Ken Tanaka of Wish4Fish is back on the water. This time, fly fishing in Alaska at Aniak River Lodge.
This was my first time in Alaska and it did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to spend a few days at Aniak River Lodge. This place is well known for micing for Rainbows with their Mighty Mouse series but unfortunately the weather did not give us great opportunities. I went there excited about fishing for the Inconnu or otherwise known as the Sheefish. You have the chance to catch Salmon, Northern Pike

It may not be the trip that you planned, but it’s the trip that a lot of us wish we had. Alaska is such a beautiful and wild place. Hope to return soon. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Ken, my wife and I were there with you that week. Susannah caught the 40 1/4" Northern you referenced! It was a great place, great fishing even though the weather was a bit iffy. They run a great operation!

Hello Michael. Great Pike! Unfortuntely, your wifes catch ramped up my expectations that I came no where close to fulfilling 😉 Fantastic lodge. Wish I was there to experience the week properly. I need to go back for sure!

It looks like every variable you couldn't control went wrong, and yet still looked great! Great work, as always. The place seemed really cool. Bucket list, for sure.

Let me take you to AK next time. As for the weather, thats pretty standard. I think we may have been there at the same time this year. Sorry your trip got a bit messed up by the vid. Take me with you out to Valdez and I will hook you up with a local legend that saw us rigging up fly rods and came over to chat. 15 min later we were following him deep into grizzly bear habitat on a path he cut and maintains. He then guided us for 3 days, for free. He will be a friend for life.
