Not only hold the magnets. It makes it possible to replace the magnets changing the „detent“ of then knife. At least with the B2 you got a set of stronger magnets which I fitted. Quite a bit of work. Watch the video from Brian.

This is pretty much spot on. The magnet visible for the "detent" is actually glued to a wider, flat, magnet that is too wide to fit through the hole in the carbon fiber. With the B2 it came with a weaker detent magnet installed and to make it stronger you pop out the carbon fiber panel, remove the old small magnet from larger flat magnet, glue the stronger small magnet to the larger one, set it back in the milled out pocket in the interior side of the carbon, and snap the whole assemblage back into the frame. Brian also mentions that there are suppliers to order even stronger versions of some of the various magnets in sizes that will fit if you want to customize further than the options he provided with the B2. Similarly, the portion of the lock magnet you can see in the handle is in a pocket milled into the CF with that hole milled all the way through. Not sure the purpose of the through milling there, I assume the magnet wouldn't be affected if it were just in a pocket on the other side of the CF without the hole. *shrug*

Winterblade Factor XL coming 'soon'. Product cycles is marketing 101. He seems to be following the same pattern I have seen with other high end knives. I believe dude has knocked it out of the park with this one. I hope he makes a ton of money, takes a short vaca to cleanse his mind and then gets back to work on more cool new stuff. I want it! I can not afford it.

Well, it’s a well documented thing in the community, it’s definitely not just a “me” thing. Some aren’t bothered by it, but they still notice it. Some, like me, don’t like it at all.

Mostly good news then… when the preorder opens for the B3, Bryan says that he will have a few B2s available ready to ship. So you’ll be able to get 2 out of the 3

True, and yeah, my 13 pro max also has the MagSafe, but since I never use it, I never remember lol. They charge way too slowly that way.

Reading the actual law shows that California is truly ridiculous. They categorize almost any knife as a switchblade because it says: “a blade over 2” and which can be released automatically by a flick of a button, pressure on the handle, flip of the wrist or other mechanical device, or is released by the weight of the blade or by any type of mechanism whatsoever. “. Well, by their definition, any knife with a weak detent that you could flick your wrist and pop the blade out accidentally would be a “switchblade”. California is run by clowns.

A quick hit of compressed air should be all you’d need on any knife. And the Factor isnt any more susceptible to that than any other folder. Now, if you worked around metal dust, that would be an issue and that’s unique to the Winterblade magnetic knives.

Not at all. In your theoretical scenario, it may sound like that makes sense, but I’ve been carrying my original for about a year and my second one for about 4 or 5 months and neither have had any such issues. And I carry them a lot. And as you can see on the blade in the video, I use mine as well

Well… even if you block the lock from moving, the blade will still flip open and closed, so I think so, yeah. Maybe LeftyEDC can chime in because I know he’s played with Factors as well.

Yea i have some videos on the Factor. It works very well. U just cant block the lock or it wont lock up. I got used to it quickly and its an amazing knife lefty

Totally personal choice. I like having the flipper bar because that’s one of the things that makes the Factor unique and I enjoy using it, but I also understand the folks that want to block it.

Bryan always tries to have extras in stock for each generation. So if he is planning to get say 300 in, the preorder may be limited to 275 so that he has 25 on hand upon delivery to sell live. If you message him on Instagram and ask about being able to buy one, I’m sure he will let you know quickly.

It’s there, but it is more subtle. I think the all titanium construction changes the harmonics

Adding Damasteel would have been a $200-$300 per knife upgrade. A lot of people would have had an issue with that
