I think the reason why they didn't gave us something new, like a remix, or what is because they wanted to promote their new song, that's why they just leave it like that. Still, I think the performance is great, the live singing had a greater impact with this performance, and of course, their swag and stage presence as well.

So why was not any of those songs performed. I get it, why not show there newest song to promote a new comeback. Nicki M. did it with her new song, super freaky girl which was released 2 weeks ago. and she opened her set with this along with a half dozen other hits, but she was being awarded for Vanguard award. BlackPink members were there knowing what there job was, and it was to promote there brand, BlackPink, and they did it with class, everyone who was someone wanted pictures with them, so I am sure they were making new work acquaintances, possible collaborators, and just new fans. which will only help them in the future.

i think the reason is they were confirmed to perform in the vma after a week of releasing the song. and being korean they need ro travel a day before to prepare for the performance. people have high expectations but they dont know the preparation require to give this performance. its not like you are in america that they have enough time to prepare or as you mentioned in latin vma. they can't also alter the stage as they like if its like they are in their own concert. it is their debut performance, vma will not give them that privilege. just saying my opinion. for us it is a great performance after all these reason. ☺️☺️☺️😍😍😍

Yeah, it wasn't as extravagant as their other stages. As we all know they are not the biggest highlight of the VMA. So they have a very limited time like the other artists. It was Nicki's and Bad Bunny's that are like all-out. Compared to Nicki's stage, which is like the main event, Blackpink went for the styling that can be easily worn (since they went in thru the red carpet, and they would present Anitta after their performance) with no props on stage, as not to overshadow other main stages, they could do that but y'know being there is already a privilege.. the only problem I have with that stage is that I can't see them very clearly, it's the lighting that's underwhelming and the smoke blocking field of view in my opinion but the girls' performance is top tier as always.

I agree. The time allocation is short plus the short time they prepared. You can compare in the korean award shows where thay have months to prepare. For red carpet outfits, i blame thier respective brand but they might also cannot prepare for the short time to come up/create a custom made for them. Who knows. One thing. They slayed!!!!!!

For me the performance was great and the best stage of the show but yeah, YG do bigger and better stage performances. At the end this is MTVs staff and YG can't do much. This song will be at its full potential in their concerts with Band Six making some arrangements and YG staff making the stage.

When I first heard bp would be performing at the vmas I did expect them to go all out kinda like how they did with coachella (a live band or maybe a remixed version) but I think they were aiming for something simple yet effective enough to draw ppl in as it is a pre-release but also because of the time constraints I would presume because their schedule has been COMPLETELY packed, they released pink venom amd immediately started preparing for the title track and the album(learning the choreo, styling, maybe some jacket shoots etc) ,shot the inkigayo performance along with the shooting for the title track mv and as soon as that was over flew straight to the US for the vmas. Regardless I think they killed it and simply showed us who blackpink are through that performance.

The only thing for me was that when I saw them with the Black outfit in the carpet, I was hoping that they would put the Pink outfit of the teasers for the performance, I think they would need some changes to work on stage but still, I imagined a whole think and created expectations, not their fault though.
