I have my main camera - hero 7 behind me as my main shot. I have a hero 3 I thought I would use as a front shot. Audio is my question. What would you recommend me using with these 2 cameras? Is there a wired lapel mic I could use with either camera?

Hey brother, I just got a fish finder for my kayak. What mount do you recommend? I like the yak attack lock and load but it looks wobbly. Is the Ram mount any sturdier that you know of?

Great vid... very enlightening on how you get your kayak rolls. Would you consider doing a similar vid of how to rig your cameras for ice fishing? My limited filming on the ice has had to deal with batteries that die too quickly, frozen cameras, fogged lenses from moving in/out of shelters, etc. Thanks

Thank You, David. Here is a video we have previously done on a pretty slick way to film your ice fishing adventures. Let us know if you have any other questions. In addition to this video referral, having a well-powered A-Cam for audio and a chesty are a big help as mentioned in this video. Those battery packs and the Dakota Lithium Powerbox have been really good to us in cold weather for longevity. As for lenses fogging up, to my knowledge, all you can do is wait for those cameras to acclimate or promote a better environment for them my not blasting the buddy heater or allowing for some ventilation in the house. Just stay on top of keeping those lenses clean while they acclimate.

@@Wired2Fish Thanks for the referral. That Marcum lithium shuttle is a sweet device. Fogged lenses not so bad this winter, partly due to moderate temps in So Wis. When you go from 15 below Z to a heated shelter, that's when the cameras really start to sweat. Thanks again! Keep up the great work!

What’s size track mount did you use for the large ram mount in the back? I have an old town sportsman 120 pdl and the only bummer is the lack of track mounts in the back of the kayak.

I just bought an Old Town Sportsman PDL. I removed the rod holders (all 3), cut 1/2" cutting board plates, and fastened them using the holes that held the rod holders. I cut pieces to go inside as backing plates and held it all together with countersunk machine screws, washers and nuts. That will give you 3 new surfaces to mount tracks or whatnot. Kind of a pain, but if you take your time, it'll look good and work well. Hope this helps.

When you submerge the selfie stick, does the Go Pro auto-invert the shot? Or you have to do it in editing?

It may auto invert in some cameras but I do it in the edit. I don’t know if I would like an auto invert as it may invert when unnecessary.

What the regular camera that y’all use? No the action cameras and does that not get wet? Or is it water proof?

We use a Sony A6300 for our core audio camera. It's is not waterproof so we'll hustle and try to tuck it away and use it for just audio with a wireless mic and then mount a Hero 5 or newer in its place if it rains. I've personally had issues with the a6300 overheating in direct sunlight.. but its still a good VLOG camera set-up for the kayak. Small and light with good image quality and option to run wireless microphone for reduced wind noise.

So much problem solving when trying to do this - battery power, waterproofing, overheating, internet stability (when live streaming), camera shake, mount stability, audio wired or wireless, etc I’m only running one camera and am going through my second or third variation of testing.
