great outing Ron, enjoyed watching those timber crushers, that was funny when you said you got sticked..lol.. tightlines bro from your buddy gerry from jersey. im going up to the mountains this weekend after my iv cancer treatment, going for some largemouth and small multi species. Hoping to get some videos in or maybe even a live stream.

Beautiful, beautiful trout WOW. I'm really medicated, have liver surgery rescheduled for next week. I'm going to get out on the streams this weekend one way or another. After I have a month of watching your videos before I'll be good enough to go again. Thank you for the awesome videos. It's like I'm right there fishing next to you.

Love the channel man I’m up fishing the west fork Kickapoo river this weekend for some trout any tips. It’s very rocky

The Kickapoo is a challenging river. One tip would be to lower your expectations. There is no substitute for spending time on the water to make you a better angler. With that, I spin fish and on the Kickapoo i'd probably also bring some maribou jigs and worms. Happy fishing!

Hey man, super great video! I live in SW Wisconsin (the driftless region) and have been looking for some good streams to get back into trout fishing. Any good suggestions or spots you could share w me? Id appreciate a little help, its been slow out here lmao

A quote from the 1917-1918 Biennial Report of the State Conservation Commission of Wisconsin, "At that time there were more minnows, such as shiners and other small fish that the larger trout fed upon and grew to good size." The "new science" by the Wisconsin DNR survey crew has decimated the food chain for 5-10lb brown trout in the late 1900's in Wisconsin streams. The food chain for 5-10lb brook trout was decimated back in the 1940's or earlier in Wisconsin streams. Does the "new science" of the Wisconsin DNR even know what composes the food chain for 5-10lb brook trout and 5-10lb brown trout? The stream restoration by the Wisconsin DNR and TUDARE left no habitat or vegetation along the stream for the food chain of 5-10lb brook trout and 5-10lb brown trout.

Well, from what I see I would say no. DNR HI seems to focus on 1) erosion controls, 2) temp control and 3) spawning sanctuary. I too would like to think we could restore the food chain. The biggest obstacle that DNR has a part in is that their are too many fish stocked in the more popular class 2 streams and too many fish in some of the class 1 streams. The fish density limits food chain capacity as it gets spread due to biomass competition. Essentially all the small fish eat too and limit growth of the entire population based on food availability. Restoring the food chain would fix this as trout become piscivorous at about 4-6". Problem is they don't have lifespan to get 5-10lb on the available food. Happy fishing!

Great video- when you call out what size you’re using (like here at 5:05 when you switch to a silver 15) is that a reference to the equivalent PM blade, weight, or both?

Thanks. Yes the numbers are equivalent PM sizes as most anglers are familiar with PMs. 6 is 1/4oz, 9 is a 3/8and 15s are 1/2oz. I make my lures with lighter bodies and heavier tungsten bodies based on the stream I am fishing. Happy fishing!!

I’m curious what made you switch to a Rapalla? I’ve admittedly not seen all your vids but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you pull out anything but a spinner before. Just curious.

I always have raps, assorted jigs, some chatterbaits and occasionally worms with me. The spinner is the got to lure for sure though, can't argue with success, spinners are irresistible to WI trout. That stream is one that has a few deeper holes that set up well for rap casting. Happy fishing!

I live in south east Wisconsin and it’s almost impossible to catch a trout. Which area of the state do you think is best for trout fishing?

This ia an easy one. The driftless area of SW WI, SE MN, NE IA and NW IL is probably the best continental trout fishery in US. If you want to fish streams like you see in the videos, you will have to travel west young man! LOL. Happy fishing!!
