The Mangwe South District of Zimbabwe is a forgotten place by the world and most of Zimbabwe. A place that is rural, where livestock are the chief economic driver of the villagers dotted around the landscape, and where people are living hand to mouth. The villagers own the land, but have no resources to manage and improve it, and wildlife is something that is considered a nuisance vs., a commodity to be valued. That was until Guav Johnson decided to help. Wire and Water is the capture of Guav's heart for wildlife and the people of Dukwe Village. A story of how sustainable wildlife use can be utilized to provide protein, fruit tree's, jobs, and most importantly wire for their cattle and fields, and water for their cattle and people. This story is a common one across vast tracts of Africa, but rarely does someone get to see it.
If you loved the film please share it with someone who may not understand hunting and its benefits for people of this world.
Massive thanks to Bergara International for all of their funding towards wildlife conservation ALL AROUND the WORLD.

Siyabonga to Meneer Guav for doing such a mammoth task in repaying the taxes, building water supplies, fencing and helping the community benefit from the land, Guav has done more than the ruling government has done since 1980. Kudos to Menner Kruger for presenting the excellent work being done by this conservationist. Special mention to the Spanish partners helping fund this project. God bless Africa. Baie dankie.

To Guav and team siyabonga for protecting and investing (your legacy) in your corner of the world , your patch of Zimbabwe🇿🇼. @blood origins thank you for the very informative video. I hope you create more content on what ($dollar value) it takes to preserve and keep wildlife+nature coexisting in harmony in Africa, in the Amazon. Covering the stories of Farmers, Communities and what hunters/tourists contribute to the Sustainability of the wilderness. How you told the story of how an elephant kill means to the community around conservation areas before Botswana sends 20000 elephants to Germany since they don't want them un-alived.

There is hope through the heart of good people. A sustainable approach through mutual understanding amongst all key stakeholders. An inspiring documentary about conservation through collective community participation and engagement. Now, with the additional grant support from donors its a added bonus to the relentless hard work and efforts committed so far. A catalyst of change and a model of how simple methods including education through open dialog can be assembled together for the greater benefit despite the setbacks. I have learned a lot from this documentary. All the best. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story. As they say, the solution is in the problem.👍🇵🇬

Great documentary Robbie Kroger, educating people about the challenges of wildlife conservation. Water is life for everything & everyone. Great to see these types of community projects which benefit people, livestock & wildlife. Using cattle grids within gaps so elephants can still follow their traditional corridors is a great "thinking out of the box" conservation tool!. By the time I initiated a water project (5) in Tabora Tanzania (2005-2015) sadly there wasn't any wildlife left except in a village where guinea fowl were being fed for the table.

Gentlemen 🤜🏿🤜🏿 You're doing amazing work and you deserve the best for sure to come out of such an initiative. The beauty of it is that it's a 50/50 scenario with the local community hence further education for them and the like with nature and conservation. "We are not strangers coming from the Mashonaland province. We are your brothers", sounds like a Rhodesian or economic hitman sowing seeds of division amongst brothers to divide and rule once again like his forefathers. We have been on that path before and it didn't end well for all of us. We are now all Zimbabweans, Shona, Ndebele, White. None of us is a stranger in any part of Zimbabwe.

@@ThedigitalAfrican Imaginecthe hypocrisy. When white people hunt in Africa for fun and entertainment, its given fancy legal terms like trophy hunting and game hunting but when locals do it for survival because their forefathers were forced off their productive land, its given ugly names like poaching, and yes they will be shot down dead by the very same people who are all puppy eyes crying in this documentary and their children will suffer way worse because of severe poverty. Is that not hypocrisy gone on a rampage. The world needs to know that before poaching laws, and colonization the black man would hunt and farm in very conservative ways, methods that are now being revisited by science today. Issues with declining numbers and extinction of game only came with colonization and man who claimed to be saviors. Will there be enough transparency with the proceeds from the hunting fees to ensure the locals fully benefit from it all?
@BloodOrigins
@BloodOrigins Ай бұрын
Has he sown seeds of division? You are correct all Zimbabweans are Zimbabweans.
@BloodOrigins
@BloodOrigins Ай бұрын
You keep talking about people being forced off the land - and yes that's true, but in this specific example, the land belongs to the local people. Its theirs. The locals themselves called it poaching as other people were coming onto THEIR land and taking THEIR wildlife. Unfortunately you may not be satisfied with any situation presented, no matter how good it is for everyone. Again I ask ... what is your solution? What would you do right now? History is history and it was terrible. So what can we do about it right now?
