Winter Camping with A Wood Stove: The Best Part!

While technically the third of the series, the wood stove takes the back burner as I highlight the joy of camping in the winter wilderness. Now warm and comfortable, I can enjoy nature and learn to cook! Shot along the Livingstone River in Alberta.

Possibly your best, most cinematic, effort to date. Specifically the slow motion water and ice and soundtrack. The world around me disappeared for a short time while I was totally mesmerized. Well done, and thank you so much!

I work too hard... too many hours at work... but the little time I get watching your uploads is a valuable lesson in what I should be doing and aiming for... it’s nice to see someone living and not just existing...keep them coming it means a lot... all the way over in the UK... and hope you all have a Merry Christmas everyone

WOW! AMAZING! Wonderfully shot video. Beautiful music. Stunning scenery. Who could want anything more. As a fellow Albertan I believe we have some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world if we just take the time to stop and look at it. I SO want to do what you do. Slim, I think you're the "Bob Ross" of camping. I enjoy the information and amount of work you put into the videos, but I enjoy the calm and peaceful way you present the information as much if not more. Look forward to many more!

That was some top notch cinematography there, Slim. With your editing and music you really managed to convey the serenity and tranquility of your surroundings. Add to these your unique sense of humour and general informativeness and your channel truly stands out. I know you do what you do mostly for you, but I (and judging from pretty much every other comment on every video, your followers) greatly appreciate what you’re doing. On a more personal note, I often find myself feeling miserable in my daily grind and moaning and complaining about our long winters as I lock myself up and hibernate. I’m tired of living here and crave a change, but my circumstances don’t allow for a big change. But videos like yours show, not only what beautiful places we have right in our backyard, but also how much a positive and opportunistic attitude can help us craft wonderful experiences from anything. Thanks for reminding me of that, Slim. 🙂👍

Great scenery and another well made video! I recently redid a Chevy Express cargo van into my new "tin tent" and I'm loving it. Took it out last month to a park and I was only one there, temps got down to 20° F. Stayed warm by hiking during the day and a little space heater at night. Can't wait to do it again...I was inspired by your videos...Thanks!!!!

O.K. you little genius. What a pellet stove. You have electric, fan, your stuff is being recharged, your warm in your A Frame, you can cook even bake on it, what a great little creation. You better be careful or you will find yourself making stoves for millions. How genius. We also have camped out in the wilderness whenever we could. I wish we would've had that stove. That miniature dinosaur you saw crawling out of the freezing ice, displays the resilience of life forms. We also enjoy the beauty of snowflakes, in the individual viewing. The peace, quiet, smells, and food cooked out in the open always tastes better than anything you cook on the inside. We roared with laughter when we saw you waving to the trucks....We love your creations, your sensitivity to nature, your enjoyment of the miracle of life itself....Thank you so much for sharing your birds eye view of the beauty of life. Nice one, SP! Thanks for trying to explain the peacefulness of solo camping. Some people will never understand. I think of campgrounds and camper gatherings as being akin to tenements with very thin walls, and neighbors from whom I cannot escape. Not for me! Give me the quiet of remote, solo camping.

Having watched so many van or full time RV videos - I highly recommend all those seeking to live full time in their RV watch your videos. They are unique in showing what is really important in outdoor living. You have a unique way of demonstrating techniques even when things don't go as planned . Your love of the outdoors is what I as a viewer see not a desperate cry out for a free campsite that seem to be the focus of too many other You Tubers in this genre . Keep up the good work
