yes we do, don't take canopy or awning for short weekends but we are away from Christmas Eve until New years day and will be putting the awning up for that long stay. we love being in the caravan when its cold, it's so lovely to see the landscape changing with the seasons
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi I completely understand your point of view. I hope you have a lovely Caravan Christmas. Thanks P&J👍🙂

I do keep going but less frequently and not as far. Limited for choice of sites in central Scotland too that are open all year. Don't use an awning or canopy at any time of year. Next booked trip is 10 days at Edinburgh CAMC site from boxing day ... only 20 miles away but far enough if the weather is rough.

A massive yes from us. we did Shetland in Feb 2023 for the fire festival. Switzerland and Germany in the Alps in spring. Just back from Norway and Sweden four weeks in the Arctic circle and higher. wet and windy in the UK, fine by me.

Hi there Phil & Juliet, We’ve just returned from our November trip and although not booked we’re planning on an early December trip, weather permitting. Otherwise that’s it until Feb. No awning just walking boots 😁, that’s us. All the best, Rob & Gail 😀
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Rob n Gail. I know you will get out and have some wonderful walks. We look forward to the videos as always. P&J👍🙂

If you’re a fan of the outdoors why not? If you’re a fair weather traveller then fine- hibernate. Our caravan site is now in winter mode and we welcome winter travellers here in the North East of Scotland. You must come prepared though, but snow and Northern lights can be stunning!

Hi JH. I feel for us its a time to spend with other friends and enjoy other things. We find it makes the new caravanning season more special and reminds us what we are missing. Thanks P&J👍🙂

Hi Phil and Juliet. We love to winter caravan but do not take the awning. It does restrict us for space but saves having the arduous process of drying it out when we get home.
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Terry. I don't blame you not taking your awning. It can be difficult drying it out once home. Enjoy your winter caravanning. Thanks Phil👍🙂

All year for us caravan and motorhome. We used to put the full awning up at Christmas and New Year. With the Motorhome we have the canopy if we need it but have only used it 4 times in 8 years.
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi David. I expect nothing less. Desmond is perfectly placed to be enjoyed all year round we are not. Enjoy and take care. P&J👍🙂

Love winter Caravanning and we are in Scotland. Been away last week then having a week at start of December then going away again 2nd January It seems a shame not to enjoy sitting in a lovely toast van

Hi Bob. The issue for us is Juliets back and my knackered knee. They tend to be worse in the Winter. Thanks Phil & Juliet👍🙂

Hi Phil & Juliet, we caravan all year round, but didn't use the awning in winter, in fact we didn't use the awning a lot in summer, so have now gone for a canopy just for some sun shade. Hope you both have a great time over winter and hope to see you out there next year. ATB Mark & Coral
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Mark & Coral. We hope you have a great time during the winter. I will be out on my own in March😉 Hope to see you out there too. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Morning all. We do try and go away in the winter but wont be this year due to my surgery the end of November. But to be honest the novelty of winter caravanning is wearing off. Made much more difficult with a big dog and 7 year old boy. If the weather is miserable we dont want to be stuck in the van as i wouldn't take the awning anymore in winter. Take care all. 👍
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Gareth. I hope your operation goes well. Yes it can wain a little especially with young kids. Yes stuck inside is not fun. Thanks P&J👍🙂

Hello Juliet and Phil, last year we had are last trip out mid November, we were planning on going to the Lake District for new year, but then thought what if it snowed, the lady on the site said no problem there is always some one with a four wheel drive to get you to the main road witch is all well and good but, there is no way we could get the caravan back into the store age yard if it had snowed back home, and there is no chance of storing it anywhere else 👍.
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi BB. I can understand fully. We had to be towed off in the North Lakes 2 years ago. This made it even more difficult to tow once on the road as the tyres were badly messed up. Sometimes it can be more trouble than its worth. Thanks P&J👍🙂

Hi Phil and Juliet, thanks for your interesting video. We tend to winter caravan just staying around four days mainly in Snowdonia, specifically for hiking and landscape photography. I'm not so keen on November getaways, but December, January and February can be spectacular in Snowdonia with snow on the high peaks. The Morris Leisure sites at Llanberis and Betws are well set up for the winter season. I think using the available daylight with early starts to the hike is key because of the short daylight hours.

Hi. What a great use for a caravan in winter. Love the idea of landscape photography. North Wales is beautiful at anytime as far I am concerned. My family are from N Wales. We are in Lancashire which also has some lovely places to see and visit but we get more than our share of rain which tends to put us off. My knee causes me more pain in winter. I do hope you have a lovely time away. Many Thanks Phil & Juliet. 👍🙂

No, once the clocks change our van is parked on the drive. We like to walk and it's not so much fun when it's muddy and wet.

Hi Glen. I sit here typing whilst it is raining and blowing a gale. So the thought of being in the Caravan fills me with dread. Thanks Phil👍🙂

Morning. We live in the Northwest to Near Chester. We're going away on Wednesday for few days that will be it till end January. We're lucky our caravan is on the drive so can check on it. No don't put awning up in winter but i do miss it. Carn't kick Keith out. 😂 . Xx
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Alison & Keith. Hope you have a great time out. Yes we have to spend time at the storage yard but I usually take my camera as there is always a video idea around. Thanks P&J👍🙂

I didn’t last year, but have got one booked end of November and away for New Year. Don’t put my awning up for weekends, just longer trips. This is only my 2nd year of owning my caravan.
@lostweekendscaravan7 ай бұрын
Hi Jo. I hope you have a wonderful time. Yes not a good idea to use the awning in winter due to the high winds we now get. Thanks for commenting. Phil & Juliet👍🙂

North! You don't live 'up north', you live in the south! We live in the Scottish Highlands, north of Inverness and we caravan in the winter. Le Shuttle is booked for the beginning of December and we will be heading south for Christmas in the sunshine. It takes us 3 days to get to Folkestone then we'll drive south through France, Spain and Portugal. If the weather is really bad en route we stop until it improves, then move on. We have the cover for our Aquaroll, plenty of gas and will be using EHUs at sites. A warm cosy caravan is a joy when the weather is frosty outside. Good luck with the wedding.

Hi. Middle England more like. Wow that's a great journey you will be undertaking. Enjoy every minute. We are doing something similar to that next year. The wedding was lovely it was at Gretna such a lovely place. Enjoy your winter sunshine. many Thanks Phil & Juliet 👍🙂

Hi both, really enjoy your Vlogs. Keep meaning to put a few up myself but cant find the time. We try and get a trip out in November and quite often join our friends for a January trip. Living in Pembrokeshire SW Wales with the weather changing by the our, we will venture to the Cotswolds or even just as far as mid Wales (Brecon) for our trips. Look forward to your next Vlog. All the best Jason & Marie.
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Jason & Marie. Thanks for the comment. Sounds like you love your winter trips. We have put ours in storage till March (unless a Filming opportunity arises in the New Year). We have a few big trips planned in 2024, so we need to keep an eye on our spending. Setting up a YT channel takes a lot of your personal time and also takes time to establish. Sometimes the rewards are not worth the hard effort you put in. Plenty more videos to come. Thanks Phil & Juliet🙂👍

Hi, we put ours to bed drained down mid October,. The weather has been awful . Pitch fees are expensive enough so, Cover on, wait till Feb service ready for spring.

We normally stop in November and restart in March just before going to Spain for 80 days, in between we have short city breaks using deals from premium inn/ or pubs B&B. The advantages of being retired 😂

I am too NW based and a bit 'nesh' so yes once the clocks change the caravan gets permanently stored. There's a few trips planned over the Winter and early next year but they will all be chez Premier Inn or European equivalents....👌
