(WIP) Mario Kart DS Wii | pre-Alpha Showcase

Күн бұрынThis is a showcase of an upcoming custom track distribution for Mario Kart Wii. There are still a lot of things to add and change such as custom vehicles, characters, their stats, sounds and UI. Also mechanics such as miniturbo charging and item probabilities are reverted back to the ones from MKDS.

This is PRE-ALPHA??? Dude, this looks amazing!! It feels like I went right back to 2005 with this, and it all looks fantastic. R.O.B. looks very impressive as a custom character as well!!

I love the detail of the minimap showing items like bananas and green shells! This is seriously impressive, I look forward to the future of this mod.

The loops in Rainbow Road were funny, but what made this race even better was the comeback! Once you got over the loop, I was on the edge of my seat, hoping you didn't fall in the end, but you didn’t and it was incredible! Overall, this was fun to watch.

You kept the mechanics. Thats a whole new level of immersion. Thought it would be a regular track change pack but going this far blew my fucking mind. For a pre alpha build you pretty much blew every other mod for MKWII out of the water. I can't wait to see the final product.

I love how this mod makes karts viable again and seemingly able to out-pace bikes. I do believe a little tweaking would be needed but so far from what I'm seeing this balances out both kart and bike players with the knowledge of both DS and Wii's mechanics pretty well.

This looks so incredibly faithful, I live for mods like this. All the DS details feel completely untouched from the original DS ROM, I think because they literally are, and if so I have huge respect for that.

as someone who still plays MKDS regularly to this day, this is VERY exciting and something I desperately need to download when available - hopefully more of ROB's DS sounds can be used though? His current voice seems to be made up of distorted King Boo and other character sounds, so fingers crossed this gets updated

Sorry, but since the character is over King Boo's character slot and his voice clips are quite hard to modify as they differ from how other characters use their clips, it is too much work to start editing each to sound proper. And to my knowledge this character mod already uses ROB's original sounds and as it has been put over King Boo that's why they sometimes sound dissorted, too high pitched etc. You can check the mod from here for more details: gamebanana.com/mods/421826

Omg I love this! Mario Kart DS was my VERY FIRST video game, and fusing it with the best Mario Kart game is the BEST thing ever! I can't wait for this mod to be released!

This looks really nice so far! Although I don't think the items should be shown on the minimap, it worked for DS since it was on a separate screen; here, not so much. And then there are situations where the items fly out of bounds, like the green shells around the 7:28 mark, which is kind of distracting.

Interestingly professor E Gadd from Luigi’s mansion was planning to be as his first playable character mario kart DS sadly he was scrapped and replace with dry bones instead
