It was really interesting, how sound does actually help both in recognizing a game and in helping with the gameplay and atmosphere itself... It's not really something players usually pay attention while playing the games.

This is some really fascinating psychology behind the sounds that we as gamers just take for granted. However, we are forgetting one of the most important games that brought innovation in every aspect. KNACK 2 BABYEEEEE

Minecraft: Good game in concept and design. Near revolutionary for Gaming Community. Level of customizability Great staff that talks to the fans constantly and keeps them updated on progress in the game. Minecraft: A shit load of people hate it because a game for ALL ages just felt the "Need" to attract little kids.

WIRED, the series you've been putting out recently like the Accent Breakdown and now the Video Game Sounds have been incredible. Please continue with this sort of stuff.

I am actually one of those legally blind people who enjoy playing overwatch. Although i am also colour blind, the red cones in my eyes do not work and non of the current colour blind settings really work, but that is kind of to be expected there are far to many types of colour blindness to account for them all. This was an excellent video and for me sound design is extremely important in games because it gives me so much more information. Games like halo, overwatch, and destiny have so many small sounds that carry so much meaning, whether it is hearing a person's footsteps and knowing where they are in relation to you, or hearing when a boss enemy is about to use a certain kind of attack due to a small charge up sound. Many of my friends dont seem to hear these small sounds but i most certainly do and greatly appreciate them and all the work that sound designers put into making them.

I feel like this part is more on 'how we made it' than psychology of the sound though.

I love watching their faces light up with each sound--that and their passion for the craft just makes watching every episode of this insanely enjoyable

This might seem weird but I think it would be really cool to watch these guys play DnD.

This is awesome! It shows how some of the things you hear in games you take for granted, like it's so obvious it should be there that you almost don't notice it at all.

so crazy how just hearing that fraction of a second beginning to any of these sounds immediately brings up an image of the gameplay almost immediately in my head and i sort of relive that moment, if only for a brief second

Minecraft seems to suffer something a lot of "bad" games suffer from; a bad fandom. The game itself is fine, but many people relate Minecraft to cringy screaming cursing kids.

Anyone who remembers Tommy on Electric Playground knew the footstep noises comments were coming, I vividly remember him bringing them up in almost every review he did. I had no idea he was a sound guy when i was a kid so i thought it was CRAZY he always was bringing it up

That murlock sound still haunts me to this day. The first enemy encountered that could chain pull so many more of them. And just when you've killed your fifth one in a row and think you've survived... one spawns right on top of you.
