My dear friend, you know I love listening to your WIP and chats and find they add to the relaxing and calming ambiance while I diamond paint! However, I’m glad we changed subjects from the dentist. We had a traumatic experience over here when Aidan was 5 or 6 and yeah, any dental work will be general anesthesia from here on out. I’m surprised how chill he is to go to the dentist after that because I’m still traumatized myself. I’m glad it seemed a little easier for you guys, although I know the mom guilt that comes with health and genetic stuff like that so I know that part has been difficult to manage. I’d love to see you work on the TSA kit next! I’ve checked out their site a couple times and that particular artist is one of the few I’ve gravitated towards so I’d love to see your thoughts on it so I know whether to make the dive or not. As far as cliques, I would hope that our group of established friends doesn’t dissuade anyone from trying to be included. I don’t feel like you’ve been exclusionary at all, but I don’t know if I can say the same for myself. I’m kind of shy and worry (A LOT!) about what people will think of me so that is sometimes a barrier to meeting new people, but I find if I open up - whether about mental health issues as of late, or our crazy non-PG antics in lives, and people accept me or reach out or try to join our perverted ride, I try to be receptive and encourage that interaction. I feel like you’re much the same way and we don’t ever intend to ignore or leave anyone out of the fun. You’re honestly a role model for me in how I want to welcome new people and make them feel really cared about, among a few other people I’ve met in the DP community, and I’m so grateful to Meli for fostering me into meeting some incredible people. I’ll be more aware of that in social opportunities and try to do what Katie would do. 💜

I listen while I diamond paint and it's the perfect company 😘 As a newbie (started diamond painting in February) and the experience so far is that everyone in the community is very nice. It's natural that you click more with some people and no shame in that. I come from the adult coloring book community where I feel like safe kind of. To come to a new community can be scary cause in a way you have to start all over to get to know people. We all want to belong I guess 💖

I know I’m kind of late to the party, but I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed listening to you. Even though my kids are much older, as a fellow mom I totally identify with your feelings. ❤️ Your sons sound like tremendous humans! This is all so hard, especially for elementary school parents I think. I’m positive your kindness meant everything to your son’s teacher. My sister is a first grade teacher, and she is having a tough time. Parents have been so mean this year. 😥 The clique aspect of social media can be really hard to navigate I think. I tend to stay away from lives and some group events just to be safe in that regard, but as a result I sometimes feel out of the loop. I think it’s a fine balance, and I’m not sure there’s a perfect answer. 😀

Katie, I have been a fan of yours for a long time and I am now committed to watching/listening to your videos from the beginning. I have just turned 70 and I have so sooo many videos to watch I feel as if I might hit 90 before I am through them. 😂 I just wanted to comment on this videos content where you have talked about your poor little guy having to have a GA to have his teeth filled. I have a disabled son who is now 33 and it has been a memorable ride to get him to that age. I feel as if I have aged 5 years to his every year. Truly though, most of the time he is really easy to get along with. He is total care even though he is ambulatory and he speaks very well. But his fine motor skills are almost non existent so he can’t dress or undress, he can’t wash himself or clean his own teeth and he can’t clean himself after going to the toilet. Too much info I think. I was interested to hear what your dentist said about genetics. It is so true. I looked after my teeth really well and here I. Australia we still have fluoride in the water and I am sure that has made a huge difference to the generations following me so that even if your kids are unfortunate enough to have terrible dental genetics. Also there is a massive difference with the emphasis being on oral hygiene . My kids were lucky in that my husband has great teeth and I am so thankful that all my kids (there are 5 of them now between the ages of 48 and 33) have great teeth. Damien (my disabled son) has never had a filling but he has had 4 wisdom teeth out under GA of course. So Katie, you have my sympathy when it comes to your little mean’s teeth. Connor sounds like an amazing child and I hope for your sake Micha (sorry about the spelling I am Sure it’s wrong) becomes less of a tornado as he gets older. Thank you for the chat. I always enjoy listening while working on my own wip. I’m very shy around new people until I get to know them and get comfortable. Almost everybody in this community has been so friendly and welcoming though! I’m interested in tips for the skinny and everlasting multiplacers. I’ve checked out a few other videos already but everyone brings a different perspective to the table. Next project, my vote is TSA! Hope your tiny human is feeling better!

I have been patiently waiting for "Blossom Buddies" by Puffy Gator. I too hope that is one of the new releases. I also want to get "Plant Witch" by Geneva Bowers. I recently got "Ali" by Jack Magurany, a new DIYMoon Shop release, and they have new symbols. There is no 9, g, a, or e. So I think they have fixed the issue with their new releases. I am interested in seeing you do the Mary's Diamonds canvas. I have not seen many finished paintings from them.

I know what you mean by the cliques. You are always so welcoming and friendly to everyone. Stephanie is right, you set a good example. I have had the opposite experience with a clique on IG and I find it incredibly immature. Grown adults shouldn’t be acting like middle schoolers. It’s a difficult balance though, between the inside jokes among friends and wanting others to feel welcome. I think too, because so many of us crafters are introverts, it’s more difficult for us to connect as it is. So it becomes harder when there are established groups. That’s my experience at least. Even with people I consider friends individually, when everyone is in a group, I can sometimes feel like an outsider. It was so kind of you to thank his teacher. I know it meant a lot to her. Everyone should please remember to be kind and show appreciation for all school staff. From administration, counselors, teachers, custodians, school psychologists 😉 (had to throw us in because we are always overlooked!), etc...we are all on the verge of a mental breakdown these days and a small act of kindness, even a simple “I see how hard you’re working and you’re appreciated” goes a long way. ☺️

The only distracted by diamonds I'm looking for is that puggygator. You know I often feel like I'm in the outside looking in. I have very few CLOSE friends but don't fit in with the groups.

I sometimes feel like I’m on the edge of several dp groups. I envy your homeschool problem. I have 9th and 10th graders that work slow. So we are now working 9-6 M-F and 10-4 on Saturday. But this is because they kinda just wasted September and October. It’s overwhelming. I’m hoping the next semester will be different now that we found our groove.

OMG YES about the clique thing! There's nothing worse than feeling completely shut out of a group! I'm dealing with this myself, and because I have social issues I think theres something wrong with me when it comes to this group of individuals 🙄 For my own mental health I should really leave this particular chat group probably.

I' enjoyed your chat. I will say in my 2 plus years of watching creators come and go I have totally seen clicks and I have seen very welcoming creators and watchers. I've seen creators who were really nice until they became popular and then tended to seem cliquish. The only thing I can say for me is I am much more reserved now than I was. I seldom comment anymore but there are a few select creators like yourself that are here for the love of the craft and I enjoy watching and will try and comment on. I may not comment but I'm giving the watch time 🙂.

I don't use the links in the eye or Rather I lol I have never order from diymoon shop or TSA, I can who's closer to some people then other but thats ok I always feel so welcome when I'm chatting with others, I get so overwhelmed with the comments and I just don't reply and keep up with whats being said and I am fine with that, Its so sad that the kids can't really go to school I have mine in virtual home schooling, and my son has started kindergarten :( so sad he's not gotten the experience of going to school, my nephew is autistic and super smart at math and numbers and destroying things and putting it back together my brother said he loves to take old radio's apart and put it back together!!! there is a shortage here for teachers and the schools that get covid some teachers are quiting smh and I am so ready for this pandemic to be sooo over... Super late to this video. Do not blame yourself for kiddies 🦷 teeth issues. My now 13 yr old daughter had early decay at the age of two due to one of the worst cases of hand foot and mouth disease AND thrush at the same time. She had multiple “root canals” before she was even 6 years old….we just found out a couple years ago that she has oligodontia. The two upper side incisors never developed for her. It’s not super common but of all three of my girls she has been the one with the best oral hygiene and yet the worst teeth. She’s doing well now. Eventually we will be doing braces to shift her canines back into place and when she finishes growing, she will be able to get two implants where the teeth never developed
