Hi Peter welcome to the channel and thanks very much for tuning in and commenting, much appreciated 🙏 My first question would be what sort of ground are you planning on fishing and what’s your budget? Assuming that you’re fishing a bit of everything and don’t want to break the bank initially before you know you’re keen. My personal ‘all round’ suggestion that will serve you well for the north east out be something like a Century Tip Tornado (mk 2 Bronze whipping) or a Century Kompressor S (green whipping). Reel wise you can’t got wrong with a penn spinfisher/battle/clash 6000/7000 size and 50-60lb braid. Hopefully that helps as a starter👍

Sturdy, lightweight and will accommodate all of the various gadgets that you can buy for them. I’ve had mine for years and years and it’s still going strong.
