Thank God finely someone explains the wires! So on a boat the brown wire is positive and the black negative right?

Very nice and informative video. I enjoy most of your videos. I do have a question regarding installing a battery should it not be in a battery box with lid and the positive terminal have a booth? It is a very neat installation but the 90' turn will reduce the flow drastically no?

Alain Pascal Routhier This guy doesn't know what he's doing. one hose clamp straight to a 90 degree turn???? Ya right. Bypassing the manual is a mistake also. If the float malfunctions you should be able to turn it on. The are put there for a reason. Additionally he doesn't have a battery box?????? A nice boat like this should have a blue spiral cell like an optima.

why be demeaning? although not ideal the 90 degree will work if you have to, in his case because of space , and the hose clamp will not rust out secretly during a season, so someone normally looking after his boat would see any change, its only a floor board away. Being a wooden boat, im sure the owner has a look there every now and then to detect any small leaks that would not trigger the auto-switch

LaMouleQuiCoule it's not demeaning, and wiring a bilge pump is a safety issue. others may make these mistakes. and it may cost them their lives

No battery box nessessary, as this setup is AGM! And uses no charger. A dab of silicone grease on the Battery terminals is enough.

I have done hundreds of installations on sailboats and other vehicles over the years and in my experience the way to join 2 wire is by soldering them together, then I put a tad of dielectric grease on it and on top of it all a piece of shrink, the type that has glue in it. Those crimped connectors when I must use them I take the the plastic out, crimp them, solder them and put a piece of shrink/glue on it. Works magics and looks profesionnal

Great Video, I have a Question, Would it not be better to mount it sideways so you don't have to have a 90* right out of the output ?? Or does it matter?? Thank You.

you should always avoid elbows before or after a pump or a ventilator, you loose power if you do so (static pressure). So yes you are absolutely right, that pump would have more power being installed sideways.

The pump wont pump as fast with the 90 in-line, however if you mount it sideways it wont pump until the impeller is covered with water and will stop when it sucks air. So it is a calculated risk it would be best running the hose out as straight as possible.

Frank Doxey with a battery charger or solar. If its only for the pump it will last a whole season, if there isn’t any leaks ofc..

When dealing with hose clamps, I find that a nut driver (5/16” seems to be the most common size in boats) is far superior to a slot screwdriver.

+gypsy2765 yeah i had a sahara 5 years ago was great, then it died so i bought another, it died after two months, so then i bought another hoping to get a good one it died too !! so then i just bought a sea flo ,hope it,ll be better than a sahara !! they are expensive and once its been in your boat and looks like shit, dont expect the shop to change it they always find an excuse !!
