He really is one of the top five greatest actors alive in my opinion. This film (Naked) was my introduction to him. It’s an old favorite.

Is it underrated? It’s usually in the lists of best punk albums

I think Wire are definitely overlooked and an underrated band when you compare the rubbish that’s been around since - only true fans know about WIRE - if you asked a kid if they’ve heard of The Cure or Nirvana they more than likely have / yet you mention WIRE or MAGAZINE and they’ve no clue

Kids today don't know what "underrated" or "iconic" mean and use both to mean "something I like"
@Shikta-poobah675 ай бұрын
@@docsavage8640 It’s all part of the new and revised version of the English language - “post-internet English”. It may seem like a joke, but I’m completely serious. The internet, which has been in common usage around the globe now for roughly a quarter century, has effectively changed the way we talk, and the meaning of certain words/phrases. Most common among these changed words are words like “underrated”, “iconic”, and “epic”… and phrases like “ahead of his/her/it’s/their time”. Those are the ones I see most on social media anyway. I’m not offering a personal opinion on any of this. My opinions are irrelevant in this context. I’m merely stating an observation.

I realize that I’m only adding more fuel to the fire here, but no… Pink Flag really isn’t underrated. First of all, who exactly is doing all this rating? The media? Who cares what they think? Wire doesn’t need their approval or validation, and never has. All I know is that in my experience, anyone who’s opinion has ever mattered to me, for the most part has typically always regarded Pink Flag as one of the all time greatest albums ever made by anybody, not that it matters. The only “rating” that truly matters to me is my own personal opinion. I first listened to this incredible album in its entirety for the very first time in late summer 1980. I was about a month shy of turning 13 years old. It blew me away on first listen and I was immediately hooked. From that point forward I listened to it every day for about 3 or 4 months, until it was essentially burned into my brain, and even though I still had a lot to learn about everything at that age, I somehow already knew that it was always going to be one of those albums that would rarely, if ever be topped by anything else I heard in the years to come. A gold standard. And then I heard Chairs Missing and 154, but that’s a whole other story.

Wire is probably the most influential band to come out of the "77 British Punk scene. So important and formative too many musicians period covered by Minor Threat, fIREHOSE, as well as Henrietta Collins & the wife-beating child haters. This is just a very important and influential album.

It has definitely been one of my own personal biggest influences through the years, as have Chairs Missing and 154, which took me a bit longer to appreciate, but once I did became essential listening. Those three albums are probably the best example of a band hyper-evolving in a short period of time that I can think of.

Yes they do. What an amazing discography! Still going today, though it’s been a bit of a spell since the last album (2020). With the sole exception of the very early 90’s, they’ve been consistently good-to-great with the overall quality of their recordings. I could have done without Manscape though. Dreadful album.

Oh what a song, what an album this was. Wire was incredibly original and inventive. Is it wrong to wish to wish they remain as obscure and underrated as I think they are, so I could be among the fewest who had access to their dimension.

If you haven’t seen Gangster No 1 you haven’t lived. Not this film but an excellent film with this excellent actor who made a bad choice being in a shit kids movie…
@Shikta-poobah675 ай бұрын
@@laravelisbullschitt3281 “shit kid’s movie” or not, his participation in the Harry Potter franchise hardly defines his (very illustrious) career, so I really don’t get how it was a “bad choice”. It opened a lot of doors for him actually. There are several other very respectable actors who were in various roles in the Potter movies, and it didn’t limit or define their careers either.
