EN: We created a longer lesson learned on how winter tires can fail in winter, especially in offroad and mud. This is because it is ok to do offroad in winter with winter tires, but you need to be careful and avoid mud as much as possible. As the winter temperatures increase, it is paramount that you are checking the weather temperatures when offroading in sunny winter days. Let us know your thoughts about the video. Thank you
Merci

Why do you think the winter tires failed and how do you think the all-season would have fared? Also comment your own experiences when winter tires failed for you!

First of all, nice video * . Now, to the point: No tire works in mud, except for Mud tires. Even the best All-Terrain tires slide way too often in mud, as their self-cleaning capability is weak. What we see here is amateurs: Some mediocre driving, some bad moves, instructions without PMRs, winter tires taken off-road (expect some punctures...), weak recovery equipment. People fooling around near a recovery is dangerous and silly, people get seriously injured every year because of this! * If your point was to set a bad example - what NOT to do, it's pretty good.

@@thepilotxproject4035 not really, mud can be found in any scenario.... its starts raining, you have mud... so what do you do, replace with mud tires in the field? ...as for the PMRs, the car have radios and for that location it was not life and death, so voice did cover. Also some drivers are noobs as per the SUVs they are driving and not 4x4 monsters, so yes its expected that they might slide. The recovery is also very easy from the risk perspective and you can't force people to listen if they relay don't want to. True its not a perfect one and has some risk, but they know about it and take their own risk... same as driving on roads.... risk everywhere.

@@DaciaDusterTrails My point exactly Sir. Noobs pulling dangerous manoeuvres around spectators, spinning in mud with open windows, destroying the dirt road with bad tire choices...

Nice video! I have 20 years experience in offroad environment and i would like to give my opinion: in slippery conditions, weight is your enemy, that's why even with mud tires the heavier offroads struggles on the hill. One pro-tip: keep on board a good air compressor, and reduce the pressure of your tires in difficult conditions. How much to air down depend on tires/rims/weight combinations, however, for the pajero i suggest about 1 bar, for the patrol 0.8-0.9 bar, for the duster, i don't know the tire size, but probably will be safe to start from 1.0-1.2 bar to avoid damaging the rims. The bigger the tires, the lower you can go. I have a pajero with 33x12.50r15 mud tires, and when offroad i air down to 0.6bar with no troubles, and the traction i get is awesome (mine is a 2.8 tdi with super select transmission, so i have also a rear diff locked by factory which helps a lot)

@@DaciaDusterTrails unfortunately I've seen it in other places, some ATV drivers have no care over the terrain. In this case, the road is already bad but it's getting even worse. I wonder is my stock Duster would be able to cross that area even in dry weather.
@nolob
@nolob 3 жыл бұрын
@@DaciaDusterTrails also the trenches may be the result of erosion due to heavy rain but the first cause is that the protective stratum on top is split apart by vehicles and that will make way for water to carry the loose gravel and sand underneath.

Hm pullin byt to tow ball that is VERY VERY dangerous. Did the blue duster not have special recovery points? Is the factory tow hook too weak ? Askin for my self because i too have duster :P
@DaciaDusterTrails
@DaciaDusterTrails 3 жыл бұрын
They are just lazy and the tow ball is not a ball and it is a full iron cast for the entire hook. But yes you should use proper maneuvers and not the tow hooks, on dusters it will bend towards the sides.

not exactly, it failed because of the road incline in one spot. If you drive on 95% of the road, fail in one spot and can go around that place... then you can't claim you must need MTs... also Ats did well there
