I see this video is over a year old so you have probably got more info on the plow. I was the design engineer on that plow when it was introduced in 1987. I believe the 9 bottom is still available new. Gave me a few goose bumps during your walk around.

That's pretty cool....I was not able to use it this year as the weather didnt permit. I'd love to know more about it, as I have used this style of plow before.

I can imagine the long Canadian winters, as ours is not as cold as yours nor as long in PA., USA. but of the seasons, I'd take summer anytime. It seems every place you live, even a tropical paradise has its draw backs. Thanks for the video Tyson, I always love seeing the large equipment and I did catch a glimpse of Suki the dog.

I guess you in Alberta like me never had good fall at all it been to wet for most of the fields hope it feazes and finishes up then we have switched to tracks thinking it may help us with not getting stuck but the combines had and other an idea then we did they needed to be pulled out was will my great grandparents said only one other time they heard of this bad the horses and wagons were stuck have to in late 1890 both are in there 100's now we just found the old barn and a house last year clearing trees off of the far quarts we drop the back end of the truck into the well. was hand dig to all we know about it was in the winter the farm was burned

@Northern_Farmer5 жыл бұрын
What kind of problems did you have?
@farmertan_93755 жыл бұрын
We had a 3600 7 bottom. It was a good plow. We then bought a 3710 9 bottom. We could not stop the hitch and frame from cracking. We actually pulled the hitch comepletely of twice. The 3600 also left the field much smoother than the 3710. Got rid of it after just one year and bought a kverland 10 bottom and have never looked back
@farmertan_93755 жыл бұрын
I should add we like to plow between 800-1000 acres each year
@robertpayne27174 жыл бұрын
Here in Arkansas USA flat bottom breaking ploughs are not very popular any more, I always enjoyed plowing
@MatthewHoag775 жыл бұрын
If I recall the old marketing materials I saw for the 3710, some had the option to hydraulically change the width of the furrows. The one you bought does not look like it was built that way. Either way, it will definitely turn some dirt.
@RJ1999x5 жыл бұрын
Was actually a horrible plow. I went from owning Whites to 2 different John Deere plows of that model, look well built but we're horrible to keep moving without failing. Went back to whites but we hardly plow anymore

Hey you can keep that crap up their all winter lol... I'm at 55°F right now in east central Illinois... Nice plow... Almost makes 2 of your other plows... Does it have 3 different hydraulic hookups? Like drop the nose in Then the center and then the tail end? I'm not sure how the bigger plows work to be honest... Its been since the 80's that this land has even been rolled over with a plow here...
@Northern_Farmer5 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly how it works....3 hook ups.. but I thought the would work in sequence.. seems you have to work all 3 ?

What's your thoughts on the results of different tillage types for redoing the hay ground, i.e. Plow vs Harrow/Chisel vs No-till/w chem burn? Just curious if you have experimented in the past and what kind of results each had that led you to using the plow for tillage.
@Northern_Farmer5 жыл бұрын
Depends on the type of ground to...but I have used heavy discs chisel plows and plows....plows still make the ground the easiest to get to a seed bed the quickest

Northern Farmer -- I enjoy your vids. I have a question though. Do you brush the plow shares down with used oil or grease when you put them in storage for the winter? Dad always did that on our Iowa Farm when I was a boy back in the 60's and 70's, and in fact he delegated that job to me. LOL. We just used an old straw broom and a five gallon bucket of used oil and brushed the shares down with that oil. It kept them from rusting over the winters.
