@@serenityjewel ain’t no way bro u are so close minded. do ur research. palo santo and sage is used in closed practices by indigenous people. it is endangered because it is used by commercial companies to capitalize it for a mass market. this is hurting native cultures which are already suffering and making it harder for them to keep their culture alive and well. minorities matter.
@serenityjewel Жыл бұрын
@@what4loser Again, just like companies can't patent nature, because they didn't create it, no culture can claim what's provided by the earth. It doesn't matter if they use it in closed ceremonies, they found it. They didn't plant it, they didn't create it, they just happen to be there and found it. So no, it's not theirs. And sustainability is an issue so companies need to grow and harvest their own. My using palo santos is not stopping any minority culture from using it in their closed ceremonies. I am not trying to get into their ceremonies, I am not paying money to get in their ceremonies, I have not asked any questions about their ceremonies, and I am not trying to change their ceremonies. They can keep using palo santos however they choose and so will I. Y'all have gotten beyond ridiculous with thinking everything belongs to only one culture because they used it first. Next you're going to say only people in the tropics can eat pineapples and only Chinese people can write on paper or wear trousers because they invented it first. Get out of here. When your stop wearing pants, I'll stop using palo santos.
@aoifecalderon383 Жыл бұрын
To add onto the above commenter, the problem with the white sage market is that people are going onto the land and ripping out plants (illegally in some areas) because it’s faster and then these plants can’t grow back. It makes it hard for indigenous people to harvest white sage (which they do responsibly, not taking the whole plant) to use in their own cultural ceremonies. You can buy white sage plants from native people near some reservations so as not to contribute to this industry and to support indigenous communities instead.

Hi Darcy! So, white sage is used by primarily indigenous people, meaning Native Americans and other cultures that existed before the pilgrims. Native spirituality is a closed practice for only those who belong to Native culture, and white sage and palo santo are part of that culture. Since you've already bought it, throwing it away would just be a waste. You could give or sell it to a Native person, you could bury it, or you could just keep it on display. Using it would be your own prerogative, but understand that in the future you should buy a different type of sage so as to not be using things from closed cultures. It would help you to do research on the different types of sage and their cultural backgrounds to see what you can and can't use. Good luck!
