Hi guys, thanks so much for the wait! Here it is, the Wire Jewelry Making Tools video finally uploaded. I'm still using the tips that I share in the last chapter before I buy new tools, so be sure to watch that part. I had many challenges making this 1st voiceover video. The sound quality is not the best yet, I'll research and buy a better microphone before making the next one. If there is ever a next one :P But, if you like to see similar videos more, do let me know in the comment below.

This was great! I would love to see you demonstrate certain techniques with wire wrapping. I am a beginner and my technique is not good at this point so it would be nice to have you do a video on some tips like the one you showed us using your bent nose pliers. For this beginning video it would be good to go very slow and do basic techniques. Thank you for your contribution to jewelry design. I love your minimalist pieces and I loved that butterfly!

Maggie, are you able to do a tutorial for wires? Which types don’t tarnish maybe different gauges and what they’re appropriate for? Also, if you wish, could you attach a tab for tips on your account? Thanks.

Sure, I can schedule to make a tutorial on wires, but it has to wait for a while. (Have some other projects to work on now) Hope you don’t mind. :) I was thinking about the tip button too, but wasn’t sure how it works, I’ll figure that out. And thanks so much in advance :D

I just fell in love with with your channel. I'm so happy I've found it. Thank you Maggie. It's awesome that you showing us everything - supplies, techniques, materials. For now, I do beading, but I want to develop and do other things, more jeweler works. Or combine them with each other, and not only use purchased semi-finished products. And I really like your sense of aesthetics, very feminine and minimalist. I haven't watched all your videos yet, so if you don't have one on your channel, I'd love to see a video about different types of wires. Metals, thicknesses, colors. It would be great. Best regards, can't wait for more videos. ❤

Hello I’m so happy to get connected with other jewelry makers here and thanks for your wonderful comment. :) Also thanks so much for your feedback, I’ll definitely make a video about wires this year, (since many have requested) but I can’t promise exactly when yet. I’m searching for a better microphone for recording, hope I could find one soon. ☺️🧡

@@MaggieCSAtelier I guess this happens when you're self-taught 😉 If someone had some courses or training, it is easier for them to establish contact with colleagues in the profession. For the rest, there is the Internet. Especially if you live in a city like mine where there's no access to groups of your interests 🥴 But this has its huge advantages, because you are not closed to diversity resulting from different cultures or experiences. The world is your oyster 😊

Very well said, most jewelry makers I know of are self-taught. It’s not the matter of where, just an attitude of willing to learn. ☺️✨

New subscriber here! I'm more of a simple and minimalist kind of style. I'm thinking of earrings and necklaces. Since I'm just starting out...I've been searching and learning stuffs that I needed before taking actions. So right now, I'm thinking of learning about the pliers that I needed. And I'm definitely be making my own jump rings for sure haha.

Thank you for this video! I’d like to know, how do you preserve copper pieces from tarnishing? 🤔🤔
@MaggieCSAtelier
@MaggieCSAtelier Жыл бұрын
Hi Adrianna. :) you can use renaissance wax to coat your base metal jewelry to prolong the shine. But bear in mind that the metal would change color again when the coating worn off. Alternatively, send your finished pieces for gold plating or electro plating. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Maggie! I just discovered your channel yesterday! I love the projects that you are creating! This video was really helpful! I was wondering if you can do a video about the wires you are using. Different brands exist and with different materials. I don't witch one are the best and witch one that don't tarnish!

@@MaggieCSAtelier No problem! No rush! I saw in the comment that someone else is interesting to know more about the different wires also. So it was just to propose a subject for an other video! I would like to create design similar to yours. I like minimalist and classic design for jewlery. Also I don't have trainning or diploma in jewlery making. I'm learning slowly by my self. I don't know the different characteristics of different metal. I just know that copper is soft. Concerning your health, I know you will get better! I'm sending positive vibe toward you!

Thanks so much for your warm regards and understanding and welcome to the world of jewelry making :) Most of the jewelry makers I know of don’t have a diploma so it’s fine, just learn on your own pace. Generally brass would be slightly harder. But almost all Jewelry wires comes in different hardness nowadays so you can pick the one work best for your project. (Dead soft, half hard, hard) I used half hard wires mostly for non soldered projects and soft wire for wire wrapping. I always list the choice of wire gauges in description down below all the videos. You can checks them out too.

This was SO helpful- thank you!! Can you tell me exactly which wires are the most tarnish resistant? I want my jewelry to last as long as possible before tarnishing… Which kind/brand do you like best?
@Ilovejewelry06
@Ilovejewelry06 9 ай бұрын
Oh, sorry- and I mean other than gold filled. Like, do you have a brand of copper wire that is tarnish resistant? A gold brass wire that is tarnish resistant? And finally, if you can share your supplier for gold filled wire, that’d be great ONLY if they sell in smaller quantities too. If not, no need to share, because I’m just starting out and can’t afford to buy in such bulk! I am located in the USA. Thanks!!
@MaggieCSAtelier
@MaggieCSAtelier 9 ай бұрын
So glad you find the video helpful. It depends on your designs when comes to choosing wires. Raw brass and copper would tarnish over a period of time for sure. But you can send them for gold plating or just polish them to bring back the shine. If your designs doesn’t require any shaping and sanding, you could opt for coated wires, they’d last for years before changing colors. I have all the materials and tools links down in description below every video. Check them out if you like. :)

Yes they are pretty strong. I could have sold them but the shipping fees from mine are expansive these days. So it makes more sense for viewers to purchase from own local suppliers if possible. Do look for something that feels heavy and sturdy when you’re shopping for yours. 😉

What would be a good alternative to a Foredom flex shaft? I'm just starting to make things and I would like to polish the things I make, but I'm not ready to invest in a Foredom flex shaft. A polishing cloth isn't giving me the effect I want. What did you do before you purchased yours? Thanks!
@MaggieCSAtelier
@MaggieCSAtelier 9 ай бұрын
I was using polishing cloth and nail polishing stick before purchasing a flex shaft. Lol…. Of course it takes much more effort and time to get the result I wanted. But I think a handheld rotary tools would do the work too, you could search online and see anything that is within your budget. Hope this helps. :)

Hi. The 18g and 20g wire you mention in your videos, does it mean 18 gauge wire and 20 guage wire respectively. Also, can 14k half hard gold wire be used instead of gold-filled?
@MaggieCSAtelier
@MaggieCSAtelier 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes. The g is short for gauge. And you can totally replace the gold-filled wire with 14k gold. I use gold-filled because it’s more affordable for everyone:)
