I installed the Gradient Tracking update on my GT S-Series and went for a ride on a sunny day in DC.
This is a talk and ride style video. I discuss the Trade Up Program, where you can trade an XR or GT towards the purchase of a GT S-Series.
I try Gradient Tracking on a steep hill.
I discuss UpdateGate and my broken GT.
And we talk about Onewheel KZfaq.
Oh, and there is the crash!
Enjoy!

I’ll throw this your way… you got a peaceful soothing voice and a thoughtful approach to your topics. I imagine you could build a brand with those qualities. Also seeing you ride in the mall makes me proud to be an American. The fact no one is harassing you or telling you can’t ride there is amazing! Not always the that way in small town America.

Thanks so much! There are only a couple of privately owned monuments that have a problem with bikes, scooters, and PEVs. For the most part, DC is cool with it. Onewheel is one of the best ways to explore the District. They also do Segway tours.

The last 3 minutes of your video is some of the most valuable and powerful insight I've heard on KZfaq. I get questions and concerns all the time about my Onewheel Movie/Episodal series and it's hard to put this in word but you said it in the best and most succinct way possible. I wish i had heard this earlier, but at the same time, there would be no "Supercharged" if i did.... It's so hard. But I'm glad to hear someone speak up about ins-and-outs of content creation for KZfaq and the Onewheel specifically. Stay positive bro, and I'm glad you're okay! Thank you sincerely for the time, effort and thoughts in this video. Be safe my man🙏✊- liked, subbed, and shared.

I know you put lots of love and work into the Supercharged series. And I’ve enjoyed watching it! I hope what I shared won’t stop creators from making passion projects that are meaningful to them. I appreciate you for taking the time to watch and comment. One of the most encouraging and truthful things I’ve heard about this journey is “All work works. Sometimes it’s working on us and sometimes it’s working for us. We need to allow the work to work on us until we become the person for whom it can work.” I’m sure the process of making Supercharged taught you a lot. And those lessons can be applied to whatever you create in the future. Here’s a video worth watching on the “All Works Works” topic: kzfaq.infozT6Dg5GLHuA?si=03GUJ4Y7XNd7m_GG Thanks again, @Muzewheel! 🙏🏾

Absolutely man...i never thought my passion project would be come my life and business (it had it's role in helping me do video for a living) So you are certainly right in that it had it's purpose in my journey of learning filmmaking. I needed to make Supercharged to be where i am now. BUT i wish i had the right expectation going in, and what you said doesn't discourage creativity and passion work, it helps us as creative people re-align why we make it in the first place...it's passion, fun. Whether we sponsored or not, we gotta love doing it and gotta love giving in this way to the people online. And I certainly do which is why we WILL make another show. Thanks man! @followdon I was surprised it did! Insta 360 lens protectors FTW! The broader audience topic struck home with me. What's strange is that I started out in the car community and branched out into the Onewheel community. That's how I've broadened my audience. My passion is riding, and everything else is a byproduct. It's been difficult to find a balance.

Public biffs are telling about how people perceive your age. In their eyes, if you're old, people run to your rescue, if you're still young, they just call out, assuming you're all right. I've almost convinced my boss to get a couple of GTs for "mental health" purposes, so that when I'm visiting the home offices, I can ride instead of rent a car. Maybe some day I'll be able to link up with you and get a tour of DC from a Onewheel rider's perspective. In my fleet, I have a Growler (XR with Pint tire and WTF rails), two GTs, one with Low Rider Rails and the other with a 5" MTE and Steep and Deep rails, and a GT-S with a 5" MTE and Dub Tail Rails. I get what you're saying about not wanting to ride the GT compared to the GT-S. I only use my Growler to go get mail from the mailbox down the street and I'm having a hard time justifying my Steep and Deep board as the dirt trails near me are garbage. I'm on my Low Rider Board a lot, but even that is losing ground to the GT-S. If I was able to find my original XR rails, I'd have traded that and the Steep and Deep board in... sadly, that's not the case.
@followdon
@followdon 5 ай бұрын
On a work trip to Raleigh, I rented an XR and used it for my work commutes instead of renting a car. When I expensed it, despite it being much less expensive than a car rental, I was asked to stay in the box and only rent cars next time. That turned out okay, because I rented a car and put my own board in the trunk the next trip. Let me know if you visit DC. Instagram is probably the best way to reach out. I’m @followdon on there as well. You have an impressive quiver of boards. But I’ve learned when you own multiples, you’ll end up developing a strong preference for one. Maybe you situationally ride another. I can’t justify keeping more than two boards myself. If a friend visits, they can ride my GT. Or if for some reason my GT S-Series isn’t available, I’ll ride the GT as a backup.

If the weather shifts for the better, I might hit you up. Thanks! I hear ya on the multiple boards. I want three completely different riding set ups, truck, cruise, and trail, even knowing if favor the cruising board. I was looking to convert two into one, and might still do that with my two GTs instead of a GT and XR... I'm reluctant to let go of my long distance cruiser, even though I've only done a couple of 20+ mile rides, ever. I dunno.

Thank you! I agree that the $3,200 price tag is outrageous. I had to sell some stock I was holding to afford mine comfortably. It also felt like a slight slap in the face to see the board discounted on Black Friday after I bought mine full-price. The trade-in program and the Black Friday sale might hint that FM believes they may have priced slightly higher than the market was willing to bear.

That was a cool new animation for tracking your speed, having the speedometer in the ground. Also, in didn't realize the slapping of the board when coming off curbs was a thing on the GT... I thought the new bang bumpers was causing me to do that...
@followdon
@followdon 5 ай бұрын
Thank you, Richie! To put the speedometer on the ground, work with the distortion controls until the perspective matches. Then, you can track the position of your foot or the Onewheel, and it will animate. I got lazy with it in the latter part of the video. It’s storage and processing intensive to get the tracking rendered. The slapping on landings is a behavior that Future Motion can correct in software. The GT S-Series update proved that. If you’re riding off curbs at lower than required speeds, it could also be the back footpad contacting the curb as gravity starts doing its thing. But if the slapping happens after landing, it’s a software thing.

Everything from headlights, to hall sensors. FM does not publish tech specs, for instance, no torque values. @@followdon yeah I got pint x in first week of June. Got in 134 miles in. Practiced riding first few weeks in a large parking lot and some bike trails, learning to carve and overcome foot fatigue. @followdon
@followdon Ай бұрын
@TomBabula A couple things that might help: Don’t try to grip the board with your toes curling inside of your shoes. It doesn’t help any. Maybe I’m the only one who did that as a beginner 😅 You’re only responsible for heel toe balance, not front to back footpad balance. Make small intentional smooth movements and not jerky ones. Keep your center of gravity over the tire and accelerate with your hips. You can even use the weight of your arms. But avoid moving your upper body too far over your hips in either direction. That is to say, don’t lean. And no need to start commuting before you’re ready! Move at your own pace. Wear your safety gear. I’m still in a helmet on every ride to this day!
@TomBabula
@TomBabula 29 күн бұрын
@@followdonyeah I used to do that curling toe thing too. Often unintentionally in the beginning. First few days I was too scared to mount on the board. Then next few days initial ride. Now it’s no big deal and think of it as “mount forward” instead of “mount up”. Changing shoes to Vans Skate and figuring out stance helped immensely. I think it was just a matter of building stabilizer muscles since I never did skateboarding or snowboarding in my life before. 😊
