Great vid -the local dealer advice. My local Michelin dealer recommended all seasons when I see lots of snow and ice on hills. Also scratched all my wheels with shoddy equipment.

@@lennygarrison6836 On snow yes, but probably not on ice. My AWD car with CC2 seems better on ice than my wifes FWD car with studded wintertyres.

Great video but I think it causes confusion between the different terms used for tyres in different parts of the world. In the UK, we have a summer tyre, which seems to be called an all season tyre in the US, however some in the US call these 3 season tyres. We have an all season tyre which is designed to work all year round, but these seem to be called all weather tyres in the US. Then we have winter tyres, which are also called winter tyres in the US.

Been in the tire business for 3.5 years now. Michelin has set a new standard with CC2! I have tested those tires at Michelin's 4x4 School in Vermont. I am very impressed by their capabilities! Meghan!!! What’s up girl! I was a Tire Shop Supervisor at Costco for 10 years, from 2007 to 2017! I received my TIA certification in 2016. I’ve done training in Greenville, SC at Michelin Laurens Proving Grounds! I loved working at the Costco Tire Shop!

The answer is If you live in an area with severe winter conditions in winter then you need and want both sets of tires. Get 2nd set of rims and rotate winter tires on and off ant the beginning and end of winter seasons. Run the all season/all weather if they have the 3 peaks mountain symbol for spring summer and fall. You will always be protected from inclement weather with this approach. If you live in a warmer climate in winter 50-70 degrees temperatures and only rarely or occasionally drive to winter conditions then run the all weather tires year round and carry chains or an auto sock just in case it gets extreme weather. 👍✅

All season tires are the most optimal. It isn't really a question. The most optimal thing is to go for all season tires, but you have to get really good ones. Do not skimp on them, because you won't get the benefit of similar performance to winter tires. Season tires are for extreme regions where driving conditions gets really difficult. For mild climates, you should always go with all season.

I trust the Michelin tyre because of the components, no problems to set or make the wheel alignment, it's different from the other brands.

No question in my mind regarding 4 winter tires. We have the X-Ice SNOW SUV on our Tahoe. My I suggest you stop referring to All Season and always say All Weather. Even though you explain the 3 peak Mountain Snow Flake people simple hear all season and tune out. BTW, I've had 4 winter tires every winter since 1967. Yes I'm that old! Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Agree, they’re making the All-season vs. All-weather confusion worse. People hear this and think every all-season is an all-weather tire and then end up driving garbage tires in winter conditions and endanger everyone.

I've had many Tyre makes and models and can Honestly say Michelin hands down make the best all round tyre. Currently driving on CC+ on a 340HP M140i and they are so good in cold and greasy UK winter conditions, I no longer just sit spinning at a junction instead the car just grips and goes.

So I'm looking at a set of cc2 for my m240i xdrive . But I was wondering how they perform in UK winter conditions i.e wet and dry , what's the noise levels like ? I'd be getting 245/35/19 for front and 255/35/19 for rear the same size as my stock PS 4's . As it's very good in the snow it makes sense but need reassurance on those sizes on a sports car with that power . As yours is a m140i it's not far off the same . You definitely recommend then ?

@@vivabielsamot5828 They are very good tyres but I only use them from October to March UK, outside of this I use (Goodyear Supperports) on separate wheels. I wouldn't recommend CC2'S as your only tyre on a performance car unless you drive easy when it gets warm out. A performance summer tyre beats them in every way past 10-15c ambient temperature. They are quiet and comfy compared to my Goodyear's. Take a look at Bridgestone and Continental too as they have some new All seasons out which might better the Michelin's. Cheers

That's an extremely bad idea....you'll end up with dramatically and unpredictable front/rear balance and handling issues with such different tires at each end of your vehicle. Virtually all tire manufacturers state that winter tires should only be used in sets of four. Summer tires on the front steering wheels will have you understeering at every corner in winter driviing conditions. Do do it! (Fellow Iowa driver)

I got swayed into buying the Cross Climate 2s because our old all seasons work fine for all seasons where I live but all the reviews indicated these worked better at everything and I needed a replacement, so I "upgraded" to these. What I didn't count on was the hit to the gas mileage. OMG, now I have the poor mileage of a winter tire all year round and don't have the traction of good winter tires. All the reviews just skip that fact. I've lost over 10%. You can tell how much rolling resistance they have because as you run them down the highway, they heat up so much you can watch on the dash as the pressure increases by 3 PSI. Now I just paid $1,000 for the tires and am going to pay another $1000 in gas over the 40,000 miles of their lifetime. Oh, yay. They do handle decently, but just imagine if everyone increased their fuel consumption by 10%.

All season tires and all weather tires are not the same thing. An all weather tire is a hybrid between an all season tire and a winter tire. It has the mountain snowflake symbol on it but an all season tire does not.

Hm, that all season tyre probably won't handle 230 kph very well....nor will it stop in the wet like my Bridgestone Blizzaks. Changing is a chore but there are very good reasons.

Michelin winter tires are junk. I had the Michelin x ice winter tires on one of my vehicles a few years back and I could not stop for stop signs or red lights no matter how slow I drove. They went right back to the dealer and they installed Blizzak winters on and I never had another issue again. Ever since then I run nothing but Blazzak winter tires. I also let other people that are thinking of putting Michelin winter tires on that they will regret it. Blizzaks all the way.

Usually any new tire needs to be broken in. All tires are made in a mold that has some form of release agent to help them loosen for mold removal. Maybe Blizzak treats the tires to another step that removes it. However, most tests show that the XICE is a great tire. I think your specific tires needed to be broken in.
