We do the same thing with twins on our farm. We believe that the cow and the calf both gain from that trick. Nice video stay safe hopfuly calving season goes good for you. We had 70 calves this year it was a success .

I arrived at this video by accident . I was looking at using tractors used for snow removal in the 1950's ,saw Tyson Kucheruk in High Prairie, Alberta getting his Caterpillar tractor started, and now to this video . Tyson has received high praise from the unlikely of all sources the Toronto Star , better known as the Red Star . Needless to say , we all are indebted to Tyson ,the agricultural and live stock sector for giving Canadian the quality and high standard of living through their hard work and dedication to their profession .

The calves are always funny when you spread new bedding. Certainly enough new calves too start another herd.

LMAO.. almost got Shaun to talk!! Heifers like that get a trailer ride! Not worth getting hurt.. Temporary/permanent light pole by the head gate... Maybe make it more permanent when the 2×4 falls😎😁 Thanks for the update Tyson!! Calves are looking good!!!

@@Northern_Farmer Welcome, i'm a big fan, brings me back to the days when I was a kid and helped around the various farms where I lived, but certainly nothing like you have. They were the days of John Deere 60 and Farmall H series tractors and square hay and straw bails and 4 wheel wagons and silos.

I love watching that bale grinder. It’s the neatest thing. My that’s a lot of snow. We have only had 3 inches all winter. Lots of babies 💜 means lots of work & $$$.

@@Northern_Farmer Likely got double A rechargeable batteries in them that are replaceable. Nice cattle operation there in Northern Alberta ... the Frozen North! Lacombe is similar.

Good to see calving is goin well for you guys. We didn't get that dump of snow in NW Sask but still have a good snow pack of 6 to 12". Been moving malt barley out lately. Sure warmed up the last couple days here. Go Oilers by the way! Hope they can spank the Kings tonight.

4:20 that nice little fellow is it a new crossing/breed or just mother natures sense of humor? Looks a little like the ears of a Brahman. Nice setup of windbreaks. What you get in the form of snow this year we are getting as water, flooding and mud all over southern Sweden.

Yeah if the adopted calf drinks the new mums milk for 48hrs the new smell will start to come through its fur so then the coat can come off, at least thats what ive found.

@@Northern_Farmer you put up a video of in calf heifers coming off a truck , you could see in the video a few wild looking ones .............had a man eater calve today .........she was out in a paddock away from the shed , tried to come through a electric fence to get to me inside the tractor as i drove past her on the road way .....takes 2 weeks for her to calm down .

Get rid of the mean cows as fast as you can . I got run over by an angus cow when I was a kid. Some are just mean . Need to turn them into hamburger once the calf is raised

You do have some nice looking animals although I have been saying it to you before..lol but still. Yeah that is a good trick of using her dead baby's hide, but I know what you mean, cause she can still make out the different smell from the legs ah little bit;) but maybe you should try to rub some lose salt on the adapted calf. Especially if she's hungry for salt, as in salt hungry. But that's my opinion. So good video of that:)

That dead calf skin trick. I had heard about it but always heard it didn’t work so great. That’s cool it works! U just tie it on him? How long u leave it on? Till they are paired up good? How long that usually take on average?

can vary wildly from a few days to never .........that cow i reckon by the way she is standing will be ok .......but it takes time out of your day ......
