its one of the most well known facts about that particular creature, whats crazy about its punching power is that such a small creature can seriously hurt you with just one strike. It's said to produce forces exceeding a .22 caliber bullet

@@martinmartensson4715 It's an _extremely_ small amount of matter that gets heated up this much, so there is aactually very little energy involved (in that aspect). Imagine getting hit by a projectile like a pistol bullet, but instead of an actual bullet, it's a single grain of finely ground flour (ignoring air friction). The _speed_ would be the same as that of an actual pistol bullet, but the mass would be extremely low, and consequently the energy as well - you'd barely notice it instead of bleeding all over the floor ;)

Fun fact the surface of the sun is actually relatively cold -"only" about 5600 degrees celsius. Now the atmosphere and core of the sun are a different story at millions of degrees

Will you ask him why he doesn't point out there is really no such thing as fish? Phylogenetic taxonomic groups must be clades. A clade is a group that includes all the descendents of a common ancestor and that ancestor, and all the different organisms that we think of as fish don't form a clade.

Guys, "Fishes" is correct. The only time "fish" is used in the plural is when you are referring to many of one *kind* of fish. (Which is what we do normally). It is "Fishes" when you are referring to the entirety of the paraphyletic group.

This goes for all group nouns. Here are some examples using the word milk: -I love milk. -I love soy milk. -They are both good milks. -I love all kinds of milk. -Different cultivars of soybean will produce different soy milks. In the 2nd to last example, using "all kinds of milks" would also be correct. It would take a pedant detective to even know if you meant "different kinds of [cow] milk" or "different 'milks'" in general. But in the last example, "different soy milk" will actually sound wrong to our ears. To make an identical kind of example using fish let's try this (while quickly fact checking this example I found a better example on wiki lol so behold the first sentence of the wiki entry for Trout): -Trout is a generic common name for numerous species of carnivorous freshwater ray-finned fishes belonging to the genera Oncorhynchus. In general, as the op said, you'll only really find "fishes" written in textbooks. Fishes of the Atlantic Sea, and so forth. The second commenter, can't tell if they were poorly joking or not, but they are on to something as well. If we are referring to all of the individuals of a collective noun, we use a plural verb. If we are referring to a collective noun doing something as a unit we use a singular verb. This logic helps us a bit to know when to when to use fish/fishes, milk/milks, butter/butters, etc. -My butter will be a hit at the Farmer's Market! -Oh yeah? Well one of my butters is sure to win the contest. Actually, all of my butters are guaranteed winners! Note the differences between "my butter", "one of my butters", and "my butters". The word fish is typically used exactly in this way too. Yet a native English speaker with myself wouldn't bat an eye if you said 'fish' for all those examples, and never 'fishes'. And frankly, it's probably because we collectively and historically thought of fish, throughout the years, as a food group. e.g. I love a bit of fish. Cheers! And don't worry if you mess this up, we all do. This is the kind of thing that's not likely to lead to confusion, and it's why we aren't all super confident about the rules.

As someone who got their degree in Marine Science, this makes me so happy. Yes, I knew the answers, but this guy is so hella charismatic, I felt like I was learning something new. And, as someone who also specialized in studying fish for graduate degree programs, it's also a joy to see a lot of fish-based questions. Fish are, no doubt, the coolest group of organisms on the planet.

Truly fascinating! I volunteer regularly at a very special coral reef bay doing education and conservation. And there were things in here I didn’t know it was very interesting and informative. Really a well done video as well. Want to see more of this! Want everyone to see more of this!
