Wisconsin Trout Fishing - 7/3/2024

Happy 4th of July weekend folks! Not much fireworks, just some sparklers! hahaha. With continuing rain on tap, I found a mildly stained area with high current. Had a few bigger fish flash, but a 16" under the bridge at start was the best brown here. A few brookies tossed in on this long wade too. More heavy rain predicted, not sure how the weekend will go, but ribs on the grill tomorrow will be amazing!! Happy fishing!!!

When you're out enjoying Mother Nature's world, you'll always get surprises. Always trout in the timber, if not, keep fishing because there is probably a 30-inch brown trout living in this timber fishing hole.

Been wanting to get out, but every time I have a chance it either just rain or it’s raining. Crazy summer so far in North East Wisconsin.

@@joshstevens6532 Yep, same story in most of the driftless. Very slow June and the floods seem to be staying for July as well. Keep on checking, things will improve eventually. Happy fishing!

What a great way to start your day with a nice 16”! Also Ron, can you tell me where to find the trudave waders? I need something that will cool me down instead of always wearing my neoprene hot waders 🤣🤷🏼♂️ hah! Thanks!

@@rschmidty33 www.trudavegear.com/collections/waders/products/trudave-stocking-foot-breathable-waders-for-fly-fishing Hi Ryan, that's the stocking foot model, but they make a booted model that I have not tried. The stocking foot model has been excellent. In more than 50 outings I have had two leak repairs. One from falling on rocks and causing a small hole in the left knee - my fault. The second an odd bootie hole from abrasion with the Simms boot. That fix was difficult as the damaged part is in constant motion. A neoprene patch on the boot with flex tape over, seems to have worked for now. They go on sale and may be on Amazon for less. Great waders for the price. Thanks and happy fishing!

Another great video, love seeing how well Wisconsin keeps their streams for these beautiful fish. Question, sorry for asking but have you ever trout fished at Black Earth Creek Fishery in Dane County?

@@Ski180 Wisconsin is an amazing place. I have fished in Dane County. The creek you mention is more historical than it is good in my experience. I have fishing it in a few spots a few times. Pretty marginal stream that is warming and mucky. The Driftless has the best streams in the state and probably in the continental US. Happy fishing!

@@WisconsinTroutFishing Thank you so much! The western part of Dane County is part of the driftless area correct? Would the western part of Black AmEarth Creek potentially be a part of that?

Yes, the western half of Dane County is considered the far eastern edge of the driftless. Streams there do not compare well to the ones you see in my videos. Don't get me wrong, you have good opportunities near you. You would be better off going further west and focusing on trout tribs that flow into the WI River. Also, be careful wading the stream u mention. In my experience, it's a mucky bastard. Happy fishing!

Love your stuff man! I live in Trempealeau co and just moved to a property with a nice creek running through it. Excited to figure these fish out. Do you have a favorite spot to get your lures?
