Hi Clive, I'm truly flattered by your compliment but it's kinda easy to make fishing films on the river Wye and I never forget how blessed I am to call it home. Thank you sincerely for your time in both watching and commenting. It not only helps the channel grow but it's a great source of inspiration.

I have a past as a competitive angler, which has always stayed with me. This means that every fishing session of mine is permeated by hyperactivity, constant changes when the fish is not biting, and in a certain sense, even stress. When fishing, I am exactly the opposite of you. This only increases my esteem for you and makes me appreciate your videos even more, which inspire peace of mind. Well done and keep it up.

Hi, I have great admiration for the match angler and their tremendous work ethic, the graft they put into an event is beyond me as alas I am a very lazy angler and fishing has now become the excuse to just be there. Thank you for taking the time to comment it's very much appreciated and wishing you a Happy New Year

@@silentangling hopefully 2024 as well 🤣 Seriously though I can’t wait to get out on the rivers, but can’t be doing that 3 hour drive when they’re in such poor condition. Even my local rivers which have some small chub and the odd good perch, are massively I. Flood and running so fast, and muddy they’re not producing 😳 Roll on the spring

Hi Craig, The Wye valley holds so much more than just the fishing a canoe trip or even a bit of wildcamping/bushcrafting is well worth the trip. Hope you can make it down at some point this year and look forward to following your channel.

@@silentangling I have dome friends who canoe/wildcamp as they go down river, as well as some who hike/wildcamp, so luckily I have a big car, as I'd need both fishing gear ,and my bushcraft/wildcamping stuff lol

More excellence. The river is more mysterious and foreboding when like this, so when it gives up a treasure it's more satisfying. The crampons are excellent although some wear the wrong boots and complain about them coming off....they need a heel kicker to stay on, as yours have.

It's usually binoculars that get tossed onto the bank with me 🤣 followed by a remark from the wife " how much did you pay for them ' oh a couple of quid, anyway that slight fib was enough to see a shall we say a cheaper pair arrive from that mighty river company. When Spicy Shrimp And Prawn first hit the tackle shops back in the day,it accounted for mega catches of Chub from various southern and eastern rivers and a few Barbel for me. I’ve two pots of unopened glug and tempted to buy some more boilies. It was a fantastic bait back then,so maybe worth another shot.

I fished the Wye last week, and learned some very important lessons. I'm no spring chicken, and I've never had a problem before. But this day the river was the same as in the video. Had a ferocious Barbel bite, I stood up and slipped over, got up, only to see my rod disapear into the river. From now on, I will always use the baitrunner.And I think I should invest in those crampons that you put on your boots. Cost me about£190 that day. What with the day ticket, petrol and loss of a new rod and my favourite reel.Did have a good ending though, I did catch a pb Barbel later on.

Hi Martin, Ouch!! that's an expensive lesson but you at least youre here to tell the story. Every year you hear of the a life being lost in the Wye. Congratulations on the new P.B. and many thanks for both watching and taking the time to comment. Wishing you a happy New year

My rod ended up in the river at Throop. Luckily used my other rod to catch the line. Rod and reel rescued with a 6lb Chub on the end. Always use my bait runners from now on while Barbel fishing.

Great video. What are the things called you attach to your wellies to grip the mud ? They could be very useful for safety and id love to get some.
@silentangling
@silentangling 7 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, Many thank for taking the time to comment. I'f you search for micro spikes for hiking you should find plenty, make sure your boots have a heel kicker or a heel that has a ledge otherwise they tend to slip off. They're not the perfect solution and if you walk in them they fill up with debris but they certainly help with muddy banks. Hope this helps and thanks again for your input it really helps the channel grow

@silentangling what's the heaviest lead/feeder you have used on the wye in flood?
@silentangling
@silentangling 7 ай бұрын
Hi @@Accyboom , That's a great question as it all really depends on the rod, as I prefer a 1 1/5 lb tc rod I rearley go above 3oz of lead. If the flow it too strong I will upstream cast and give a big bow of line I look for drop backs. The Wye is a spate river and will rise and fall in a few hours so theres always somewhere to find fish. I'll be dishing the middle/lower Severn next season so it'll be 2lb rods and 5oz feeders. Hope this helps
