Thanks for sharing all the cool things you have been doing. The old kits are fun to see all the improvements DAC has implemented since that kit was made. Regarding the Events and the “I have no respect for others” people, All I have to say is ...🙄... people can just not participate and take their selfish laziness with them!...🙄. Your kids are awesome and love to hear updates on their progress through life. Keep up the great work you are doing on your channel! You are an inspiration to others. 🐡🐠🐟😊

Hi Katie x 🪸 it sounds like you had a wonderful time and there was a great atmosphere. It's wonderful you had time with your mum. I so miss mine. I'd of lived sharing a hobbi with her. She was a knitter and registered blind. She would have an amazing magnifier on a pair of glasses and I still don't get how she knew if she had gone wrong. I love seeing older kits and the old set up. I'm hoping to see it complete. I love hearing about Adam and the kiddos, it feels more friendly if that makes sense. My brother in law has ADHD and has his own little ways. My nephew is 16 and autistic they are now assessing my eldest and youngest nieces to see if they also have special characters. Thank You again x Ellie 🐠

Awe, Katie, I’m so glad to hear you had a great experience meeting Misha Collins. It’s funny how many people actually do diamond painting. Just recently my husband and I were having dinner at a restaurant and when our server came to the table I immediately noticed her name tag and saw she had drills around it. I said, “do you diamond paint?” And she said yes. So needless to say I had to pull up some pictures of mine to share 😊. 🌴☀️🌴

How fun! The first few seasons have kind of a “monster of the week” vibe but season 4 it really takes off, and the character from the custom I did is introduced 🥰

I was laughing with you thinking the older kit was an antique, along with the new changes already they just had as well. I'm so glad you got the painting signed, can't wait to hear more about it. Glad to hear the convention went well. I had a similar thing happen to me at a Star Trek convention shortly after next generation started airing. I was working at a book store and the very first next generation novel had just come out in paperback and I was lucky enough to get one which I took to the convention with me. Johnathan Frakes was one of the guests and I was able to get his autograph in the book. He was really intrigued about the book as he hadn't heard of it. He even started to read it before the convention staff gently urged him to continue on to the next attendee. Made my weekend.

Holy cow, the older kit is so cool to see the difference and the wonderful things we have just gotten so used to that older kits are missing. I’ve just been her since February 2023 and it’s already changed leaps and bounds. Your Diamond Dotz dragon really did turn out pretty, I just would have hated opening it up to the frayed edges and black marks. I have really been spoiled with DAC I guess. As far as the different events, it’s kind of like entering and following rules that a company has for winning big commercial prizes. If I want to participate I just do my best to follow the rules so not to mess up. I signed up for that and it’s just part of the process. I must say Drills and Chills 2023 was an absolute blast the entire time. I was so excited for every Saturday to watch both your and Lindsey’s videos. It was something I looked forward to every week. It’s fun to hear how excited you got getting to go and take your diamond painting to be signed. Kudos to you for getting to go. Thanks for spending time with us while we paint. I always enjoy hearing about your kiddos and how well things are going. I have lived this and coming out the other side is so rewarding to see. 🐠🐡

Happy Monday! I'm taking a few days off of work this week, so I'm spending my days dotting away on Summer Nights. I think I'm going to join in the Ivy Dolamore event in May, so I may be working on some snack sized kits after Summer Nights, and while I await May. I'm glad you had a great time at the convention! I'm not a Supernatural fan, but I've been to some cons before. I had a photo op with Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries and OMG he's so sweet, not to mention handsome! I think walking away from him was the only time I've ever literally been weak in the knees ha!

🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠Hi Katie, good morning from Los Angeles County. Glad you had a great time at the Supernatural Convention. I had never heard of the show until you mentioned it. I asked my bestie about the show. She said she watched the show but found the show boring. I like the fact your Mom likes Diamond painting. My computer guy saw Golden Cocker Spaniel on the dining room table. He asked about what GCS was, and I explained the process to him. He likes Dragons. My caregiver told me to give a Dragon DP to him. At first I thought about giving him ( oh he will have to pay me) Dragon's Den from Craftabilty. Now I have changed my mind. What fan writers are doing is not only wrong, it is illegal under copyright laws. I am glad your sons are doing well. When you mentioned about Micha going to speech therapy I remember my late sister going to speech therapy. She even went to therapy when she was at Cerritos College and Long Beach State. I was, when we were children, the only one who understood her.

Oh dear! I totally get your feelings about dentists. Unfortunately I have an irrational fear of dentists and already fainted a few times when I had appointments. I know, this is all in my head, and the dentist won't kill me, but my body just shuts down. I hate it. So I send all good wishes from Austria (Europe) to you for your next apponitment!!! 🐠🐟

I have bad teeth genetics as well :/ So I totally feel your pain. Im so glad your boys are doing so well. Mine is having some trouble with meltdowns at school and we just went through a quick iep update as well. I love that you got to go have so much fun and share your painting with Misha! Sounds like he was interested and his assistants could get him started. 🙂 I feel for you with the dental stuff - I've had quite a lot done in the past 10-15 years. And my old fillings are starting to fail so that means more work. Ugh.

I went to my first SPN convention I believe in 2021, Denver....it was the first con they had after covid pushed all the others back to a different date. So we had the plastic partitions separating us from the actors, we had to wear a mask at all times, etc. It kind of sucked since it was my first con, not being able to hug the actors or anything, but it was still fun! We were supposed to have Ruth and Richard there but they ended up cancelling so they got Samantha and someone else (can't remember who) to be there instead....I got autographs from a lot of the actors and photos of J2, the ladies of SPN (which was just Kim, Brianna, and Sam), and then one of just Kim. It was awesome and I hope to go to another one someday!

🐠 I really needed this boost today. I'm also working on an older DAC kit (not pink square box old, however 😆) and it really is taking it out of me. The drills are full of trashy bits, the glue is slippery in several places causing the drills to migrate, which is creating gapping so obnoxious I've almost jacked it in twice. So your little WIP n chat has helped me work through another hour of a kit I was planning on packing away today, and there's not too much left to go now. I'll be done with it in a couple of hours! Wuh-HOO 🎉🥳😂

I am right there with you regarding waiting for drills if you run out. I had that come up when I was only 1/2 way done with a kit. When I contacted the company, they suggested waiting until I was 80% done before filing a claim in case more colors ran short. The warranty only covers 2 claims, so I didn’t file a claim. I was frustrated because I didn’t feel it was plausible to recall everywhere that I left waiting for drills and knew there would be missing ones. I too dug through my leftover drills. Glad to have you back! 🐡🎏

Yeah I did my 33rd diamond painting and ran out of 3 colors. This is the first time. Luckily I save my spares. I had all the colors. Yay

I’m happy you enjoyed the con and got your painting signed! I need to see how this kit ends up looking like. I hope it’s not a pixelated mess. I did an older DAC (not that old but in the time when they were making changes) and shockingly ran out of one color. I was sure I needed a lot more so I went on Amazon and purchased the Art Dot set of drills. Yeah that was a waste of time and money as I needed 2 whole drills😅. It was a leaf and I could have used any other green that I had plenty of. There were lots of leaves left in my defense, and I use opaque release paper so I assumed that color was going to be in them. Oh well you live and learn. 🐡🐠

I'm so happy that you had such a good time at the con, and that so many people loved your diamond painting. And I'm glad you took the time off from the WIP and chat when you needed- I did miss it on Monday but I much prefer you taking care of you. :) As for fandom, I've been in the fandom spaces for a long time and I think the idea of Fanart and Fanfiction is that most artists and writers enjoy that fans do it, but like you said, it is not legal for you to make money off the IP so once you start selling it, they have every legal right to get you to stop and pay them compensation. Most times they will just send a cease and desist letter (I've seen this happen a few times), but Disney has the money and the muscle to crack down hard so most people should stay away from trying to sell any Disney type stuff. Most people get away with selling at cons mostly because they are small beans and don't get caught, but it's still illegal nevertheless.

Oh, I thought they're was a Chrissa Bug event but couldn't tenement when! I stayed one this month for my birthday and it's my first one to work on! Absolutely loving but not sure if I want to pull out another one so soon! She's my favorite artist and a lot of hers are really special to me! There's also an Ivy Dolamore event coming soon and Jade's and Anthony's event! Too many and not enough time to do them all!

It sounds like Misha Collins had the reaction of " woah that's a thing?! " when it comes to diamond painting. My parents pretty much reacted the same way when I got my first kit many moons ago. That's kinda a bummer that the Dragon Lady gave you a difficult time because she looks gorgeous. 🐡

Hi! I have a lot of thoughts about AI but also recognize that it’s a very controversial topic. I think I may have touched on my thoughts just a little bit, here and there in WIP and Chats, but I can see about talking about it a little more in an upcoming one. In short, though, you may notice that to the best of my knowledge and what I can recognize, you’re not seeing kits with AI art being unboxed or featured on my channel at the moment ☺️

Events… I was heavy into events 2023. I thought it would be nice to be involved AND it would help me choose dps from my stash. I started 2024 the same way, but I have decided to curb that. I am doing Dakotathon April and May and a small Mandie in May, but then I’m freeing myself from events until Drills & Chills. I will participate if it’s something I want to do anyway, but otherwise I’m following my nose! 🐟

30x40 isn't a small kit to me! I'm just starting (well, it's been several months now), but the bigger ones (and squares) intimidate me!

That’s totally understandable! Maybe try a smaller square kit first (like PaintGem sets, maybe?) to get your feet wet on those, and then gradually work your way up in size, if you want to! It helps if it’s artwork you really love, too.

Since you’re in a reading slump, have you tried a different genre, then the ones you normally go to? I’ve kinda lost my interest in fictional stories, but I’ve been enjoying reading non-fiction books and learning interesting facts about things I’m interested in 🐠 🐟 🎣

🐡🐠Omg, my dentist once did 3/4 of my mouth numb at the same time since it was little fillings in each of those quadrants. I ended up having to go back to get a couple filed down more since I was SO numb I had no way to tell if they were correct. 🤣 Do not recommend!

That's why I'm wondering the legalities of fanart being sold as diamond art...Stuff like that Misha fanart diamond painting... wouldn't that also fall under being illegal because it's being sold as a print/other medium? That's why I wonder if that's why Diamond Art Club had to phase out licensing fanart from marvel/Disney because Disney probably came to them saying get rid of these fan artworks and then we can work with you.

Totally, I hear you! I’m not sure why DAC phased out those kits, but that could be. So fanart and fanfiction seem to have slightly different effects and rules, but I have to be honest that I’m not a legal expert on this. I just see a lot of fanart being able to straddle the line of what companies like Disney will see as violating their IP, such as, as long as you don’t use their licensed character names, or have the exact or toooo close to their animation style, etc. However, when it comes to fanfiction and written transformative works, it seems like there’s either less precedent in place or there’s something about that that means you’re using their IPs and exact characters in a way that’s problematic. I’m sorry I’m not more helpful in explaining it, I’d recommend taking a look at the Organization for Transformative Works for a little more info if you want to deep-dive on it!

You've got me wanting to start watching Supernatural. I have never seen it. Would you say it's a show that gets your attention from the start, or does it really need an episode (or season) or two to really get interesting? 🐡🐟

Hmm, good question! The first three seasons have a very “monster of the week” kind of feel to them, but there’s a big shift and introduction of some new characters and overarching storylines in season 4 that a lot of people feel like is when the show really picks up. I still really enjoy the first few seasons, but thought the context might be helpful ☺️

Hi! As far as licensed Supernatural kits goes, the most I’ve seen out there is fanart that you can ask for the artist’s permission to get a custom diamond painting of, like I did with mine. It would be so cool to have some officially licensed kits from the show, too!
