What if Jesus doesn't care what you do for a living (provided it doesn't go against his word) but what he cares about is how we love our lives? Purpose doesn't always equal professon and I think when we automatically associate the two together we had extra stress and anxiety to our lives instead of trusting God work through whatever career decision we make.

I have a diploma in photography and worked as an assistant photographer back in the 80's but when my fathers business went bankrupt I ended up living on the streets. I had a really bad up and down life. But when I got saved I was at the time unemployed and had been so for five years. My pastor told me that I was fortunate to have a welfare system to look after me but God's word says to get a job so I went out the following day and found one. A full time job as a barista serving tea and coffee it was in this job that I witnessed God's favour on a customer I had prayed for a woman who had breast cancer and was dew a hysterectomy but the three lumps had vanished. Next I worked in a gas station but it was here that I excelled but being useless at the job God anointed me to do it. I even had the Muslim owner say that I was an assets to his company but he didn't know what was really going on. Not only was I doing my job to the best of my ability according to Ephesians six working as unto the Lord but I saw thousands of people healed and saved as I prayed for them over the counter. I even had a bible study going on when the assistant manager got saved and a Hindi colleague. Out of all the jobs i have had in my life even rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous when I was a assistant photographer didn't compare to serving the Lord in a simple job working as a cashier in a gas station!

I think this is what he is saying....does your job allow you time with God or does it take your whole week? Does it help you touch, teach, advice, encourage other people in your work place? If it doesn't then God isn't first in it and it will likely be miserable...maybe not to you but to your family...maybe not family but in other areas of your life.

In every single job I have had since my salvation when at the job interview I always told the the employer that I am a born again Christian and that I don't work Sunday's as I go to church. The atheist and the Muslim employers aways honoured my request. You need to realise that God is literally in the office with you and the employer. Nothing is impossible for you you must believe that they will yield to you and will know in their heart that you will be an asset to their company!!!

One of the greatest ministers other than Jesus himself, Paul, demonstrated a division between calling and career. In Acts and the Thessalonians he said things a long the lines of “i never coveted the gold or silver of others, but provided for my needs and those of others with the hard work of my hands” and “we toiled day and not as not to be a burden” He was called to spread the word of God and the good news of Jesus to the nations. However, he was a tentmaker by career. Nowhere does he say the two are linked, nowhere does he mention Gods calling on his tent making career.

Where in the Bible does it say any of this? Its always “i believe…” not “The Bible says…” With love, what you say doesnt matter if you cant even back it up with scripture.

IF I heard this talk 8 years ago I would have completely believed it. Choosing Jesus first so far has only DESTROYED my career - its as if trusting Jesus has not yielded what the Bible claims or promises. This experience of mine has been quite disheartening.

***** - I would normally agree with you, but bible also says that if you ask God for bread he won't give you a rock. . .and that he will provide for his people. If you don't witness truth in that (which is spoken of in the Bible) then how can you trust the promise of heaven? Bible itself says that if you cannot trust someone with something small than you cannot trust them with something greater. If God cannot be trusted in small things then how can he be trusted in something big like a promise of heaven? So you see, I'm not disagreeing with you that it is about "His Word" - but if you don't witness any confirmation of it being true (and I don't mean in terms of scientific proof but spiritual proof) then what does that mean?

+Radkon Psygami I'm surprised noone's replied you. It's disappointing to find so little Christian career advice videos and so little comments, especially in a world that has little to no Christian influence at all. Meanwhile, our churches (whether Protestant or Catholic), are some of the most corrupt and hypocritical organisations in human existence, with ministers and their staff primarily concerned with preserving their jobs and benefits, retaining wealth for themselves and their families. "Choosing Jesus first so far has only DESTROYED my career - its as if trusting Jesus has not yielded what the Bible claims or promises… what does that all mean?" Short answer: Predestination. God loves his sheep. If you are his sheep, God has a plan for you. You need to be faithful to him. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." (Jer. 29:11) The Bible is inerrant. You have overlooked the Bible, or have made a mistake. Long answer: The Bible does not claim or promise immediate prosperity, in wordily terms, as expected in this generation. In some cases, God has certain promises for certain groups during certain periods, e.g. for Israel, but that's a bit ambiguous and irrelevant for most Gentile Christians. The Gospel property always points to eternity, and eternal prosperity in the Kingdom of God, "treasures in heaven", living in God's house of "many rooms", etc. In fact, true Christians are promised persecution and similar non-prosperous events and experiences, in the worldly sense. e.g. trial, tribulation, temptation, to be meek, humbled, to mourn, etc, etc. Christ taught us not to worry, implying that we should be grateful for the little we do have, rather than complaining about the lot we do not, because God knows our needs, he knows what we can handle, etc. God has given to each person accordingly. Instead, we are to trust in him and his promise, because God always keeps his word. "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Mat. 6:25-26) -- More often than not, our society suffers from greed, excess, and covetousness of what others have. We always want more, but Christ did not come just to give out things, feed, and heal (although important). He came for a higher purpose, a greater plan, to offer a perfect solution. Refer to Jacob's case and be patient. He was betrayed by his brothers wicked scheme and sold into slavery, however, strangely his true career began in Egypt as the seed to future generations: "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." (Gen. 5:20) Similarly, Daniel was a Babylonian captive, a refugee, yet for some reason God granted him supernatural skills to serve the King. Of course, Daniel went on to become a great statesman and prophet, but the point is that God has a plan for you. "the bible also says that if you ask God for bread he won't give you a rock… If God cannot be trusted..." Have you asked for bread (literally, your meals and basic necessities), or are you asking for something else? Christ fed he 4,000 and 5,000 until they were full, with left overs too spare. What have you eaten lately? It is well known with agricultural economists that the world doesn't have food shortage problem, but rather a food distribution problem, where the rich hoard supplies or destroy crops to preserve the market price. God has not lied. I feel your pain, but you should be careful before accusing God of lying, you will be held accountable and he will rebuke you. "let God be true, but every man a liar" (Rom. 3:4) "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Gal. 6:7) A big problem in this generation is the depreciation of the Bible, in this case, total ignorance. I can't believe this preacher fails to quote scripture, instead he offers opinion, saying, "I think… if we put Jesus first… we should let Jesus plot our career course… when we put Jesus first, we allow Jesus to pick our career course…", which can be very ambiguous, misleading, and simply FALSE, when misinterpreted. How does one define 'career'? Is Jesus have a causality relationship with prosperity? Sure, all people must 'work', but the term career implies perpetual growth, which just doesn't occur in the Bible… even Paul had career interruptions… refer to Jewish abidance of Shemita (7 year work cycles) like Sabbath, we are required to rest on the 7th day, year, etc. The puritans saw this as vital blueprint to life. For example, 'prosperity' is not an entitlement to be expected or taken for granted. God is not an ATM. Prosperity has many factors inc. deservingness, responsibility/trust, special promises (e.g. collective covenants to families, nationalities, believers, etc), and God's grace (giving to the undeserving); after all, it's God's to give, not yours to demand. In fact, please note that there is such a thing as false prosperity, where God has cursed certain blessings (of the reprobate). "If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart." (Mal. 2:2) Some scholars theorise that the reason for the success of the British Empire / the Anglo-Western colonial world, is due to the English monarchy preserving the Bible and Christianity by publishing the King James Bible, a pivotal translation for Christians worldwide. Also, remember that a major element of the Gospel was when Christ corrected the Devil and said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Mat. 4:4) Christians eat the word. While instead, nowadays, our Capitalist world demands asks for more stuff, more money, more growth, bigger houses, more cars, more food, etc, while completely abandoning serious analysis of God's holy word, the Bible; to embrace it in all it's perfection, as the divine authority and final guideline to life. It's life's ultimate map. It's inspired by God and inerrant. So, to be blunt, the problem is not Jesus, or his word, the problem is you. That's something you need to work out with God, maybe also your neighbours. God gives each of us a burden that we can carry, custom made. Even Christ, who is God, had to endure serious physical deprivation in the desert. So, whatever it is that you are enduring, it is for a reason; most likely for your own good, although Mal. 2:2 is a possible scenario… "And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live." (Deu. 8:3) Personally, God humbled me and is still doing so. I've got problems with idols (status, money, power, comfort, security, control, women, etc, etc). He activated my conscience which caused me think about all these problems I never realised, including my problematic relationship to him. I used to know nothing and now I can't stop thinking about him. This is how God is gracious, merciful and loving. He is a potter who moulds; a gardener who prunes; a creator who gives life. Sometimes, it's better to be a nobody, to have your life turned upside down, in order to be closer to God Almighty, the author of life itself, the wellspring of life. My friend, change your attitude, give credit to God, be grateful for what you have, confess your sins, seek repentance, look to the Lord and devote yourself to love him with everything you have and to love your neighbour as yourself: "And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." (Isa. 58:11) Grace to you and peace, Your neighbour,

Quote: "I think it's absolutely fundamental to put Jesus first in our workplace… If we live our whole life with Jesus first, then Jesus will be first..." Warning: Always check the Bible. This video is quite misleading and depending how the message is interpreted, arguably this is a false preacher, preaching a fundamentally false message. The Bible doesn't teach this, per se, not at all. We are taught to put Jesus first, sure, as our commanding officer, however, it's important to stress that Christians are taught to submit to authority, not to be defiant. For instance, if you work for your parent's family business and your father is hard case who rides you, you are obliged to obey him. God empowered your father and placed you under his authority for a reason. This is what the Bible teaches. So, if someone hears, "put Jesus first in our workplace", and goes on to ignore his father/boss, well, obviously you'd find yourself in big trouble; disciplined, or fired. "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth." (Eph. 6:1-3) The purposes of submission is longevity. You want to please your superiors, within reason. Furthermore, "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him." (Eph. 6:5-9) So, it's a mutually respectful relationship, unlike a pagan workplace which can be more hostile, aggressive, detrimental to your health, etc. This preacher is preaching nonsense. He's oversimplifying his message to make it appear obvious common sense, but it's utter nonsense, because, 1) life's not that simple, and, 2) the Bible teaches an order to things with details how to behave. Quote: "What does Jesus want from our life?" -- Well, Jesus appointed the Apostle Paul, who gave us the following instructions. "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." (Col. 3:12-17) This is a to-do-list of verbs, action words. But if you listen to this preacher and go to work, saying "Jesus first, Jesus first, Jesus first, and you're not the boss because Jesus is first!", well, you'll probably get disciplined or fired for nonperformance. The Bible consistently teaches submission to authority to maintain harmony, amongst other reasons: "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." (Col. 3:18-21) Quote: "... all we've got to do is flow with him! ... sometimes we've got to doodle in the sand and say, Jesus what do you want?" -- Meaningless, gibberish. Read the Bible. Christians are to serve sincerely, wholeheartedly. "Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Sure, Jesus is "first", but as the ultimate authority, like the CEO or general, but we certainly are taught to serve our boss with the same attitude as if it were Jesus himself. It's respect for authority, respect for the establishment, and there's (somewhat of) a chain of command, whether we like it or not. There is no such thing as separating and removing the boss, as a notion, in mindset or actions, by placing, "Jesus first in the workplace". 1) Jesus is not literally in the workplace because he returned to Heaven, until his 2nd coming, and 2) How can a person possibly claim to obey Christ, the ultimate authority, when they do not obey the their boss, the appointed authority, on earth. Fact: Archaeologists have unearthed the tombs of 71 Yeshuas from the period of Jesus' death, so repeating "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" is meaningless, without a proper explanation. It is a sin to use the Lord's name in vain and he will rebuke you: "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless" (Exo. 20:7) I don't know where this preacher got his material from because it's certainly not from the Bible. His message is ambiguous and misleading… Be warned.

Marlstarl87 "I feel that I can trust his passionate demeanor more than an angry list of bible-analysis." Feelings are untrustworthy: "God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Gen. 6:5) "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool" (Pro. 28:26) "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies" (Matt. 15:19) "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." (James 1:25) Did you know that when you speak against God's word, you have already committed blasphemy against God's word, his holy name, and thus against God himself? (Titus 2:5; 1 Tim. 6:1) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (2 Tim. 3:16-17) What you refer to as "an angry list of bible-analysis", are sinful words that flow from the filth within your heart. You should consider bathing yourself in God's word, which washes and cleanses (John 15:3; Eph. 5:26; John 17:17). "For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." (Eph. 5:5-6) Shalom

Thinking on the bible for instance we see that pharaoh was the high authority in Egypt but does it mean that due to that moses was supposed to listen and be obedient to him? .....I think the preacher was statinging good advice to always put Gods will before anyone else if God s will if for you to be a teacher while your parents want you to do medicine who ll you listen to? Yes obedience is neccessay but your obedience should be to God before any other men it's just my thought and I hope I did not offend you in any way if I did my apologies ....pray over everything and ask for Gods will and guidance for his thoughts are greater then yours or mine to give each of us an expected end.
