this video is awesome! I feel like you red my mind! I just did my first container of perennials- I mixed catmint, purple heuchera, and dianthus- I'm in a zone 6. Fingers crossed! Thank you for all of your informative videos!

, I am going to try to overwinter serval things this year. Honeysuckles, hydrangea, and pug butterfly bush. Just potting them up in a zone 5-6 🙏😬... late starts but thanks for your suggestions !

Firts year in portland here, its gonna be our second winter and we are moving just now to a new apartment second floor with a nice balcony and I am just looking for easy care winter plants for balconys. thanks

Awesome! Though I'm laughing at the thought of 25F (-4C) being cold! We're typically at a -25 C here in the winter (-13F) though it gets colder...surprising that Ottawa is also a 5a zone.

Dom Dee , I am in Toronto and I’m in zone 6 but in the US it’s classified as zone lower, so would be a 5 for me.

Nice tips! I've got a pair of boxwoods that summer on my patio and winter healed in to my veggie garden. Always wondered if they'd survive on the patio all winter (zone 5). They are in kinda smallish plastic pots up in metal urns, so I worry that they'll freeze. Then again, the soil freezes when they're in the ground, too, so what's the difference? Maybe I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

You would trim according to the instructions for each type of hydrangea, most say to not prune until spring. Then care for them the same way, and they would need to be two zones hardier than your planting area, and even then there is no promise. Sudden temperature drops, extreme amounts of rain followed by very cold weather...it is hard to winter a plant outdoors in a container.

That's a tough question, best to this question at your local garden center. Is there a Calloway's Nursery near you? They have an awesome staff and received quite a few of our plants recently.

I have a little gem magnolia in a pot I live in NJ and I’m so worried my little tree, I can keep this in the garage with NO light at all?

I’m wondering the same about my pomegranate tree. I also live in NJ. I feel like we can possibly put it in our garages because the trees need light for photosynthesis but if they are dormant or even without any leaves, I doubt they need much light. Really not sure tho!
