Winter Car Camping Solo - Lost History Found!!!
Thanks for joining me on another Jeep Overland Car Camping adventure. On this adventure I’m following in the tracks of an old freight wagon road established in the later 1800s. Along the way I show you all the site of a moonshine still that was raided and destroyed by the local sheriffs during prohibition. Of course I also show you some of the amazing Oregon High Desert landscape, the jeep trails I explore and other points of interest I discover along the way. Join me to set up camp on the edge of an ancient lake, have a few camp cooking meals, and just enjoy being out in some o Oregon’s most remote back country.
Hope you enjoy joining me for more of my overland, car camping, history hunting, and exploring in some of my other videos as well. Above all, I hope you find some adventures of your own!
Cheers,
Casey

For the city folks....gridlock in the Oregon high desert.... gridlock I'd Casey parking in the middle of a barely discernable two track, snow on the ground, sagebrush everywhere. Not even a reflection off a windshield. Sepia and b&w photos, lifetime of knowledge bumping around with his Grandad, Casey does his research, isn't afraid to get out of his rig, and explore on foot. Campfire dinner, and the history keeps on coming. No noise, but the whispering wind.....aaah! Started watching when his old jeep caught on fire, only disappointment was not enough videos. Realizing he has another life, travels with Casey are priceless. This and other channels are what inspire this 78 y/o guy to get off my backside and do my traveling. No particular place to go, the rest of my life to get there. 4.8.23 even went to Public Land Steward cleanups. of Bend, Ore, picked up Trask with 150 or so other people. (See Casey Ladelle channel.) Oregon has man's, beaches, forests and deserts. Great history. I treasure each day I have left to travel and explore. Snowcapped in 8 deg. last month down by Cabin Lake. Went by Ft Rock (snow filled bowl of Cuff ring) Wow.stopped at Derrick Cave after Lolo and Casey's hunt video there. WOW what a privilege to still be able to still do this.....❤.

I love these trip videos. To be honest, I'm not much of a 'gear guy' and I really dont care about the latest and greatest gear making the rounds, but man, when these videos come out, there is none better! Truly. I think I've watched every one...🤔 I'm about as far as you can drive from Oregon, but the passion and excitement in these videos inspires me. It's top shelf stuff. 👍🏻

Casey, something that you should think about is an at home freeze dryer. I have a couple of friends that are getting into it. You can freeze dry prepared meals, fruit and vegetables. Just about anything can be freeze dried. Freeze dried vacuum packed will keep for decades. And you can't beat the flavor.

I often think about how life was like back then in Oregon’s central high desert for pioneers. A simple life but not an easy one by any means. I love this era and country. I need to take a trip down there one of these weekends, it’s been too long. Glad to see you posting again Casey, the knowledge on the history you bring to these videos makes these a great watch. Casey, have you ever investigated sites mentioned in any of the volumes of Gale Ontko's "Thunder Over The Ochoco" book series? I'm currently reading Volume II, "Distant Thunder" and was shocked to learn about the massacre of pioneers who in 1845, strayed away from the main body to follow Meek and his cutoff trail to the Willamette Valley, and encountered Shoshoni warriors on the western side of Powell Butte. Having lived for a time in your hometown, I was also shocked to learn in Volume I, "The Gathering Storm" how the early fur trappers found beavers the size of large sheep on the Crooked River and Ochoco Creek -! BTW - did you ever do a trip to Alice Pratt's homestead? Hope I didn't miss it.....

Thank you so much , I've been waiting ( or looking , constantly ) for what seems like forever to see one of your videos ( full videos ) in your last video you said you can't make enough money to do this full time , but I think you could , I watch Jason , primal outdoors , Epic family road trip , the story till now , a lot of bushcraft , overlanding , homesteading , survival , and a little bit of preping . Some of all the most popular ones , and You , I always look for you too . It would be really nice to see your videos on a weakly basis , that would make my routine complete . I love what you do , a little bit of History , a little bit of overlanding , a little bit of survival , a little bit bushcraft , a little bit of prep , and some cool quirky stuff . I really wish you did this full time . Right now you are like my # 4 or 5 all time favorite , and I'm sure a lot of other people feel similar. So God Bless you , and thank you once again .
