I just made this with limited knife usage. Boy, is it sensitive! Love it! I'm a beginner, and this was a very encouraging experience. Usually, my triggers aren't sensitive enough.

Thanks Mr. Canterbury, I gave this a try after seeing your earlier video, and got it figured out, but seeing the table top demonstration, I've picked up on a couple finer points that I was not clear on, or missed entirely. 👍👍🇨🇦

Gday, I am new to this trap making thing and looked at a few videos on deadfalls now. This was one of the few ways that had less then 4 parts and didnt require some sort of cordage. nice one

Excellent explanation, Dave. I like the stability of the y stick, made one with a 18 inch log 4 feet long that my regular figure 4 would not balance, and it worked great. 👍👍

Dave, thanks again for this! This clip crossed my feed a year ago, and just yesterday I saw my first crotched wishbone component amongst my other kit scraps, which I saved for my 2.5 yo twin grandsons live-fall box trapline they run on weekends for Papa, who pays $1.00 per feral/barn cat, who then get a free tour and vacation across the big crick into next county. Anyway, my son-in-law, their daddy, after 4 years in our clan, has finally caught the woodcrafting bug, so my granddaughter-pregnant daughter won’t have to do all the wood processing, fires, and all other knife- and ax-crafting at their place! Lol Anyway, just a day or two ago, I shared a Patherfinder batoning video with him, followed by the text declaring Dave as being our biggest influence and inspiration in our early days, and that Ryan should judge all other media creators against Dave’s masterclass videos and book!! Appreciate, you, Dave!

David Canterbury, Hi there... just curious what wood you chose for this trap? Does it matter, so long as it is easy to make and is solid? I live in NJ, for example... where the forest is very much like that in Ohio.

Is this trap super dependent on the component length and ratios between the pieces? Is there an optimal ratio? Weekend project with the kids! Other deadfall traps either too hard for a young kid to knot up or too difficult to set up without being discouraged. Thank you for the video.
