I heard recently that the machines are set up to have a certain pressure of the claw when going down but then once it closes and starts to come back up it reduces the pressure of the claw I always hate it when you get up real good clamp-on something and then as soon as it picks up it just slides out or when the claw machine raises up 3in and then closes like what's the point

@@TwoStacks217, they seem to (be programmed to?) kinda "jump" or "bounce" when they hit the top too. Like a reverberation from the claw hitting the threshold, so that "helps" the claw to drop the item as well.
