Winning Mean Reversion RSI Trading Strategy for Forex

In this video I demonstrate a Mean Reversion Trading Strategy using RSI or Relative Strength Index Indicator for GBP/USD Forex pair on the daily timeframe.
I include a simple bailout exit and fixed pip stop loss.
I include 2 studies: One is a regular optimisation and out of sample test. And the other is a walk forward analysis test.
Data is from Oanda from 2008 - October 2021 and all the programming and testing is done on MultiCharts.

Excellent stuff. I've been using a mean reversion technique (RSI 10 is my default) on energy and precious metals leveraged ETF's here in Canada. I get more opportunities than enough. Love the cuffs - I wear them myself.

Another great presentation. I bought the training program and it has really opened my eyes to the small errors, I had been making. Forget the "I made $6000 in 30 seconds" stuff, this is far superior and easier, using readily available indicators available on any platform.

Thanks Jarrod, creativeuse of the RSI . Maybe a Walk Forward and a Monte Carlo Analysis videos are in order now since you begin to introduce these in your videos without explaining the basics, these more advanced tests can reveal a whole set of biases in normal backtesting even with the out of sample data being used . Thank you for your hard work .

Hello. Very informative video! I never really looked at the RSI but this has made me a believer. I trade the hourly chart and just curious if this strategy could be applied on that time frame? Best regards.

Forgive my ignorance. Is "walk-forward" different from "out-of-sample" testing?

@@davemakesmagic Yes there are some differences. Walk forward analysis creates a back test report made completely from out of sample results. Look out for a video on it from me in the next couple of videos.

Thanks. I was wondering how the MFI vs the RSI would do with the same currency. I have found that when both are overbought or oversold on certain currencies, you can obtain good results

I would love to see a guide on walk forward analysis. Theres a lot of trading scripts out there, especially on trading view, It would be nice to try and optimize them via that method and see if any perform over the course of 3-4 months.

There are many times when the RSI falls a bit short of the 25 and 75 levels and we lose a potential trade. What about greed? Do you have any strategy for small deposits in your arsenal (50-100 dollars, for example)?
