than following the hype of 'the cult of the new'. :)

@@jamesjacobthomson6198 I think both are true. He was aware of the hype behind Tapestry so gave it more than his usual treatment before his review. Ended up being one of his best quality reviews, IMO. I wasn't at all surprised that he gave it "only" a seal of approval based upon his final thoughts. If he gave the game a lower rating to intentionally cull the hype, then I would question his integrity as a reviewer. Disclaimer: I bought into the hype of Tapestry but after 10 plays, sold it.

@@LeeKenshin7 I agree, his review of Tapestry was very good. And I think that having integrity as a reviewer will always be coloured by subjective views. In this case, I think he may have given the game a higher rating had it not been surrounded by so much hype. It had to fill some pretty big shoes, after all. Of course, we'll never know (unless we ask him). In the end, it's not the rating that matters, it's whether or not we (the players, not the reviewers) actually like the game. :)

I have to disagree with you. It's about trying to find the best way to use the cards available to make an engine that works for you.

Yeah but you dont know what cards are available right. You get 3 to choose and if they dont match your hands strat then you have to dig in the deck. Even further exaserbaits the problem when your opponent has all the advantages in the open information pool. One player will always have the upper hand when it comes to open information. You might say well ill just counter them but they still have closed info to you and so you dont know how to handicap them. Then you have the resourse pool which is also dice. In the end this is a luck fest that i almost want to say is just a solo game. There is very few ways to play competitive if you get locked out with a bad start hand. Terraforming Mars is a mess agreed but its luck only comes from cards so Id say though it suffers the same problem I'd play that over Wingspan any day. For wingspan just buy Milles Borne its faster, fits the theme, and has player interaction its also not fair but fun

Mark Glass You sound like you have never played the game, yet have all kinds of detailed opinions about it. It’s more of a tactical game than a long - term strategy game, that is part of the design. “Digging through the deck” for cards that “match your strategy” is nearly always the path to getting slaughtered in this game. That does not make it a luck fest. It makes it a game for short - term rather than long - term planning. That said, I am oversimplifying to some degree. You can play a long term strategy regarding resources, for example setting up the ability to get more cards or more eggs. You can use those extra resources to try to optimize each turn.

Exactly you either play passively (like in Mille Borne) fitting your situation to 3 options of cards and whatever pip is rolled (your correct its tactics not stratagy) but then its a luck fest. You are playing a scripted game at that stage. Lets say you have 3 cards in your hand then that gives you 6 options to set up your next series of turns. 3 on the table and 3 in your hand. One of those 6 cards always seems to be the best bet because your trying to set up a combo usually to get the max points out in that and future turns. Lets say you choose card x from display to pair with y and z in your hand. Now you have to set up your turn for getting resourses (if the dice were in your favor), then set up the ability to place (egg cost), then spend those turns subsequently getting those cards out. Now you have a decent engine built. However it just took a bunch of turns to set it up which is mandatory with little decision making except the occasional maybe I should take the new card in display or grab resourses while the dice favor me. Then you have your engine and then its basically getting cards random or from the display and trying to trigger them. With the best option that fits your setup (your cookie cutter mold you were forced into early in the game). Maybe your opponent lucked out and the display favors their set up so you can't really stop them without wasting a precious turn to do the draw action (and maybe due to your cards you can't optimally block them). You are so restricted in what you can do it defeats the purpose of actions in a lot of turns.
