@Pam Dolittle It is pretty disgusting how people are assumed to be guilty before any evidence has surfaced. The media is a HUGE PROBLEM when it comes to this because they like to report on sensational headlines just for clicks and they will make someone appear guilty. JD and MM are perfect examples of this. When I looked into the MM case I was appalled at all of the lies that were being promoted as if they were facts. As someone who has personally dealt with F.A. and an abusive ex I have ALWAYS been a huge advocate of INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! I just wish more people would do the same. This is why due process is so damn important and frankly, why we need to introduce some serious repercussions for people who are proven to have falsely accused someone. The average person who gets targeted by a narcissist's smear campaign or an unscrupulous person out for some gain, often doesn't have the resources to fight this kind of stuff in court. We need a good deterrent to counter this bullshit.

You guys have no idea who his nephew is what his put his mother through. From stealing her car Ricki bought her gambling and having guys go to his mother's house looking for him and demanding the money he owes. He had put firecrackers in cats mouth. These are things that has happened and of course people over in the states have no idea. Many of us in the island knew this was a lie because of the constant drama with that jerk.

@@81stCommander I know... I approach EVERY case with an open mind to the truth because the truth is what matters, not the history of the accuser vs. the accused. Andy is being quite hypocritical by using the nephew's past against him when he didn't use Johnny's previous arrests against him (they were few but still exist). People need to remember that just because someone settles or drops their charges doesn't mean they're guilty of lying or the crime they're accused of. It's so frustrating to remind people that I thought were already open-minded to be more open-minded!

Or it happens a lot of the time the richer person uses the court and the fact lawers are alot to keep a case going but due to money they can get people in not so money rich and make them agree to terms . It happens all the time just because someone court wins doesn’t mean abuse or whatever didn’t happen . I’m sure you know that I’m just saying because it does happen .

@@ZiGGi03 That doesn't change the evidence, and a lot of victims have pro-bono lawyers or lawyers who make a deal to get paid when they win. People going after a celebrity with millions in their bank have no shortage of lawyers willing to work for free on the hope of getting paid the big bucks in the end. This guy had no criminal case. He never filed a criminal complaint. This was him manufacturing a story to try to get money from Martin, and when Martin called his bluff and was ready to present evidence to support his position the guy balked and ran. This is what extortionists do. The threat is issued to get a settlement, it's blackmail "either give me money or I tell people you did this". When they're called out on it they usually backtrack and run, realizing that once they lie in court they could face perjury charges and a defamation case after.

In support of your comment, Trump has notoriously ab*sed the court system to intimidate ppl, businesses, and the govt into dropping their cases ever since his first housing discrimination case back in 1972. He’d do this by filing motions and delaying cases for many years to run up lawyer fees for all parties involved. BUT it’s all about the evidence. In that case, the evidence showed he was in the wrong. In support of the OP’s comment, take JD’s case for example... There was overwhelming evidence on his side; NONE of AH’s 14 allegations were supported by the evidence. And they dug deep, going back 40 years to try to find anything that could help support her claims. But in the end, she not only couldn’t produce evidence backing her claims, the evidence also proved she lied. And there was also irrefutable evidence showing that AH ab*sed JD and her past partner. That’s why it’s important that we all wait til evidence is presented before calling someone guilty in the court of public opinion. And once the evidence is presented we have to actually review it, not just look at flashy headlines and regurgitate comments from randos on social media.

@@bobmarley2140 This wasn't a case of abuse. The nephew claimed he had a consensual relationship with his uncle and when he broke it off Ricky started stalking him. He filed for a restraining order. The only reason Ricky was in trouble was because incest, consensual or not, is a crime in Puerto Rico. Also bear in mind the nephew asked for a restraining order against him to be dropped. Apparently he was stalking a woman. I would hazard a guess that the nephew has issues

@@ashtonderojas821 It’s an Abbreviation for ‘False Allegations’. Not only is it just a quick way to say it but also because KZfaq likes to erase comments when certain words are used. They have even erased my comments for using those words but it was a comment referring to the JD trial and KZfaq was erasing A LOT of comments about that situation(they still do). Absolutely! I'll probably be verbally attacked for saying this but I'm going to do it anyway. I find it very suspicious that his nephew spoke out yesterday on being threatened and then to say "I'm dropping this on my own accord" today. This is a red flag for me about R Martin. It's really rubbing me wrong. I'm not saying R Martin is guilty whatsoever, but I'm still not going to say he's innocent either. There's not enough info to determine it either way imo. And I feel we need to be very careful on dismissing a POSSIBLE victim (another possible MALE victim) by judging him completely for his mental illness and arrest record. As a comment above stated...celebrities get away with this kind of thing often due to who they are and how they're perceived by the public.

Yeah, I think the two year restraining order from a previous girlfriend is a pretty good indicator of this young man's character. You don't get that kind of restraining order from just being an a-hole, you get that from being a stalker making violent threats. My guess is that when this guy realized that Martin had enough evidence to prove where he was and what he was doing at all times he knew he had no chance of getting any money out of this, so that's when he dropped it. To be honest, if I was Martin I would probably sue the guy for defamation and put all that evidence out in public the same way Depp did, that might be the only way he can fully clear his name. He shouldn't have to, but like you said when this kind of accusation is made, even if you're innocent, it sticks and people use it to abuse you forever. He shouldn't have to go through that. Maybe men like Depp and Martin fighting back against these false claims and shaming their lying accusers in court is what needs to happen to start to fix this imbalance?

I’m glad he came face to face with him in a courtroom!! In my opinion if Ricky was quilty at all I highly doubt he would face him in a court of law. I’m happy for Ricky!!

As a Puerto Rican what this nephew tried to do to his uncle Ricky is embarrassing. Puerto Ricans are a very close and respect family values With these uncertain volatile times some our young generation are having a hard time addressing their issues I never believed the charges due to the greatness of Ricky Marlins success and his heart of kindness in helping young children in Puerto Rico plus all his other generous work on making this world a better place . Yet as a Boricua my head goes out to Ricky. Even with this case being dismissed his heart must be broken Que Dios lo Bendiga siempe

Agreed. And in cases like this, there are two "possible victims." They both get the benefit of the doubt until the evidence is presented, unless we have a real reason to believe otherwise.

When this first came out, the majority of posts called him a pre dater - a few of us were going after them, you have to hear some facts first. After the JD case, we have to do better & I think real victims are going to need to gather some proof for their support *if possible*

What happened to Ricky is very reminiscent of what Michael Jackson went through. Yes they weren't family, but they did use false Allegations to try and get money. I didn't believe that Michael did it and I don't believe that Ricky did it either.

I am so glad he was shown to be innocent. The problem is that his reputation has been smeared and put into question and people will continue to talk about it and bring it up. Others might or will try to jump on the bandwagon now that these charges have been leveled at him. We have learned this from the "mee too" movement..even if untrue, it is now out there in the public..look at what happened to Michael Jackson when false charges were leveled at him! People were still trying to jump on the bandwagon after his death!!

Ricky Martin doesn't seem the type to throw away everything on a relationship with his nephew. I think I heard Ricky was abused when he was young, so he wouldn't do that to his only family member. It's the burden of the rich and famous that there will always be people who except you to help them out, even though they do nothing to help themselves!

It's absolutely horrifying that we live in a society where anyone can make up a lie about us and immediately, to be politically correct, we are to completely cancel the person based solely on the word of another. This is not foolproof. It is bound to be abused and has been. I refuse to take part in this irresponsible trend that ruins innocent lives overnight.

Never believed it from the start. I have been a fan since his Menudo days. He was my Menudo bias, and I had their poster on my wall growing up. He has one of the kindest hearts I have ever seen. I hate when rotten people try to take advantage of and hurt those who are the kindest to them.

Thank you for covering this! I have had the pleasure of meeting Ricky several times over many years and he is such a wonderful and kind person! I feel he is completely innocent of this. As soon as I heard this I did not believe the allegations at all! This is very very sad for his family, I hope the nephew gets the help he needs♥️

If anything positive came out of the AH allegations for me - I learned to reserve judgement. I don't assume anymore. And it never mattered what the accusers gender was. But I had a tendency to believe the accuser. Because it was hard for me to fathom anyone wanting to hurt another like that. To purposely destroy a life cuz you're mad or have hurt feelings is so far out of my own thinking. I have learned a lot since then though.

It’s good to hear that justice was served and upheld in the courts. I didn’t know a lot about the case, just some bits and pieces here and there. What I had heard was disturbing and very out of character for Ricky Martin. To even imagine he may have done what his nephew alleged was very disturbing. Whether you know it or not Andy, you are a Reporter. I think you’re selling your self short on that point. You have been fair and honest with this community and provide facts to us about news worthy entertainment events, information and beyond. You know what makes a lousy reporter and you always do your best to get the facts these “journalists” leave in the trash can. Thanks for doing what you love to do, with integrity and transparency!

I had no doubt that these accusations were untrue. Not only because I’ve loved the man ever since he performed in the US at the 1999 Grammys. How can someone accuse Ricky when he’s never had anything but love and kindness for people and volunteers and supports many charities? The nephew needs some deep psychological therapy. The nerve of his nephew to try to ruin his life even right after the Johnny Depp trial. Ricky is a big humanitarian and this is just BS. Ricky The World Loves You! Rock On Ricky! 🤍
