Hate to tell you but the wood stove is also consuming its oxygen from your living space. That is why you had that bad smoke backdraft a few videos back as well. Every bit of heat and smoke that goes up the chimney has to be replaced by air leaking in wherever it can. On that video it was coming in the roof vent due to the wind direction, but it basically creates a very slight negative pressure in the space and will find any leak possible to replenish no matter where. The real solution is to put an external combustion air supply duct on the wood stove. You would not believe it but the efficiency of the stove is easily doubled and no more cold drafts are created. Love the channel and hope to cross paths someday....

The expensive wood stoves have that feature that you’re talking about. He paid like $5000 for his woodstove I can’t remember the brand but I am 80% sure it’s sucking air from below the truck from the outside not the cabin

Yes, I don't think the wood stove would burn like it does without an external air supply.

Also, the chimney should be higher than the spine of the roof! Its a general rule here, that way, draft wont "push" smoke back into the living space. There was this guy that had a really short chimney, the whole house was smoked untill he got it long enough to pass the highest point of the roof. Ridge or spine or whatever you call the highest line of the roof! Chimney should be longer, so no draft blows sm9ke back

Hey Tim, I ran across your channel by mistake a few months ago. I have to say this is some of the best content I have seen on a channel like yours. The filming you do with multiple cameras and the drone is amazing. I'm definitely a new fan and I'm still working on watching your previous videos. I know a lot of it is done in Alaska but the scenery is incredible. I was in Anchorage back in 97 for a couple months visiting my son. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He still lives up there and was living with his mom my ex until he went out in his own. He is by himself now at 29 and he's married and has 3 boys of his own. Anyway take care and I'm looking forward to the next video.

Probably 2 things personal fortitude. But also his Dad encouraging him to be self reliant & teaching him hands on/off with his 1st vehicle. The Samari, which I still want one "some day" 🤣. I just have so many cars/trucks/Bikes/aircraft etc now that it's already to hard to justify "more" for me personally. So what I buy is something I really REALLY Want. Samari are neat, but tbh I don't offroad much. Tho after our next trip very soon NW Passage we're driving the Pan-American hwy. My mother's last job was as a lobbyist for BP/Arco, so while in Prudhoe/Deadhorse we'll get to see one platform. Set up through her. - sorry off track. If Timmy reads comments 🤷‍♂️ idk. I'd say most likely stems from Dad teaching that skillset. But some of it is also a personal stance too. I didn't get to much encouragement growing up. Tho my mother white was very Pro Native Rights. Even help draft ANCSA - She wasn't personally helpful. It is what it is. So anything I've done, graduate from CAL Multi degrees in science, or flying now multiple Rated aircraft. To all my cars, to dual citizenship. I did by my fortitude of being told "you CAN'T do that" oh yeah ? Watch me! Lol - I only wish I had parents that were proud of my accomplishments. My bfs parents are, so its something lol

Oh. ive heard that name before. yea i know its upsetting when an animal you are responsible for dies in your care. of all the deaths in that race, that one strikes me as particularly kinda sad. because yea she seems nice. the issue with racing isnt that the people are so bad. even the guys who do some pretty awful stuff in racing are generally pretty cool and fun to be around and hospitable and charismatic. but racing is bad. Mushers like her kinda bum me out the most because they just lean into it instead of speaking out. It makes it that much more tragic. I wish she would help create a less competitive world of sled dogs. I emailed the alaska state rep who was proposing funding the next iditarod and it would mean more coming from people like her as opposed to a disgruntled handler. TRAGIC!

I remember seeing the Iditarod start back around 1965-1966. My father was stationed at Elmendorf AFB. We moved to Anchorage 6 months after the 1964 earthquake when I was just a kid in Elementary school. I remember some of the damage around Turnagain sub division, and 4th and C street . Haven't been back to Anchorage since then, but have been on a few Alaskan Cruises up to Juneau, Skagway, and Haines. Glad I ran into your channel. Thanks for the video.

I'm always amazed by the resilience and innovation it takes to work or live here. Anything that you have, vehicle, stove, generator, is liable to fail in the temperatures, the roads are slippery or closed, and the penalties for any failures are severe, including death. Tim has backup after backup systems. And you can be miles away from professional help. Of course people will help and look out for each other.

I think your gut reaction was right. I worked in dog sled racing at the winning level as a live in helper for three years and travelled all across the northern us and canada racing. some might like it, its all they know. there is no way to know what an animal thinks or feels, we can only guess. be cautious of anyone telling you otherwise. i know that many dont make the cut or even finish the race. i know that some seem to like it more than others lol. I know there are alot of way to love something, some of them maybe not so good. There are infact mushers with zero interest in racing, and even some of the people at races arent really competitive., its just kind of fun and social and can even be good for the dogs maybe. but its still a race. we are still racing. what does being a competitive animal racer MEAN? what do you have to DO to be that? it gets ugly bro. im telling you. no rule changes or regulations can get around it. the problem is racing.

thats really interesting actually. I worked in dog sled racing and its pretty freaking bad. The iditarod doesnt have any money, so the politicians want to pass a bill to give it 1.4 million dollars of funding. I emailed the state representative who commented on it and proposed the bill and he said "Although the economics of the Iditarod have been damaged, my sense is that it is wildly popular in Alaska." You lived there and didnt even know about it? I think thats interesting. Im not surprised though.

I worked in dog sled racing. Its a pretty bad spectator sport actually. thats the ceremonial start. not even the actual start to the race. its just for fun and appearances. you basically just watch them pull up the dogs to the starting line and leave. its loud and the dogs are barking and its cool to look at sled dogs. shorter races like are a circle and you can wait around to see them comeback. but most of it is away from spectators. there are races where everyone leaves at once. its mess. its bad. there is a good reason thats not common. i dont have much good to say about any of it though, especially at the competitive level.

I worked in dog sled racing. Florida Banned Greyhound racing in 2021, I think thats a good thing. Your comment reminds me of this video i saw by a married couple doing travel vlogs called "Tim and Fin" They went on a sled dog ride and it bummed her out and made her cry. there is a dark reality underpinning the North American Sled dog industry, it mostly stems from racing. The iditarod is the poster child of all thats wrong with dog sled racing for good reason. Going to alaska is cool af though. The alaska highway in winter is beautiful. They want tourism, im just here telling you the reality of sled dog tourism. theres other cool stuff up there though.

Fault 01 (F01) - No Start Remember, if correctly installed, your heater should have an independent fuel standpipe in your tank which is cut short of the bottom of the tank, if you are low on fuel this could be the cause. Blockages in the fuel line and/or burner are also common causes.

Yes, and mine used to have a valve on it as well. If it was turned off, the fan would keep trying to come on.

I hope he reads your comment. He did say he had enough fuel. So it just might be the bloackages like you said.

this was copied from a google search on the F01 code but still good advice. fuel blockage or air in line of some sort.

I feel so bad that your heater is on the fritz! Lucky you have the trusty wood stove! I really love those sled dogs. They're all so beautiful. I don't think I could ever get used to cold weather. I guess if you've lived in it for years it doesn't bother you. I know you love it though! Great video Timmy. Sending you good vibes and good luck with getting the heater repaired! ❤

Florida banned greyhound racing in 2021. I was working at the winning level in dog sled racing at the time and agreed with that decision. Dog sled racing is just as bad or worse than greyhound racing.
