@@guna7049 yes, it is amazing still. At max setting it is loud, but I like the white noise. I probably have over 500 hours of use on it now and it runs like the day I bought it. You will have to change filters every so often. Blow out the front screen with compressed air every month or so, replace the carbon filter every 3 months, and HEPA filter every 6 months. Relatively inexpensive filters though you can buy in bulk online. Definitely one of the best air purifiers. I've had only one issue and that was with the particle sensor, it will collect dirt over time and you'll have to blow it with some gentle air to clean it off. It's right at the top and labeled.

I haven't had this type of issue. When we talk about the air quality sensor and the auto mode combination, I think the auto mode is useless only when you use it in a room that has a huge concentration of PM 2.5 particles, which this Winix can't detect. In ambients with smoke presentence, the Winix 5500-2 will finish a job!

@@michaelpast19 well if you hotbox you'll take away about half of the density in the room in 30 min or less but as far as smell maybe like a 25% reduction in smell maybe 30% but I use a humidifier to freshen up the room after I blaze and open the window lol that's your best bet

In my opinion, the Winix 5500-2 is a better option. It is ok to use it in a smaller room than recommended.

It depends on the situation. Winix 5500-2 has an Odor sensor that will detect only odors and not dust and other particles. If your room is dusty, it will do a fantastic job, but if not, you will have to combine manual and auto modes for the best results. The third speed isn't as loud as the fourth speed (Turbo Mode). In video or review on the airpurifierfirst.com website, I mentioned that using an air purifier on Turbo Mode, for the first few minutes and then switching it to the Auto Mode or the lower speed, is good advice, and that might solve your concerns.

Which Fellowes model do you have? I plan to do a review of some their's models. What do you think about Fellowes in general?

I've researched their brand, and they seem legit and reputable. In the future, I will definitely test some air purifiers from Medify Air.

That smell is ozone...

For pets and humans it's bad to smell but as stayed its small amount. I have ozone and it smells like bleach have to air out before enter. Sometimes smells to bad

The issue with this one is that its air quality sensor detects only odors, so it doesn't matter if your environment is dusty the light will stay blue all the time. But, if your environment got gas polluted (smoke, wildfire, odors) the light will definitely change color.

It will help, actually, it's perfect for those situations. But, on auto mode, it will work best for odors (due to the lack of the dust sensor).

That's not an everyday situation. I can't remember exactly what the circumstances were, but in the winter, air pollution in my region is high, so I was capable of getting those values. You haven't seen that the air is of bad quality because in the summer it is usually less polluted. I suggest waiting for the winter and then checking if there is any difference. Anyway, I'm sure there will be days when the air is polluted more than usual, so keep tracking the air quality around you. Vacuuming, smoking, cooking, even walking through the room can spoil the air quality. It is a juicy topic, and you seem very curious, so you might find it interesting to test how an air purifier behaves in different everyday situations.

My coway 400S seems to keep the air in my open concept house about 1600 square feet an AQI of about 12 with my air quality monitor. Always good. The UG for PM2.5, 10, and 1.0 always seem to be between ( 1 and 3 ) so super low.. The air quality in my house probably started at around 80 so the particles weren't that high. I think the UG started before I got the air purifier around 30 so an air quality of about 80 if I'm correct.. Like I said the only time I've seen air quality that high is when I was right near someone's cigarette or smoke or something... But then that clears out.. but never in a room inside of a house since I've brought my quality monitor in general.. But it's fun and I'll keep checking I opened up a new world and I kind of love it. Ever since I got the air purifier just because my girlfriend always smokes in the bathroom all these years. I could always taste the smoke in my mouth drove me crazy. And yes when she smokes in the bathroom even with the door shut the window open in the fan on 25 ft away. The quality goes from 12 to about 80 If my air purifier is on smart. But then it kicks in. So I have it set to a smart schedule that when she's home it automatically is turned on high that made a big difference.. It definitely taught me so much about all this air quality around me inside and outside which also led me to learning about stuff through your awesome videos!! Firstly, I turn on the device at the max speed. After some time (approx 10-15 mins), I switch it to auto mode or any lower speed. Depending on how dirty/clean the air is, I choose a higher/lower speed.

Winix 5500-2 is fantastic for dust! It is for rooms up to 360 sq. ft. If you are looking for a product that has to cover a smaller room, then you might consider Levoit Core 300 or Blueair 411.

Smartmi P1, Coway Mighty, and Airdog X3 have very accurate smart sensors.

If you properly changed the filter, then you have to reset the filter reset indicator. Go to the 6:58 to see the process.

@@AirPurifierFirst I just bought it. It came with the filter wrapped in plastic, so when I took off the plastic I can't remember which way I put it back in. I'm just trying to see if there's any difference how you put the filter back in after unboxing

The single unit wouldn't be effective in a 700 sq. ft. room. I believe you will need two of them.

It's best to test PlasmaWave performance on your own and then decide if you like to use it or not. If you asked because of ozone emission, I am sure it emits so little ozone that is well below the danger level. Or else this device would not be CARB certified.

The Winix 5500-2 is making fantastic results in rooms up to 360 sq. ft. You might get good results in a 500 sq. ft. room, but you will have to run the device in the Turbo Mode more often. Because of that, I think it's better to go with a bigger air purifier.

I didn't test it for weed smoke, but I think it will neutralize the smoke/odor because I have read some successful studies and tests on that field.

The pre-filter is washable and does not need to be changed. On the other hand, the carbon filter has to be changed after one year of usage, even though it's washable. The True HEPA filter is not washable at all.

I don't have an answer to this question because I haven't tested it in a similar situation. But, it could help, as I read some positive experiences on that.

I'm wondering the same thing. I returned the first one I bought because it only changed colors when I initially turned it on. I bought another one and the same thing is happening. The light never changes ..just stays blue. I'm wondering if is even working. I know the air quality is not excellent as we live in the country and get a lot of dust. How long should I run it before it will show visible dirt on the filter do I know it is indeed working. Thank you.

Yes, you have to buy a replacement (HEPA + Activated Carbon) filter approximately every 12 months. The Activated Carbon filter is washable, but it would be great if you replace it too.

I bought a Honeywell purifier for my mother and now cannot find filters for it. I purchased replacement filters for it when I purchased and wanted to restock now and cannot find them. I think they have discontinued the filters while still selling the units.
