I'm so impressed with your reading list! Thanks for the suggestions, I wrote them all down. If you haven/t read it already, I would also recommend the Lost Apothecary. x

Check out Her Majesty's Royal Coven by Juno Dawson. It's the first book of a trilogy by the same name. It's about a coven of witches who work for the government. Originally founded by Ann Boleyn.

I could listen to you talk about books all day! Great video! I loved Circe! I was happy to see your recommendation for the Honey Witch, i have that one on my To Get list. Most wanted from your list, the one that intrigues me, is the Bear and the Nightingale. It sounds so different than anything I've ever read and I know nothing about Russian folklore so im adding that to my list. Thanks for the extensive list!

absolutely loved circe. and i love the sound of the honey witch and the witches of vardo. i have all the practical magic series downloaded on my kindle but haven’t read them yet, maybe saving for autumn although it feels autumnal here atm 😅 i would recommend the limits of enchantment by graham joyce. it’s wonderful, really well written and witty.

one of my favourites is Emily Wilde’s encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett - I just love the modern take on things Fey and, of course, there is a tantalising romance bubbling away in the background

Thank you for these wonderful recommendations. Circe has been out for a while, and I still haven't gotten around to reading it, but it is on my list. In one of your previous videos, you mentioned the Witches of Vardo, so I ordered it and plan on reading it this fall- certain books feel seasonal to me, as you note with The Bear and the Nightingale and Payback's a Witch, so that's why it's on my autumn reading list. Btw, I was in the UK for 3 weeks in June, and I had a lovely time, but it was very cold! I loved it! We spent a week in London and then headed north to Manchester, Leeds, and York with a stop in the Peak District- Buxton was lovely, and I hope to return. When I returned home, it was 95 degrees Fahrenheit 🥵. I wanted to get right back on the plane and head back to England! Thank you again for a very well researched and lovely video; I so look forward to your new creations each week.🌷🌼🌻🌺

Some great books, & a few to add to my lists!🥰 When you were talking about being interested in Slavic mythology and folklore, I couldn't stop thinking about recommending Deathless (by Catherynne M Valente).. A kind of alternate take on Russian history through a magical lens, some beautiful, sometimes dark, but absolutely enchanting creatures and scenes which definitely stay with you. Also, on Uprooted, if you haven't already, I'd definitely recommend Spinning Silver also by Naomi Novik! I read this one first, and found it so much more enthralling with it's swirling snow and mystery, where I was later disappointed, like you, in Uprooted, which felt a little fanfiction-y!

Thanks for all the recs. Also. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E Harrow! I have been recommending this book ever since I've read it. It's become one of my favorite books altogether, no matter the genre. It's a historical fantasy about three sisters set in New Salem, MA where magic is real, Old Salem was "infested" with witches and that witching in no longer allowed. More serious, but not super sad (although that might depend on personal preference because the ending can be a bit... intense, but again, not in a bad way). The characters are wonderful and there are several themes that are worked into it well.

I personally wasn't too much of a fan of the 'Heartbreak and Magic' book, but that's just me and I hope you can enjoy it for yourself when you get the chance to indulge in it. 💜I definitely want to read 'The Honey Witch' now, so thank you for the recommendation. xx 💜

Great recommendations! Alice Hoffman is my absolute favorite so in my eyes she does no wrong 😂 but it’s interesting to see someone else’s perspective (which is not mine at all). It just shows the differences in what people get on with or not. Now I need to read them all again to see your perspective 🤍

I loved Alice Hoffman's magic series (but I agree with you about Practical Magic. BTW, they are coming out with a sequel to the movie!) I recently read Dovekeepers which is just amazing - I really hope you will read that one. Apparently there's also a YA novel by Hoffman called Green Witch, too, but I've never read it.
